Make GPS’s a locked item in faction vehicles

Recommended Posts

Very small suggestion, but I personally think it’s a bit far fetched for a GPS to be a lootable item for player’s to take out of their glovebox from faction vehicles. Realistically, a company employee or a cop/deputy isn’t going to take their tracking system and put it in their pocket.

Thoughts and feedback is appreciated.

might aswel just make it that you dont even need a map, and have an advantage compared to anyone else, official really need that desperately. also I think officials should have waaaaaay more bodyarmor and have bullets raining from the sky. also a bazooka

Cmon man gps makes it more fun, make sure to not leave cruiser unlocked if thats a problem. Wouldnt make any sense to lock it in as for example, a cruiser get stolen and now u cant remove gps and suddenly all of pd/sd shows up. Some things are better of being the way they are.

I dont see a problem with this. People shouldnt just be snatching them from the backseat of a cruiser anyway and if you leave your cruiser unlocked and it gets snatched thats on you.

Its removable becouse its the IC tracker. I've had to remove them for Crim RP, Such as when I stole a DOC kamacho to conduct Sophia Falcones prisonbreak. There has to be a way to scriptly remove the tracking feature, and that's done with the GPS item.

There's no reason to remove a feature, that works as intended.

What is the benefit of this suggestion, just out of curiosity?

I do believe that it doesn't make much sense for anyone to pull a GPS out of a cruiser and it's instantly unable to be tracked but also see the more fun/less realistic side which is it's fun sometimes to steal a cruiser and take out the GPS.

On the flip side, it's annoying if you're utilizing the GPS Zero day item and undercovers know they exist so take out their GPS. (I'd like to point out this is merely speculation, I've seen it done before and it's in no way an accusation to start bashing LEO's with) but at the same time it's good for undercover units to be able to not be found via that too..

Not saying I fully disagree with the suggestion but I'm struggling to see who the real benefit of this change would be for?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that GPS' in all non-job vehicles should be removable but it should take like a screwdriver or something of that nature.

Someone being able to access the faction storage from the passenger seat and yoink the GPS shouldn't really happen.
Someone being able to steal a police vehicle and yoink the GPS instantly shouldn't really happen.

People shouldn't really steal police vehicles anyway, it's not really worth the risk but at the same time, fine with that being a thing as it's a game. It just shouldnt be instant.

Make it a short timer, maybe like 20-30 seconds to remove one.

But don't discriminate between faction or player vehicles in that sense.

Not that circle minigame though please, i beg.

Outside of LEOs/Gov not wanting crims to be able to make their stolen cruisers untraceable I really don't see the benefit.

Rply yeah a tracker would be much harder to get out of a police/government vehicle. it would probably take some time and some tools. but for the most part removing a GPS and stealing a neglected cruiser is harmless fun. even more so when they forget to take out the GPS and then Pikachu face when 3 cruisers roll up on them at their chop spot.

I think the system is fine as is. If you leave your cruiser unlocked and running and it gets stolen, that's on you. It takes a long time to go unnoticed to picklock a cruiser and even longer to hotwire it.

On the same topic, I wouldn't be opposed to a new system for tracking faction vehicles in order to remove the tracker, like maybe having to use a screwdriver or something to physically take it out.

If i had the power to push through one update, just one update through to completion automatically, it would be to replace that god damn circle with a collection of among us style minigames for various tasks, connecting wires, removing wheel nuts, picking locks etc.

It would revitalise the server and add a lot more agency to jobs like mechanic.

You'd be surprised. The tracker's are usually just OBD2 plugs, using an extension splitter lead off the main port, typically hidden under the dash near the steering column. Takes all of 10 seconds to unplug it if you know what you're doing.

/me removes the OBD2 plugs connected to the extension splitter lead at the main port.

Problem solved. ill keep that next to my /me smashes the bodycam, utterly obliterating it and the SD card within.
