HighTV Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) Currently after 3 days IRL of not paying a ticket IC a warrant is placed for your Characters arrest and can only be removed by them serving the jail time. In my opinion Its unrealistic to punish a character so severely for something that happens in real life. When you pay off all of your parking tickets you should not be able to be arrested for failing to pay them. As a non criminal character you are left with no choices but to get arrested and that doesn't feel good, especially if you were chased into the NCZ that got you the speeding/reckless operator ticket. This would also help very much with the current state of the impound lot. Its not good RP to wait hours to get help that actually arrests you, because of a warrant over tickets you already paid for. There is also the reverse issue as well where serving jail time for the tickets don't erase the tickets. Edited April 16, 2019 by HighTV

The only time you get a warrant for not paying a ticket is if an Officer sees you have not paid a ticket and manually places a misdemeanour charge on you for "failure to pay a fine". You can't pay this away and then not be wanted, as it is a charge that requires you serve a jail sentence. This is not an automatic system, again, it only happens if an Officer places that charge on you. If an Officer places this charge on you without a valid reason then this is an In-Character issue and can be dealt with IC'ly by reporting the Officer to internal affairs here: https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3259

Normally kill the engine out of common curtasy but when i pull off you have to turn the /cruise OFF and back ON again, every god damn time and i would get a ticket for doing 75-82. Now i'm a wanted criminal for 'reckless operation' just because the /cruise is fked, i'm not going down like that after years of character building someone who isn't a criminal. - Paid all my tickets, how very stupid of me. I have not given my characters name to an officer or shown his ID since before these speed cameras, but he still received a warrant for tickets. I feel its very unlikely an officer manually put a warrant out for my character, unless for some reason an officer gave the warrant when they towed his car while I was offline. ( Server reset moved my car then it got towed) Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe someone here has overdue tickets but doesn't have a warrant out for them?

If (big if) officers are placing warrants for the owners while impounding cars I think there should be a reconsideration on how that works mechanically OOC. Not only is there an OOC 3 day time limit to pay the tickets, but currently server resets move your cars location if its not in a garage. This feel extremely punishing IC for OOC reasons If cops are issuing warrants while impounding cars. Edited April 15, 2019 by HighTV
Ethan Turner Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 @HighTV i asked the officer and he said it was due to reckless driving which i had a ticket for which i payed but after and my car was also impounded when i was offline but maybe someone stole it and i got a ticket instead but i doubt that happened.

That's "reckless operation". The Automatic radar system feels nonRP because they couldn't prove IC that it wasn't a friend borrowing your car. I understand the need for it, but I wish they wouldn't punish people so hard at the impound lot over it. The impound lot is already a black hole for RP

Victor Einhart Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle is issued if you drive over 80 kph over the speed limit (150kph or above, speed limit is 70kph) in NCZs within the city, and is issued automatically by the speed cameras set up in these zones. You don't get fined anywhere else. Reckless Operation carries 45 minutes of jail time, and a $2,000 fine. Paying the fine is only half the story: you'll still have an active warrant for your arrest. My advice, don't floor it everywhere you go. Or at least just drive slowly in NCZs. 1
Marca Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 Victor above is correct about the reckless driving charge. You only get it if you're going above 150km/h past a speed camera. Another thing about speed cameras is that they only issue 2nd and 3rd degree speeding tickets, while ignoring the first. So you'll only get a speeding ticket if you go 10 above the speed limit. About unpaid tickets warrants, as said before, those are not automatic. An officer will issue them by hand if your tickets are 3+ days old. When you get a ticket, you also get a text message saying you have to pay it within 3 days or you may get arrested. Only the driver of the vehicle will get a ticket, no matter who's vehicle they're driving. Speed cameras are a OOC solution that will punish you IC for breaking the server rules. Speeding in a NCZ is breaking the server rules.
