Welcome back, bro. The best advice for someone who's been gone for ages, in my opinion, is just to check the rules. A lot has changed rule-wise since you played last, so that'd be a good place to start. There's also a U menu now that contains a lot of things, such as allowing you to bind animations (some people compare this to "favoriting" them), the trucking job recently got a rework, and a bunch of cool stuff.
