  2. Little Seoul Apartments I was looking for apartments/properties that would make sense for my character to rent in Little Seoul that would make IC sense but it's been difficult because many of the doors cannot be reached (as they are several floors high or closed off by balconies). Please see below for apartment complexes I am referring to. I recommend implementing a script for Little Seoul apartments. This would be similar to the script implemented for the high-end apartments in Eclipse Towers, which would have several floors (Floors 1-5). Players can select a floor, which would lead them to a corridor with multiple other properties, maybe 8 doors a floor. Each flat/room would, of course, be at the lower-end (like a 1G or 2G). There would have to be a way to stop prices from increasing as they are realistically meant to be low-end, affordable apartments. Maybe there is a cap on how much these apartments can be re-sold for to ensure people are buying the property not because of price alone, but because they are leading by where their character would live realistically. In other words, there would be no profit in having these apartments. I also recommend that any unsilenced gunshots or shouting (using the /s function) sounded in the corridor would be automatically heard by anyone that is in that floor to allow RP for surrounding players. For example: John_Doe shouts (corridor): GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HERE OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET SHOT. You would hear a pistol shot ring loudly in the corridor. You would hear a pistol shot ring loudly in the corridor. You would hear a pistol shot ring loudly in the corridor.

  4. (( Thank you to @Maccy for capturing the actual event in video and to Burnout Nation for hosting it! ))
  5. I've had conversations with other players where they don't quite realise how much they can do with the help of staff, so maybe there could be a focus on promoting alternative RP as something that is actually a real, plausible possibility. At the minute, there is no written definition of what alternative RP even is and what we can do, so this might be a good start. I think that this responsibility - planning, hosting, forwarding alternative RP ideas - falls to the faction leaders, since they should be ensuring that the faction is constantly moving forward in terms of RP, lore, and story enrichment. I personally recommend that guides sit down with faction leaders of their respective factions to discuss what alternative RP is and isn't (e.g. it's not just "rewards" and items being spawned in, it's not just a get-out-of-jail-free card), what is a reasonable ask from staff, what is unreasonable, expectations, and the actual procedure in place for current requests, give faction leaders ideas etc. This will assist in transparency, keeping faction leaders informed so that they can help members of their own faction when they have ideas, as well as make them feel more comfortable and less burdened to approach staff about their ideas. This can then be forwarded to faction members (via. voice chat, announcements, new discord channel specifically for alternative RP requests). By doing this, maybe it will increase the amounts of alternative RP requests coming in, which will consequently help in the understanding of what can make the current system better, as mentioned by @Aldarine .
  6. +1. I definitely resonate with the fact that a system needs to be put in place to make sure that alternative RP requests are processed fairly, efficiently, and to ensure that the RP produced is good quality. It is very time consuming to write and plan RP, as I'm sure it is for staff to support players in carrying the RP out. For what looks like a simple request, it may require 4 different staff members, which is 4 staff members that can no longer assist with reports or carry out other administrative tasks for the server for the 1, 2 hours they are helping a faction. However, the previous system was to submit a form to any Senior Administrator, and through both Senior Administrators, I would receive a response within 2 days. The new system now has more steps, which is slower and more demotivating when you are not really sure what is going on or if the application is being looked at or forgotten. I can only speak from my experience, but I can definitely say that a more open communication approach - what stage the alternative RP application is at, when it's being looked at, how long are we expected to wait - would be more motivating from a requesting party's point of view. Maybe a form can be put in place, which would ask some fundamental questions. I'd probably limit this to official factions only to mediate workload for staff. For example: 1. What is the backstory leading up to your request? 2. What do you require from staff (i.e. what rules do you need bypassed, what do you need spawned, what characters do you need roleplayed and what main characteristics are required in terms of backstory/personality/ethnicity/model, do you require jail time to be re-adjusted or fees to be covered if it makes IC sense?) 3. What outcomes are you expecting for your RP? This would then be reviewed by said team or a group of staff members, then relayed back to the reporting player with questions and suggestions to make the RP even better. EDIT: I would like to say that I have had experiences with specific staff members where I have been so excited to share my ideas with them and feel really supported with their help. I think how people feel about their ideas is one of the most important things about carrying them out and there should be more focus in fostering and protecting this creativity, which does mean a little bit more communication.
  7. While I can understand your sentiment, I can’t fully agree. There are definitely ways to RP while the back-up rule is implemented. If you’re talking about grouping to “defeat a common enemy” per verbatim, at one point while I was in Daichead Gadai, we made a call for all gangs and organisations based in the city as everyone’s turfs were getting sold and dealt on by the Goblins, who historically stayed in Blaine Country areas. Through many discussions, mediating tensions (for example trying to get the Russians and Ballas to set aside their issues for the purpose of one common goal), and teamwork, we were able to deal and sell on all their turfs within a day to send them a message. This did not require any back-up whatsoever, and still accounted for a great deal of RP and development. Yes, while you cannot run labs with other gangs or shoot and kill other gangs in short-lived shoot-ours, I don’t believe it to be depriving of RP. It is also totally counter-productive to have multiple gangs fighting one common enemy in regards to the NLR rule. As it stands, when two organisations get into a large altercation where one group is majority killed, they become John Doe and the “RP” resets so to speak to allow for new escalation. However, if multiple gangs are fighting together to “defeat” a singular organisation, suddenly the NLR rule is very difficult to navigate and will simply spiral and continue until no ends. Regarding realism - I believe someone has already mentioned it under this thread - but as much as it is unrealistic to not be able to join a shootout with allies, it is also unrealistic to be on the same radio frequency with 3, 4 other gangs for the purpose of shoot-outs. Perhaps there can be a consideration for a quantifiable, said limit that you mentioned, but for now, I believe the rule is important for realism and overall the health of the server (particularly for new gangs that want to start up and for people to focus on their own fights, developments, and RP).
  8. There are ways to avoid this, such as going on a different frequency with said gang that you are doing a task with and being sure the only people on the frequency are the people that are physically there together. Alternatively, if you’re suddenly fighting and you notice another faction is involved, you simply tell over the frequency that you and other X faction have it under control and not to come OR someone not involved can say they’ve got help by X faction, they have it under control. At that point, the fault falls on anyone that comes to assist when it’s been made clear not to get involved. Admittedly, it is a difficult rule to get your head around initially but it is fundamentally very simple in practice. I have a copy and paste outline of the rule that I’ve been sharing in announcements since the rule was established which I’m happy to share, feel free to PM if you’d like to have it to share to other respective factions or for your own understanding.
  9. Thank you to Mike_Reggal from Ballas for filming the majority of the event and allowing me to clip it and upload it into different segments, please watch the full clip here.
  10. I remember The Spades tried going down this avenue of RP and turned their RV into a mobile healthcare unit for criminals. You would be able to call them for RP opportunities, which I think was cool. The idea in general is great, but I’d prefer this type of RP created by community members over something that is implemented by script, personally. For that reason, I’m going to -1, respectfully!
  11. Hey! I thought it would be good to clarify a few things on the Jewellery Heist because it was mentioned in the original post. This was an alternative RP request, which means I wrote up a document requesting several things to be approved by SA that would help facilitate the RP opp. Concerning jail times/fines, we asked that the jail fines would be paid because if you successfully rob a jewellery store, you would have enough money to pay back the fines. The charges placed and hours spent in prison did not change. If you’re part of a faction, I definitely recommend speaking to your faction leaders about your ideas and other creative planning if you’d like to do the same because it’s not impossible!
  12. ravyn you never fail to impress, this is fucking amazing!!!!
