How to fix PD and make the *game* balanced, a pd suggestion
Bala replied to AnakinB's topic in Game Suggestions
This again? Since you know so vividly what other people doing to you, maybe you can finally tell me what roleplay and description of your injuries you are giving to the medics? Also, you can use gauze when treating a gun shot wound, to put pressure on the bleed and slow it down so that is a correct part of your treatment. As for your golf course of injuries analogy, you can't force your own death so there's always going to need to be a reasonably quick resolution to treating your injuries. There's literally a timer. I'm sure the medical faction would have no problem dealing with your injuries in greater length at the hospital. This is of course before your prison sentence would start. I assume you would be satisfied to lay there in Pillbox for 30 minutes to an hour while you get the realistic medical roleplay you seek, right? -
I'm opposed to making my time on the server less convenient so players like Anakin Bridge can feel they have more of a chance of evading cops after they've done something blatant to get themselves caught. It's not a serious role-play server, it's a server where everyone leans on the meta rather than playing a character because it's easier. Let's call a spade a spade. I don't mind that it being that but let's just be honest about it. We could make jail times half an hour and you know what would happen? People would tab out or be miserable for 30 minutes instead of four hours before going back out and doing the same kind of foolishness that got them caught in the first place. There would be no consequence, especially for the players that have already made their fortunes. I get paid $8k an hour, after spending three years in the same faction. I get hit with the 35% tax so really, I get $5.2k an hour. I have to pay for my own food, drink and radio. I also have to pay any injury fees if you kill me and I cannot refuse to help you or put myself in harms way because then I would be corrupt. You then want me to pay for my fuel, my weapon to defend myself and other people as well as a vehicle to drive around in. Yes, criminals don't get paid by the server. Yes, criminals have to pay fines and such when they go to prison. But Criminals also have the freedom to do whatever they like to make money. The only way a cop can make money is showing up for work. If you privatise the Police Department, what you think will happen? No one is giving anyone any leniency off tickets. The charges that you THINK are being stacked on you when really you just don't know enough about the penal code are all going on. You will end up paying more in the long run if we went this way, 100%. Where would be the incentive to be a police officer with such a minor pay. Game wise, makes no sense, I'd be better off at DCC again where I can pay less and make more. Realism wise, LAPD Officers don't buy their own weapons and vehicles. It's not Call of Duty Warzone. You might say I could do it for the RP? Yes, I'm going to do it for your RP where you jump all over my now purchased car for no fucking reason, call me a bald cunt fifty times like it's an xbox lobby, run and jump away after being tazered a few times and ultimately when the RP is done, decide to report me on the forums because you don't like the way the situation went.

I’ve stood up for the crim side of things and pushed this and that so it’s not that I’m against crim RP or anything like that. We just aren’t the root cause, we’re a symptom of the negativity you feel. We have our own complaints as well but your anger is misplaced.

This thread is like a game of chinese whispers. The OP starts off on a tirade of half truths and it gets progressively more inaccurate as the replies come in. Yes, you can use /fl from your vehicle to get new weapons, but you also have to do roleplay beforehand of taking that weapon and storing it or you cannot use it. That would be powergaming and that person would be not just in trouble with the staff team but with the faction they were in too. You say you are tired of 40 cops chasing one person because there is nothing to do. First of all, I'd imagine it would be incredibly rare that 40 cops would chase one guy in 2022 and if they did, homie has the WMDs on him so it's not going to be for no reason. When you exaggerate like that, you lose credibility. I'm tired of certain official factions cop-baiting police chases because there is nothing to do but you know what, tough fucking titty. You gotta chase them in their little Issi Sports anyway. As for the Jugular, don't even. Driving that thing is like putting lipstick on a pig. It is not that the jail time is too long, it is that the prison set-up sucks. As for paying for our own cars and weapons, you know what bring that shit on but you best believe that that money you are paying for your illegal parking fines or your face concealment (b) is going to fund my new $16k an hour paycheque. Then I'm not letting you off any charge you deserve because me and my fellow faction members need the money to be able to do our jobs in the server properly. I dunno who is deploying three shinobis but it shouldn't be PD. As for this argument about not being able to beat PD, you know why? Because you ain't supposed to be fighting the police! If we're armed to the teeth and decked out with all the best shit, why on earth would you even think about fighting us. I know people love the realism angle so if gangs start shooting cops in real life, what happens? They get wiped and jailed for life. On ECRP, you get prison for 4 hours and then you're out. I get the criminal side of things sucks right now but targeting your frustrations at the PD or SD is really lazy. Half of you, I'm sorry but you're just bad at the criminal thing man. You make it so obvious, it's too easy. I don't like you guys cover your faces all the time but with /alias, it's necessary. I don't like that all of you run around with radios that have no limited distance or battery power but it's necessary. I don't like that you guys all wear the same colours of clothing, but it's necessary. I don't like that the Issi Sport is a credit store vehicle but it is. I don't like that people like the OP are very quick to blame others but take zero accountability for their own actions. I don't like that people are so anal about dying in a video game when they can literally pretend nothing happened I don't like that our forum report system is weaponised by individuals to try and get back at other individuals that won a situation. I could go on and on about the things I don't like about criminal role-players but you have some legitimate problems with the server and I do sympathise and have tried to help as much as anyone. It ain't PD or SD though.

-1. I think modifying the base game should be a personal choice and reflective of the sort of environment that the player themselves wish to play in. Some like yourself prefer realistic gun sounds and there is no problem with that, but that's also not going to be everyone's taste. The recent rule change is disappointing to me because I feel like we've limited our players, in a way that our contemporary servers do not. I think if people like you want to have more realistic sounding firearms, that's up to you. I'm part of the modding team and I come from SA:MP, modding your game is like second nature. I didn't personally ever really go for the sound or graphic mods because I like a clean game and I don't like my performance negatively impacted. In my view and I can appreciate this might not be a popular opinion but I don't see the issue with the sound mods or the shadow tweaks for that matter because I don't see the combat as an all important element to a roleplay server. It's simply a means to an end. If this was Rust or DayZ for example, I would feel differently. But someone stretching their resolution or making their gun sound different or tweaking their graphical settings to me doesn't mean anything. My thinking is, it's not been a problem really until the past few months so why change it? Anyways to circle back to the suggestion, I don't want to force that on people if they don't want it.
-
Kris would try and make it permanent, so I can't.
-
Those grieveances you have sound really in-character to be hones and should probably stay there. Don't think DOC have to justify how they do things. Prison is shit, it's always been shit, yet they've found a way to have a faction of 50 people and still be somewhat active. More power to them, I couldn't do it.
-
For the record, this was something that we've been discussing so we're all aware of it being an issue at this time. I'd mentioned it in the suggestion thread below and while I cannot say for sure if that is the direction we'll take, the addressing of there not being a "social hub" is one that we're actively looking into. Right now though, the focus and attention is on the remainder of the Criminal Update and the Clothing Update so we will have to wait and see what shakes loose.
-
The key here is to understand that it's not supposed to be perfectly balanced. If you want to look at it from a real world point of view, yes, people get away with shit but i'd say probably most criminals get caught at some point. If you want to look at it from a game point of view, the advantage swings; Before you do something, you have the advantage as PD/SD is reactionary. For us to do something, you have to do something first. When you are doing something, the odds begin to even. When you've done something, the odds are in PD/SD's favour. There are seldom times where criminals do actually think to switch up what they are doing and play things smart. Over time, even without all the units, you get used to the same approaches over and over. So when criminals do switch it up and do things differently, it can be more difficult to catch them. The goal for us is to do what we can to catch you. The goal for you is to doing what you want and get away with it.

+1. For balance though, you can't IA report or forum report if cops shoot first.

The upcoming clothing update

In the clothing update, you should have a lot more options when it comes to undershirts.

SHOPPING MALL As part of the modifications team, I'm always looking for new ways in which we can use modifications to benefit the server and add to what we already have. Now I'm currently of the opinion that we do not really currently have much of a main location in the server where people tend to congregate and interact with one another. Good or bad interactions, I think that person-to-person interaction is essential for an RP server and in ECRP, we're sometimes a little bit lacking in that area. There was a very successful server on SA:MP that had a shopping mall as one of it's focal points which worked incredibly well for a long time. When I joined ECRP, it was the LS Bank. Later on, it became the Pier. These days, Burger Shot is kind of one of these points but once you have your food, you dip out. In looking through the current available MLOs people are selling, I came upon the Shmann's Shopping Mall and I think that the implementation and establishment of this area in our server would be incredibly beneficial to our player base in general. This is some of what the Shopping Mall contains. 3 Food Stores (Burgershot, Italian, Cluckin' Bell). 1 24/7 1 Suburban clothing store. 1 Ponsonbys clothing store. 1 Ammunation. 1 Electronics Store. 1 Japanese restaurant. 1 Bank. 1 Barber. 1 Tattoo shop. 1 Nail studio. Now, given Burger Shot is already a thing, the food stores could just be unscripted. But you have a 24/7, Gun Store, Clothing Stores, a Bank, Barber, Tattoo Shop and Nail Place all under one roof. That's like 6-7 reasons to visit the mall before you get to any kind of interaction with another player. That's at least two additional businesses that would be purchasable as well. For the rooms we do not have a use for, we could also repurpose them. There are a number of locations that could also be robbed. Fish could be dropped off by fisherman at the Japanese Sushi Restaurant, which makes sense. There is a room for events and for auctions as well. There is a large parking lot for parking in the area underneath the building and it's pretty much slap bang in the middle of the city. Ultimately, it's an excellent opportunity for people to meet and socialise in a setting that naturally encourages them to do so. There would also be the potential for us to clear out some of the unused stores, have people buy those stores and decorate them themselves in the future to sell their goods. Trailer Walkthrough

We need more P2P roleplay, not less. As for whether or not people like doing it, it's part of the job.
-
All things considered, I think waiting up to ten minutes is reasonable. To be honest, when I've been in game, the impound lot buzzer is almost always responded to when there's a free unit. That might change in different timezones and stuff but let's not make out like PD ignores the impound or anything like that. That said, if it was over 10 minutes, it does start to take the piss. Hopefully if we choose to go with the more centralised impound location, it'll make it more convenient but I'll be honest, I don't see automating the process as the move. It's one of the only mostly positive interactions I have with crims in the server and it's a good chance to get to know people without them sticking a camera in your face or calling you a NONCE.

Oh boy, I'm going to choose my words very carefully for obvious reasons but this is how I see it, particularly since I got tagged here. You can't really say that a server that gets 100-250 people a day is dying but at the same time, I don't see any new growth which in the long term would be cause for concern. With regards to the OPs comment, I think as long as you have a server to play on and you get the perks you are offered when you donate, that's as far as the obligation between donator and recipient goes to be honest. That said, the happier your player base is, the more inclined they are to donate to support the server so in a sense it does go hand in hand. I agree with Ronnie, I do think at this point, the needs of server for development outweigh the capabilities of NBDY and Osvaldon. Those needs continue to grow as different areas of the server go without updates. Demand increases while supply is minimal. Even if they both go at it full time, I think it only makes a dent. The only way I can see them getting on top of it is bringing other developers on board but that comes with it's own headaches. You can't just be responsible for your own work then, you have to supervise someone elses. You also have to give people the access to do things which is another thing to manage. I'm not one of these people that just fucking moans and then never offers any solutions. Since July last year, I with a few others have put a shit load of time into modifications for the server with only a few of them even making in so far which is honestly annoying. Stuff that would set our server apart from the others, improve the presentation of our roleplay environment and expand on what we have. I don't get paid for this, I did because I could, because I enjoyed the server and I get a kick out of making stuff for others to enjoy. I genuinely hope that as much of that stuff is implemented as it possibly can be because there's some fucking dope shit in there. That said, again adding mod stuff takes development time so the process becomes slower. Updated MLOs, new vehicles, new uniforms, new hair, map fixes.. all of that stuff isn't necessarily a game changer but it adds an extra dimension to the environment, it makes Eclipse's version of the GTA 5 map feel a little more lived in and personal to our server. I think alexalex's post is a little naïve to be honest. I think where ECRP is in 2022, we're overly reliant on the loyalty of existing players which is finite. Every player has their jumping off point and I'm not sure "be the change you want to see" is practical. I think if you play the character instead of the meta, you get fucked on. I think if you try to go outside the norm with your roleplay, you get fucked on. I don't think expanding your character is rewarded and I don't think adding detail is necessarily rewarded either. Not that many people are putting themselves out there long term to lead the way for others. I think at this point, you have to show a little titty and give people a reason to log in and to do x and y. Quality wise, overall we're probably an average roleplay server and we require the script to prop us up because the people that can construct in-depth characters with lengthy back stories and add all the extra details and meanings to their actions don't go here. That's fine, what this server does, this server does well. But for what this server does well to work, you need a lot of script support to help that along. Instead of consolidating and embracing what we do well, we've tried to be something we're not. We have two full size police departments and not enough motivated criminals to support them. We have a Court system where no one in the entire server really seems to fully understand what the laws are half the time. We don't enough people on the ground and out in the regular world but we're putting people into the sky now? We have two mechanic factions and one of them changes leaders every two months. We have a staff team that all seem to be trying to enforce rules for different servers and from what I can see, are seemingly content with preserving the status quo than pushing for real change. It just doesn't feel like there is a plan any more, it just feels like we're on auto-pilot waiting for another population boom to happen so we can convince ourselves what we're doing is working. I'm sick of repeating myself, feel like I've said the same thing ten different times on ten different threads and I seem to spend more time complaining than I do playing. I've tried to be respectful with what I've said but this shit really isn't hard to fix. Just no one will until it's too late and we're all talking about how things used to be and how we wish we'd done stuff differently.

I didn't make the back up rule, blame the criminal factions that wanted to play human centipede with one another and kill everyone else off, for that. As for PD, we've got 100 members and the most we will have on at any one time is Sunday for the meeting, when there's maybe 20-30 PD on. You wouldn't get all of the PD on at the same time because we're in all different time-zones where as smaller factions tend to congregate and recruit in specific times of day My point was, that if the server got to that point for me and PD, I'd rather do something else with my time.

So the TLDR of this, is don’t be a dick because the grass isn’t greener on the other side? I know an entire collection of forum role players that could have benefitted from such wisdom. Best of luck with your return in the Fall.

Doesn't the pushing a car work by putting an NPC in the front seat? To a degree, you can maybe ignore that because they are inside the car but on a bike, it would be a bit of a weird visual.
-
Ironically, the roadworks job is probably the one job that wearing a mask might make sure. But, then you have to consider this is Eclipse. There is a mask culture that bleeds into every activity. Whether it's robbing a store or getting your salary or working at Burger Shot etc.. I take your point but I wouldn't think too deeply about them doing it. There is perhaps something to be said for having an RP server that relies on interaction and people continuously hide their face so you cannot tell who is who, which would make it more likely that you would interact I guess.
-
I don't think so, keeping it simple makes the most sense to me.

Ok Spiderman. The server we have is one where some of our population has strained relationship with the English Language, with being able to take any kind of loss without complaining, that drops real money on an Issi Sport because it's a meta vehicle, where braking going around corners is more a suggestion than a requirement, where character development is seen as a luxury that most cannot afford etc.. When the extent of medical roleplay is "/do broken back", it makes no sense to start getting creative with injury times based on where you get hit or with what. You know why? Because people will roleplay it the same regardless UNLESS as always, it's a situation where a faster death might benefit them. But yeah sure, hurr durr cop bias.
-
-1, for the server we have, we should treat all injuries the same to not overcomplicate matters. It works best when you don't think about it too much.
