GeneralBaby Posted April 7, 2025 Report Posted April 7, 2025 To whom it may concern, I am probably speaking on behalf of most of the community here that believe that 24 hours for a license suspension is too long of a time to wait seeing as you can do less time in jail for murdering someone not only that 24 hours is a long time to wait and restricts you in so many ways for getting about the city especially when theres no citys bees avaliable and no taxis im not saying if you break the law you shouldnt be punished yes you so should be punished but 24 hours pretty much stops someone playing for a whole day which i believe and im sure others would agree seems unfair. kind regards Ronald Bigginsjnr 1
Mikazuki Ueno Posted April 7, 2025 Report Posted April 7, 2025 No need to stop playing, use it as an opportunity to RP with others. 1
GodDammitKopi Posted April 7, 2025 Report Posted April 7, 2025 The cops don’t want you to know this one simple trick. You can still drive with a suspended license. 2 1 1
Arthur2432 Posted April 8, 2025 Report Posted April 8, 2025 I’ve already had my license suspended twice for 48 hours, and it’s awful. As someone who doesnt touch grass, it’s already rough but I can’t imagine how bad it is for people with jobs who come home after work, just wanting to hop on their criminal character, only to find they have to wait two days to drive a car. Honestly, it seems kind of stupid. 1

Demonmit1 Posted April 8, 2025 Report Posted April 8, 2025 short answer 1: dont get caught. short answer 2: you can still drive a car on a suspended license, its just against the law, nothing is stopping you. Long answer: This is a not worth the effort to make as an OOC game suggestion, and you wont get anything changed through it. Laws and their punishments for breaking them are entirely an IC system and made, enforced, and changed through in character ways. how do you change laws in character? 1. join law review committee: https://tinyurl.com/LRC2025-1 2. suggest a Bill to change the length of license suspension on different crimes and convince law review committee members to vote to support it: https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewtopic.php?t=118441 The 24 hour suspension as a standard was previously limited by the script, as license suspensions were handed on a 1/2/3 day basis. the script has been updated that its now based on hours. but the IC laws are still 1 day, so the suspensions are 24 hours. now the script has been updated, progress can be made ICly to get the times reduced or increased depending on the crime committed. this isnt something thats going to be changed from an OOC suggestion.

Eliza Posted April 8, 2025 Report Posted April 8, 2025 Just be passenger princess for a day or whip around a bmx. Or just drive anyways and risk it.
aus7oo Posted April 12, 2025 Report Posted April 12, 2025 Understand the pain of a 24hour and a 48hour mainly for the impound, yeah you can drive on a suspended license but you have to wait 2 days to get any of your cars
Mikazuki Ueno Posted April 12, 2025 Report Posted April 12, 2025 IC consequences for IC actions. It's all part of the roleplay.
Jett_J Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 A suggestion I made before: Instead of suspending a license for X time, just fully remove the license from the player after a license suspension and they can get it back as soon as they redo the driving test at the DMV. That way, there is still IC reprimand for driving illegally without making the game less enjoyable for 24 hours. 1
Ritchie Stones Posted April 30, 2025 Report Posted April 30, 2025 -1 this might be rough, but the mentality wxe heading is WEAK AS FUCK since the last few years in the server. licence and prison time has already been cut by half, and a suspended licence is also not the end of the world I do it all the time and never get caught a second time. just be smarter. The server mentality of a fair amount of people is getting really weak, you want to commit a crime but never do the time. it is an endless boundary that keeps getting pushed slowly. soon 5 hours of suspended licence is also "to long" because you get to play maybe only 3 hours that day. it never stops with complaining, weak people are trying to take over the rule system, trust me for this, crimes and speeding and all that would not be "as exciting" if there was no consequences attached to it, and you would be bored to death and stop playing 1
Bala Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 I'll repeat what I said in another thread but there is a fine line between something being unnecessarily punishing and being without consequences. 24 hours for the most serious traffic offences, is reasonable. I think between 12-24 depending on the severity is absolutely fine. You could log off after getting prisoned, come back on 12 hours later, do your final hour of prison and get out, then go grab your license. Alternatively, don't even scuff the license completely where they have to retake anything, just have it come back when the suspension is over. No need to inconvenience players for the sake of more payout. But there does need to be consequences to your actions.
Mikazuki Ueno Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 Changes to the policy have been in active discussion and I think some players would be shocked to find that myself (Assistant Commanding Officer of the Sheriff TSD) and my counterparts and superiors are all pretty much on the same page and it involves reducing the times and scaling based on crime committed.
Eliza Posted October 24, 2025 Report Posted October 24, 2025 License suspensions have since been reworked through both IC change and script changes, you can view the new changes on the penal code https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewtopic.php?t=182965
