I know that there is already a considerable amount of debate regarding players starting businesses that would directly or indirectly compete with major factions like the LSEMS and DCC. I would like to start a discussion here regarding the latter, that is the DCC and possiblity of factions that could function in a similar manner as the DCC. To give the reader some context, I have ICly attempted to start a cab company of my own and there are certain things that a cab service would require at the bare minimum. For example, a fare meter. Or even a treasury system where the funds would be collected when the fares are collected. I tried executing the idea of running the above said business without these things and I must confess it is extremely complicated and it tends to slow down RP. Also the lack of a common means of communication with customers causes a massive mess.

I am not here to complain. Rather I am here to suggest that these changes be made possible and available to players so that there can be a new angle to businesses that players could use to expand the RP possibilities when it comes to business and introduce that element of fair competition.

Please do participate in the discussion. This is my first open thread regarding something like this, thus my apologies if I made any error in my words or format.

I am all for free enterprise. However like any business, To make it different from just any other business as it will give script access.

people should pay a reasonable amount of money to start a taxi company or mechanic shop, and they’ll also have to be approved by the admins so that the location fits the roleplay and is not nonrp.

-1 on another taxi company, it would just bring nothing to the table. Taxis are not used as much in the city, a lot of times DCC will not have enough people on staff as it is, so why would you expect 2 companies could operate effectively rather than inconveniencing everyone by having to check with different companies who can pick them up etc.

The server does not offer a high enough demand for every service. LSC and Bayview are both of the same, but they are needed as they provide a service that most people use. Weazel is the only platform for news and ads, but people can use the forums for advertisements and the addition of lifeinvader created an opportunity for people to run a news blog.

A few things that could potentially help you out is knowing what you have available in the current scripts. /setgps allows you to go to any address if the customer knows it otherwise you go based on landmarks. You can use the wiretransfer option that is available in your phone to charge people at the start of the ride, rather than at the end.

I don't think the server needs another taxi company, but if someone managed to start an uber type service with the current system available and managed to show some form of longevity, i think the developers will look at adding something then. If you can't show any longevity of your own company, why would the developers spend time on making something like this happen in the first place. I don't think it is too much to expect from people to try to work with the script that they have right now and if they can show promise to ask for further assistance from developers in making it work. Honestly maybe even start a faction thread for that and work your way up.

Taxi company already exists. Let's see what we can do to improve and get involved with it, instead of creating another.

+1 on the condition that said rival company was offering different services and something unique

I think players having more options to create their own business' is only a healthy thing for the server, provided those business' are giving unique and interesting services/RP, how this could be implemented, I don't know, but I do think it's an interesting suggestion. I can understand the -1s as well however, a direct competitor offering the same exact service as DCC just with a different price wouldn't be beneficial to the server at all

But dcc and admins it seems has restrictions on that and is yellow all the way! Woah!  I beg them to have black on black cars or other cars. But dcc management is limited to what they “can actually do”

in that restrictive manner, I +1 for a separate car service company to have something different! Pft.

solutions: have the admins remove restrictions from the dcc management to allow for more opportunities of changes, and not restrict them so much. Lots of ppl in DCC want nicer looking and decent black or other formal color cars. Even the owner does, but is limited due to OOC restrictions! Ye thats right!

We do not plan on implementing a fare system to any other vehicles. There are plenty of ways which you can replicate this.
