Graffiti right now is less balanced than the heli camera, but I don't see the same level of outrage and urge to address that on these forums.

this has to be satire right? paintings on a wall amount to aimbot on a heli?

For me I understand PD having all these scripts to be the balance faction blah blah, but the fact that the PD Heli Camera has tracking that requires no skill and a simple lock on is a little silly to me. I feel as though this lock on script should require some sort of skill base to it where you still have to use your mouse to keep it locked with some assistance from the script.

I really don't understand what the fuss is about, auto lock or not we're gonna have the same exact advantages and the same amount of chance for you to get caught. End of. Remove the auto lock, it won't make a difference.

If that's true, then I'm pretty sure LEOs are gonna be fine with removing it since it "won't make a difference" - it sounds like a win win for LEOs and crims. Correct? Perhaps this thread can be archived afterward 😂

It's honestly true, this whole fuss is for nothing. 80% of the time AIR won't have a copilot and it'll just be regular AIR. We'll still have the same advantage whether there is auto lock or not, as we should. Honestly I am kinda sick of these discussions that always turn into PD v Crim. When criminals get something new added for them, no one says anything. When LEO gets something added for them, turns into a fight.

I have not seen a singular valid point in this discussion so far coming from someone who mainly played criminal for years. Removing the auto lock won't make a difference for anyone, LEO or you. Manually following a vehicle with your mouse doesn't take much skill.

The whole problem is that you can basically do no work and keep a full track on peoples vehicles. The purpose of this thread is, if you actually read my original suggestion. To remove the whole autolock, repurpose it into a manual tracking thing, which could be cool for PD. It takes more skill, is more realistic and more fair then having a script do it.

I've noticed that every time a suggestion gets made and PD go into this defensive position "AGH CRIMS COMPLAINING AGAIN", it makes the immediate assumption that all of our points are bitchy and dumb. Is it difficult to have an open mind and actually think about our concerns?

People still do ask for adjustments for crim things, if you were to look in the suggestions tab you could see multiple threads about the last thing that got added - GRAFFITI. Which I also think could use some adjustments. It has the potential of providing a lot of cool roleplay scenarios, I even thought of an idea where Civilians could get a new job in cleaning/janitorial services.

"When criminals get something new added for them, no one says anything." this is a people problem, if you cant voice a suggestion, then there isnt a purpose for this forum category. I don't believe you could name a few things that are OP for crims and need changes immediately. (talking script wise) The reason why people dont complain as much about stuff being added for Crims is because, we don't get ground breaking stuff that impacts actual gameplay.

Like said before it was already hard enough to get away from PD/SD with air before this script was added, now with the script it removes most opportunities to actually get away from air due to them being locked onto your vehicle anytime you are in a pursuit with them.

At least if something like this is gonna be added there should be something on the other side which makes it more balanced such as reopening half the closed off tunnels to make breaking line of sight easier. Or better than that make the helicam fully user controlled rather than having the copilot sat there letting lock on do all the work.

I have not gone into any defensive position. I feel like my comments are taken way out of context. Like I stated, I don't mind the auto lock being removed, I just don't see what removing it really gives for all the back and forth.

The only valid suggestion in this discussion is reopening the tunnels, in my opinion. Not sure why they were closed off to begin with to be honest.

Hi team,

I am reviewing this discussion and will investigate if the feature is malfunctioning to a degree that significantly impacts gameplay. This is a new feature for law enforcement, and we have already made balance adjustments. We remain open to further changes as needed.

I must express my disappointment, as I have had to hide posts from a few individuals displaying childish behavior. I will continue to read through the remaining posts. If you cannot engage maturely in this discussion, you should refrain from participating (or even visiting the forums, to be honest).

Regarding the blocked tunnels, there is (or was, the last time we tested) a bug that causes players to become invisible to others when entering these tunnels. They are not blocked without reason.

I'll post an update here as soon as I have more information.

Hi team,

Paulius and Thang have reviewed complaints and the helicam system, and further balancing changes have been made. It is now easier to break a helicam lock-on by going through foliage (e.g., trees, dense areas with buildings) and doesn't require you to solely utilize tunnels. The camera will also break quicker (from 1 second to 600 milliseconds). The system will continue to be evaluated over time to assess its impact, which, so far, hasn't had anything negative.

The tunnels have also been tested yet again by staff members and the same sync issue persists. Here's an example, https://streamable.com/mx9xt9, players go invisible randomly.

I also want to address this unhinged comment that really upset me: "The crim things added are just updates that don’t give advantage. Just look at development. There's a reason why a lot of ex-crims like yourself have switched to LEO."

The development focus for 2023 and much of 2024 has been heavily oriented towards the criminal side of Eclipse Roleplay, unfortunately leaving other areas somewhat neglected due to the limited capacity of our two developers. The term "advantage" is subjective; you represent yourself and your immediate circle, not all criminals. We aim to cater to all types of criminals, not just one specific group.

Here are a few enhancements we've made to e.g. improve QoL and "advantages," if you see them that way, over the past two years:

  • Continuous revisions to our server rules to clarify them and reduce players' (mostly criminals') fear of taking action due to concerns about DM, etc. We've revamped our Punishment Guidelines.
  • Overhauled the Drug System and added effects to drugs (an advantage for criminals, as cops don't use drugs). - More power.
  • Lowered weapon import prices and expanded the variety of weapons available to criminals, making heavy weapons more accessible. - More power and less fear of assets loss.
  • Reduced prison time cap.
  • Recently implemented a prison fine cap to avoid bankrupting criminals over a single incident.
  • Continous QoL improvements to the Turf System.
  • Continuous updates to the House Burglary script - more rewards and money. (probably deserves more changes to rewards)
  • Added more scripted stores for robbery. - more money.
  • Removed No Crime Zones. - less restrictions.
  • In February, we introduced a significant QoL and reward change for dealers and chopped cars. - more money.
  • Created a dynamic lab system that allows for continuous creation and rotation of new labs. - more interaction and money possibilities for organized groups.
  • Implemented a delay before a car is reported stolen. - more money as less chance of detection.
  • And the list goes on.

This is on top of the inherent advantages already allowed in-game, such as (but not limited to) the ability to instigate first, organize ambushes, coordinate boat/bike drops, and evade detective RP by wearing masks and gloves. Most, if not all, of the above can be turned into an advantage depending on how you see and use it.

Inherently, any new features for PD/SD will usually impact criminals in some way, as their RP job is to try and stop you. However, we constantly strive to balance it by providing criminals with other opportunities.

So I do not suggest downplaying the efforts of our developers and staff team to improve things while also striving for balance. Is it perfect? Probably not, but these changes and many others' relevance to your playstyle are subjective. We are not catering solely to your playstyle.

There is always talk of balance, fun, and RP. Remember, we are a roleplay server, and roleplay quality is our #1 priority. Roleplay should be fun; the actions and consequences of your roleplay should be enjoyable. You should develop a character, not play the game like any other game (e.g., Rust). This is a roleplay server where you create and develop a character in a virtual environment that simulates real life as much as possible. We strive for a balance between RP and gameplay, hence the implementation of measures like prison time and fine caps. However, achieving a 1:1 balance between different groups in an RP setting is not always possible.

As a faction leader of SD and previously PD, you should recognize the countless hours we've invested, and continue to invest, with the current leaders of PD to improve the quality of life for criminals while maintaining realism. It's easy to make a sarcastic comment about how it shouldn't be an issue to man a helicopter, but only a small percentage of PD and SD members actually can. Most of the time, both PD and SD are without a helicopter. You might consider watching some PD/SD live streamers to understand the reality of helicopter availability, how long it takes to deploy one if there's none available, and other related challenges. Alternatively, you could go on ride-alongs with an alternative character. Remember, the world doesn't revolve around you. Just because you had a situation involving a helicopter and maybe other units, it doesn't mean the next person will experience the same thing.

(This "you" is not directed at anyone specific, just anyone who feels this way).

To those who entered this discussion with childish sarcasm and attacks, do better.

Thanks for creating this suggestion!
