Mortem Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 Now that boats work we should use Cayo Perico, every gang gets a message from cartel, "Our shipment of goods has been taken by the blah blah blah cartel, we need you to retrieve it, which ever gang gets it and brings it to blah blah blah can keep it." I think a drop with some rare weapons like snipers, stingers, a bunch of .50s and overall something that's worth sacrificing 50 guys with heavies would be fun. I'm not sure how PD would be involved in all this but I'm sure they can and will figure out a way to involve themselves. 1 1 Quote

addybeta Posted June 19, 2024 Report Posted June 19, 2024 sounds very fun, but idk how hard it is to implement +1 from me Quote
Quietthecutie Posted June 19, 2024 Report Posted June 19, 2024 a tentative +1. would essentially be a giant battle royale event at Cayo with all the gangs hunting for that chicken dinner. my concerns would be the potential for toxic interactions, petty reports, the fact only large gangs can realistically compete as large gangs would bring everyone they got, so realistically you got 4-5 platoons moving around cayo fighting eachother. the distribution of specialist weaponry (i absolutely do not think marksmen rifles should be a reward) and the violence spilling onto the main island. 1 Quote
IAmTurtle Posted June 21, 2024 Report Posted June 21, 2024 -1. I don't think the server has changed enough in a positive manner for this to be done by the event team. While I love the idea I think it would just lead to massive shootouts again which really does not bring any sort of new RP. Quote
Mortem Posted June 28, 2024 Author Report Posted June 28, 2024 I believe there is a misunderstanding, there is certainly no more then 2 gangs in ECRP right now who can produce 15+ members at one time, secondly, for smaller gangs, it is very simple, it will lead to RP that will either force them to team up, be smart (such as waiting for the aftermath of the fight or attempting to steal the loot in another way), or other methods that should be available through RP. Secondly, 'massive shootouts that do not bring any sort of new RP', and the fact that the server has not 'changed enough in a positive manner'. The reason the server hasn't changed in a positive manner is because there is absolutely nothing for crims to do, the number of crims on the server has RAPIDLY, MASSIVELY decreased, while the number of LEOs has increased in inverse proportion. If you want to make a positive change to the server, you have to try new shit, what's worse, trying new shit and failing or doing absolutely nothing and continuing to fail anyways? @IAmTurtle Would you rather watch the crim count dwindle to zero without trying anything? WHAT IS FACTION MANAGEMENT DOING? I don't understand, we were promised changes that never happened. I genuinely do not understand what is so difficult about introducing RP opportunities to Crims? Is it that hard that it takes 4 years to come up with an idea, or is it simply the fact that no attempts are being made. SCRIPT SIDE: There is already a script for drops, that's all that is needed, the rest can all be done ICly. Tweaks: There shouldn't be heavy weapons in there, maybe one rare weapon like a sniper and the rest should be money or drugs. 'This does not bring any new RP' - Gang A has 5 people, Gang B has 5 people, Gang C has 5 people and Gang D has 20 people, it is only natural taht Gang A, B and C would attempt to team up to bring down Gang D in exchange for a reward, at the moment it is literally impossible for other gangs to compete against bigger gangs due to back up breach, this is the duality of back up breach, as it was intended to stop big gangs rallying together (against PD of course) but in reality it just stops smaller gangs from teaming up against bigger gangs, solidifying the monopoly that they have. Since drops in cayo perico would be an event, it would introduce a possibility for smaller gangs to work together while avoiding back up breach. Finally, I'd like to say that over the 5 long years that I've played the server I've rarely EVER seen Crim Suggestions even get taken seriously by admins. 1 Quote

I'll answer for him... Remember the Plane crash? Remember the Money Transport Event? It's been done twice, both situations ended up as effectively Purge Night moments for the server, There is a reason they haven't done them again, and it's because the mentality regarding this hasn't gotten better, it's gotten worse. More and more Crims are shooting first and asking questions later. Now the GTA events FM were doing? Goated, Great, That was a successful concept, because there were IC stakes such as getting your shit rocked by The Cartel if you drew attention to them. You had a reason to follow the rules set forth by them. What's the incentive to follow Cartel rules here? None. You're in the middle of the ocean on a deserted island 30 deep amongst at most 10 factions. Lag would be hell, DM would be rampant, and there's literally 0 reason for ANYONE to follow IC rules laid out, So naturally some more trigger happy players will inevitably catch Punishments. If you can figure out a way to account for Lag and C0ing, and then the fact that people play this server like a game of Search and Destroy on Afghan, Then perhaps there's be more support. -1 Quote

Or just make it Ammo, Kevlar, and Attachments. 2 Quote

I would actually argue that during this stage of the server there has actually never been a time before where criminals have had to exercise so great of a caution before shooting, which I believe personally holds a duality of +s and -s as a criminal due to new rules. "If weapons, Things that can already be ordered, but in a decently large amount, such as Pistols, No special weapons or heavies unless it's offered by the Cartel specifically in return for recovering the goods. Or just make it Ammo, Kevlar, and Attachments." - I would agree here, I don't see the point in handing out weapons such as snipers in a small quantity. Perhaps something with practical usage apart from just shooting such as discounted import prices for all things including guns, ammunition, lysergic, tear gas, and potentially other items such as plants and vehicles. Either way I think we can all agree a reward for something like this would need to be unique. "If you can figure out a way to account for Lag and C0ing, and then the fact that people play this server like a game of Search and Destroy on Afghan, Then perhaps there's be more support." - Fighting has always been one of the pillars of this server, people pretend for some reason that it has not been, but it is. Of course, it is secondary to roleplay however fighting is fun and can only be done correctly when the sufficient RP incentives provide the opportunity for it. Not to mention, it is not only criminals who enjoy to fight but very evidently legal factions too, who are much more S&D focused than any criminals I have ever seen. I believe Rainbow Six Siege would be a good analogy. I am arguing that this is not necessarily a bad thing for crims or cops, provided the RP incentive is there, we're all here to have fun. "What's the incentive to follow Cartel rules here? None." - Unfortunately, I would argue that Cartel's role in the server has become essentially non-existent, this is a roleplay server, and I have never roleplayed with any member of Cartel on my 4 or so years on this server. It seems as if they are an OOC organisation in it's entirety and serve no IC purpose apart from meeting up with official factions and providing vague instructions on certain things. Perhaps this is intentionally done to minimize their intervention in roleplay scenarios, but again I would say this is a roleplay server, and I don't see the reason to ruin IC immersion for something which could very easily be done whilst remaining OOC. If they were actually around with a strong presence in the server, backed by the biggest gangs in the city as they are supposed to be, then perhaps other factions would follow Cartel rules and actually fear them, instead of having 4 people dressed in black saying a couple of words every 2-3 months. Again, this is strictly speaking from my experience with Cartel and I understand other players may have less/more encounters with them, but regardless an utterly minimal level of presence and IC interactions does not make roleplaying fun, and clearly shows why there is 0 incentive to follow Cartel rules. For most criminals, they provide absolutely nothing on an IC level. An event like this would allow Cartel to revive their presence in the city and let criminals have a chance to actually roleplay with them imo, however every week is a bit too often, perhaps 2-3 weeks. Overall +1, I like this suggestion. Edited June 28, 2024 by Melodiz Bashkimi 1 2 Quote

Dont think you can judge future events and determine already that they will be a failure due to past events. Them events were a good while ago and the player base has become a lot smaller since then, as well as the general members of the community. I dont think its fair to just rule it out because 2 events have gone wrong. 1 Quote
Quietthecutie Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) Ill be honest, after considering, i want to -1 this. I am in agreement that crim RP is stale and new things need to be added. I have championed this on many an occaision. But i do not think that a (by all parties involved agreeance) Hunger games style battle royale is the correct type of RP to add. It dosent matter what way you wanna dress it up, thats what this would turn into. And i dont think it would be realistic to participate in, feasible to moderate or even fun for most crims. Yes, i want to see new things added too but this isnt it for me. Edited June 29, 2024 by Quietthecutie 2 1 Quote
