Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons
Jordan replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
Gangs *SHOULD* have the "monopoly" over other gangs, thats what creates more RP, this is why the tier system gives different gangs different rewards at different tiers, it encourages other gangs to work with one another to interact without always resulting in PVP, thats my point. -

I feel like there's an unnecessary focus on realism over gameplay in this discussion. Balance and RP take priority over realism (atleast in my opinion) -

Even if the player base of the server thought how you're saying they think, a lot of them would be removed fairly quickly as those players are very easy to separate from the players who want to RP. I'd say the majority of the playerbase that has Armor will only use it when they know theyre pulling up to a fight or lab and need to use it. I simply do not think we can reach common ground here, sure its not "Realistic" because its not really "Hidden behind some mystical tier" but we have to remember this is a Video Game Server, just as its not realistic to have tiers for gangs, its not realistic for cops to be able to pull insane amounts of weapons out of the trunk of their car, or for a criminal to die and wake up and go to a lab 30 minutes later, I feel we should move towards realism but without tarnishing gameplay. -

In my own personal opinion this idea comes a lot from a PVP perspective. Now I will say that may not be what you're saying, but personally I do not believe Body Armor should be readily available in any capacity. Allowing it to be purchased legally is a little silly for the reasons already said in this discussion before. But again: With the way FM 2.0 works it encourages more roleplay interaction with other gangs in the city. Your group can just as easily find a group that sells Body Armor and purchase it from them its not very difficult to find. I understand your reason for "Realistically" wanting armor purchasable but we have to think about the balancing of the server, if you give anyone access to armor suddenly giving them as a tier reward for gangs that have worked for it means much much less. -
+1 I think it would be cool to have some more MD RP i've seen some cool stuff with Alt-RP and It would be really cool to see some more MD RP in the sense of conditions/diseases needing treatment, but if it were to happen I feel it wouldn't affect gameplay TOO too much.

^ This aswell, I feel that if we were to allow the legal purchase of body armor it would take away from the accomplishments and growth of factions with FM 2.0 While FM 2.0 atleast in my opinion still needs a lot of work, one of the great things they did was the tier system and the sense of progression. Adding body armor for just anyone to buy would hurt that progression because that reward would feel less impactful. Armor can only really turn the tide in a fight if you have numbers that can match up against another gang. If a big faction of say 10 or 11 were to pull up to a smaller gang with say numbers of 4 to 6 I personally dont think Body Armor would change the tide of the fight that much. -

While I understand the intent behind this suggestion I have to unfortunately disagree. Giving these criminal factions a "Monopoly" as you put it, over these items increases RP as Civilians rply wouldn't have a need for body armor the same as criminals would. Things like gun selling and what not adds a lot of RP for certain gangs. There are gangs in the server that make it their identity to sell things like body armor, making it widely available would take away from that RP. I would be open to the idea if it was highly restricted and some what lesser like maybe a license with no criminal record that gives you 25/50 AP Armor. Other than that though I think this would do more harm than good. -

Yeah I can somewhat agree like I said in my original response, I don't doubt it doesn't happen but I reckon those are few and far between considering what I personally know about the petty reports (its something I spoke about in FM 2.0 Feedback aswell) I dont think these happen nearly enough to say that Refund Requests are the root of the problem when more often than not a lot of reports that are considered "petty" seemingly come from a different goal.
-
-1, Personally as a long time crim on the server I'd have to fully and completely disagree. The refund system can be abused yes, but needless to say staff does everything within their power to make sure its not. Regardless whether or not this change were to be made it would cause a circus of other issues. If you are a crim, and you go down to a lab and someone is hacking and DMing and shoots you through a wall, kills you with no escalation etc, and you lose your guns, your equipment and your drugs all because someone decided that they were above the rules, you have to face the consequences for something that should've never happened in the first place. I understand what you mean by saying "You accept the consequences" however this is irrelevant given the fact in some cases its completely out of their power to do anything but. Its unreasonable to assume everyone on the server reports to make a refund request. In my experience a lot of "petty reports" made by factions happen in hopes of the faction getting punished instead of getting a refund. I feel as if removing the ability to make a refund request as a crim to get your stuff back that you lost due to a rulebreak wouldnt help the issue of petty reports in the slightest, because ultimately "Petty reports" are made for a variety of reasons and I for one dont believe they are made for a refund request to get accepted. Some maybe, sure but for the most part I've seen gangs lose a singular .50, I refuse to believe someone would make a report in hopes of getting back 1 .50 when they have an armory in their stash house. Additionally, i'd like to comment by saying: Staff deals with reports daily, and even if a report is made to get a refund request accepted, and it does whats the harm exactly? Why wouldn't they be given their stuff back? It does no harm to the game, the community of the server either because ultimately that crim is gonna stay crim and they're gonna get their things back at some point regardless of a refund request. The only thing taking away refunds from crims would do is harbor harsh feelings toward staff for taking away something thats been in the server for a long time. I understand where you're coming from but I really dont think this (should it be implemented) would do anything good for the community, but thats just my personal take on the matter.

You are a superstar!!!!

Yeah ive downloaded it and based on the pictures im missing the bottom row its all good though! I might be able to find a work around either way I appreciate the addition!

Can you make a version that has only 2 rows? I have the newer Stream deck with the dials and I dont have access to that third row

I want to thank you personally @britbritxo A little over a year ago now, my friends had an interaction with a select few individuals that I thought would be considered gross RP, however because of how the rule used to be written, they were actually absolved from any punishments. I am no longer friends with those who were affected, but at the time we had made a community post asking to have the rule be changed to accommodate for those who simply didn't like that kind of RP. At the time it was denied and I believe archived, but now you've done something I truly and wholeheartedly appreciate. So Thank you! I really appreciate you and your contribution to the community it truly means a lot.

Major +1 I play crim mainly, aswell as being a faction leader I feel as if I have a lot of insight on this particular subject. Ive been gunning for a labs rework forever. Nothing against people who are on their grind but generally even if you disagree with what this post is proposing there is no denying these labs are a nest for PVP mentality. I do think private labs could benefit RP, as Astrx said however, I do foresee this being a double edged sword players undoubtedly will abuse this and find a secret spot to cook at. I have no big ideas that would immediately counter it but hopefully to start the conversation: Perhaps a rule implementation? Realistically criminals would not make a lab on an island that is rply ruled by the Cartel i.E Cayo. Aswell as a random remote island that requires them to swim through the tides to get to. Other than that, another point ive seen that I agree with is that this does put LEOs at an advantage. No shade against GND or Gang Unit, I love them and have had really good RP with them. But thats not to say its ALL good RP. LEOs have a lot of power in the server, and I understand we're always working at a good balance. However if we make it to where it gives a boost to cook in your own territory GND aswell as Gang Unit have no rp reason NOT TO patrol turf run by a specific gang. In this example i'll use Waterfelons for instance. If GND is around they might think to check Waterfelon turf and because there is no rule against it since rply this is their job, its only a matter of time before they find out where we're camped up cooking. This in turn makes it VERY easy for LEOs to find private cooks, this would kind of hurt the progress of smaller gangs with little to no turf I fear. -
+1 if we could maybe find a way to make it dependent on the amount of LEOs online.

I like the idea, For the most part I agree with what hector said. So just to add onto that I have a few more suggestions: 1.) Give new players the option to have different spawn locations. This can help them coordinate with friends if they start the server together, and it also help others get a head start if they're being introduced to the server by a friend. 2.) I know New Players get a set VIP status for a while, maybe make it known to them that they have that because Im not sure many New Players are exactly aware that its a thing they have until its gone and they appreciate it much less. 3.) And Finally: Maybe assist them further with how to get started I know when I first started its very overwhelming and as Pads said its just a lot when you first start out. maybe direct new players towards freelance jobs more? Im not sure exactly how you would do this, but im sure theres a way to inspire new players to look into those more.

Staff looks at every suggestion and considers as much as they can. A lot of it takes time between development and consideration
