Being a criminal is a choice. You know there are severe consequences and you choose to still do it. The old way offered no deterrence and now everyone is up in arms that they can't be a heinous, ruthless criminal and get out in 8 hours of prison (IC). The solution is be smarter about your crime and don't get caught. Civs were often stuck running for their lives to do ANYTHING, not being able to enjoy RP because of the overwhelming threat that they faced every second in town. Criminals had no regard and no fear. Now you do. Live with the fear like civs have had to.

Giant +1 for closet. Very needed here as people are wearing the same clothes every day because it's a pain to change them.
-
I think the sandy air field would be great for it. I'd definitely participate if this were to happen. +1

+1. I'm trying to organize something like this currently. I know the PD would interfere if there isn't some kind of permit, but they'd be writing tickets for speeding almost assuredly. Maybe even reckless driving. You can't really street race without breaking speed limits.

Most civs don't bother calling the police because they won't do a damn thing about it. So the civs I know have no recourse and we're basically npc farming tools for crims. How is that supposed to be fun for civs? Criminals should value their freedom and not commit brazen acts, this will ensure that happens.
-
Screwing civs out of their RP is ok because this is how you enjoy it, but what about the civilian rp'ers that have lost countless hours rebuilding from the robbery because you think it's fun. Now criminals get to experience some of the pain that civilians have for a long time and now you all want to cry about it. Get smart or get arrested. Accept your losses like civs have had to for so long.

While it would be great rp, everyone I'd focused and obsessed with midsummer, so there has to be some kind of reward for such a high risk.

Government Expansion and Judicial System
Reckless311 replied to Clank's topic in Implemented Suggestions
What about a lawyer plea bargaining on their behalf? They'd at least get some kind of representation that way. -
That would require a court system to plea bargain on behalf of the criminals to get concurrent sentencing instead of consecutive. It shouldn't be concurrent for every crime or criminal. More of a case by case basis.
-
People don't call LSPD because of the attitude they get from officers if they even respond to your calls. The culture in the PD is 90% a-holes and who wants to deal with that? that's the main reason you see declines in calls. I think PD should be more professional when dealing with the citizens. As for the double jeopardy discussion. You cam get multiple charges from the same act. Lesser included offenses as well. Shooting at cops from a car could result in 3 separate charges. Attempted murder of Gov official, illegal weapon charge, and firing a gun from a vehicle (yes, that is a crime in LD). This is not stacking, these are separate crimes committed in one instance.

Prison times were decreased on all crimes. Having consequences so you have to think about your actions is a major positive for the server and rp. Civ rp was nearly impossible in the old system because people had no reason to fear police or value their freedom. Now they do. This change is great for civs in LS. Now we can actually do fun scenes with less chance of being interrupted by crap rp robberies. -1

Having to feather your throttle with cruise control totally defeats the purpose of cruise control
-
Cruise control does malfunction, I've experienced that a number of times recently. It's on and set, I turn it off and on and still exceed the cruise limit set. It's rather annoying and expensive. BIG +1

If the lawyer faction is big enough, that shouldn't be a problem. There's a lot of interest in it, so I don't see that as a problem as it'd be more of an on the spot thing. Your lawyer isn't on duty, call a Public Defender. Having judges online would be the same. It's not a specific judge that hears a case, it would be whichever judge is online.
-
I agree that a debt system is sorely needed for this very reason.
-
See, that's the problem. You're probably in a gang and never played a civ in this RP server. This is supposed to be about quality RP. Getting robbed repeatedly ruins other people's scenes and fun, but that's ok?

Currently criminal RP consists of drug making, car chopping, and robbing people/stores. So here's a suggestion. What about having them be able to rob the union depository, foundry, jewelry store, fleeca bank locations (not the main bank or paleto because they are ncz), and atm's. This would give them new opportunities for income. Robbing the banks and depository would automatically alert PD. Foundry would be a high % chance of reporting to police but not guaranteed. Atm and stores would report at a low rate, but cctv would give the police a description upon police reviewing the footage which is held offsite. This would create more things for criminals to do and give them a source of income. I don't begin to know how hard that these would be to script, just giving ideas.
-
Another point that is often ignored is people are so obsessed with winning that they could care less about the story/RP. People have to be willing to take losses and very few do outside of civs because most civs care about the story, not the result.
-
Maybe time in prison would help, but what about heavier fines? Everyone is trying to make money, so hitting their wallets seems to be the biggest thing that could be done to curb this obnoxious behaviour. I posted the concept of valuing your life/freedom in another thread. See, those that get into shootouts with cops are inherently violating the most basic principle of RP, valuing your life, but that's never discussed. This would fall under fear rp. The solution is not entirely IC, the ways rules are enforced have to be changed in order for anything to work. Require higher level RP. The police are so overwhelmed as it is that they can't do anything currently and get bad attitudes towards civs who complain IC. Making it so PD can handle their workload would increase the RP.

Best of luck to you in the future, sending positive thoughts your way.

Update rulebook regarding scamming and server announcements
Reckless311 replied to Yputi's topic in Archive
+1 No crime allowed should mean NO crime. Hence it's a variation from the rules that two crimes are allowed in ncz's. Fraud and tax evasion. It's contradictory to the very name of no crime zone, so yes it should be added in this instance as it is a special exception. -
Add getting ID as a command from corpse or allow other form of RP
Reckless311 replied to AnnoyingOne's topic in Archive
Yes, it's s bit of a conundrum to figure out logistically, but making it so criminals are harder to id is not a good solution and borders on pg. A command to implement fingerprint body and if they met those criteria then it would give you their name perhaps? If not it wouldn't return anything -

If they'd been arrested before or had a gun license, then they'd have fingerprints on file so they could identify them that way. So you're trying to benefit one side while punishing the other. It's a little slanted currently, but it's necessary since criminals have pretty much free reign. The RP should be carried out by PD to fingerprint the corpse if they needed or wanted to ID them. -1 -
+1 Great idea! I think this would definitely increase roleplay for criminals as well as lead to more crime if the criminal on criminal variety. Perhaps giving a break to us poor civilians. What if robbing a store had a % chance of being traced money that would set off alarms and possibly a warrant/bolo for the perpetrator? Not sure how hard that would be to code, but it would add a little something to the RP environment.
