Go ahead and create one. Start a thread, create some rules, start recruiting. Most factions on the server are created this way. And if they are created by the staff, they are then player managed. If this is important to you, go for it.

Wow powerful argument. It is really hard to refute your sound logic and reasoning.

Maybe instead of this, we have some sort of "kudos" system? Just a simple +1 type thing, maybe character limited to 1 an hour to give out, and can only rate a player once (to avoid just giving to you friend over and over). Something where we reward great RP, without a rating, especially one tied to IC apps and stuff.
-
Agree with Alex a bit. There's also people who just don't like each other (IC or OOC) that might rate based on that. (pretty sure Id get all 1s from Alex) Or rate cuz they were robbed, even when the RP was actually good. (be completely honest after a robbery, when I would rate someone, I am not always in the right state of mind to give an accurate, unbiased rating.) I generally like the idea of holding people accountable, and encouraging great RP, but an actual rating tied to random players opinions of you isn't the way to handle it IMO.

Ignored completely now. You are once again completely against every word I say, put words in my mouth, using hyperbole, and just flat out being rude and condescending. I was taught a long time ago, when there are people in your life who only bring you down, you cut them out. No point replying to my posts anymore. I will not read them. Until you can show some manners.
-
100% typical response from you. I will not reply.

Cuz its a game, not real life. Some things can not be exactly like real life. As hard as you try, you can never recreate real life perfectly in GTA. Not to mention this is such a tired reasoning from people completely close minded and unwilling to accept change no matter what. You really feel like when you walk through the streets Eclipse is like real life????? really? Cuz in real life, people crowd around banks with masks and guns on their hips. Cuz in real life, most people are in gangs. Cuz in real life there's no property tax or car tax. Cuz in real life, people rob each other for fish. Stop using the "IRL" as justification for anything.

Then....open more? Or have NPC ones that open when the player controlled ones close? Or require more time than once a week for 15 minutes to engage with your business?? There are 20 different ways around your point. It does not devalue what I have proposed one bit. If anything, it completely validates my point, if the gas stations are constantly closed because the owners never log in, why are they collecting big fat paychecks each week? Why is no one else bothered by this? It takes 20 hours to make what some of these stations make in 1 week. Without having to be logged in at all. (This is not to say all owners are never around, just saying those who are never around, should not be passively gaining while making it impossible for new players to ever gain ground.)
-
Then why is it OK that everyone else, except those who have a massive lead in cash, must always be on to earn cash? By your reasoning, we should all be making our paychecks passively, while logged off, not only the mega-rich. You are right, what I am proposing would mean those who can no longer commit the hours in the current community, should eventually be surpassed by the new and upcoming generation of Eclipse RPrs, I understand exactly what I am asking. PS - I used size 22 bold font, which is bigger than yours, so clearly I win this debate.
-
I promise you what I describe is 100% possible. I am no genius here, or revolutionary thinker. I think instead, eclipse is behind the times.
-
As was mentioned, there shouldn't be a need to put your hands up 2 seconds faster. Criminals, and really all of us, need to learn how to let scenes develop. A lot of new players don't even know how to do hands up and laydown and down anims. But literally just yesterday got robbed and dude just screamed over voip when I forgot the knees command. Just relentlessly screaming "bitch what the fuck bitch ill fucking kill you bitch bitch". Even after I asked him OOC to relax and tell me the command. (He didn't know it either). So not against the idea, but would rather just see admins and staff work to improve the RP on the server. (i.e. make senseless robberies higher risk, and penalize poor RP)
-
I was actually thinking of this exact idea. Do you know me in game? I found the business registration and licensing website. So gonna start working on it. As well as a house to run the business out of. (just a place to meet really) Thanks for the detailed thread, and wish me luck!

Gangs helping civilians. Jasmine worked hard to be nice to everyone, and make as many friends as possible When a customer was stranded by a drug lab, Jasmine let her friends no he was a civilian, and nothing to worry about. The Wanted obliged by confirming they don't attack random civilians, and even went to check on the guy.

I understand your point, and completely, 100% agree. I think where we disagree is on what "knowledge" a person (character) would inherently have upon log in. In my opinion, things that an adult would already have knowledge about IRL, should be given to the player ahead of time, particularly those things that hinder/annoy/confuse/take-up-admin-time/irritate/cause-people-to-leave/etc. during the first few weeks of the players life in the city. Not sure how long it has been since you were new to eclipse or GTA roleplay, but it is Fn brutal! My experience was absolutely aweful...ASIDE from not knowing what I was doing, and trying to learn how to RP.... A little bit of help on basic things would have been truly amazing. Things like: Do I even need a house? (should be obvious, but as you know most new players actually don't) How do I heal/eat/drink, do I need to drink? Where's my money go when I get paid? Do I need cash for haircuts/food/cab rides etc.? Where can I find work (side jobs) and how do I get to them? Where do I go to sleep if I have no house? Where can I park my car if I am homeless? When do I really need a car? Is there public transportation? How do I get a drivers license? Do I need a drivers license? There's welfare? How does that work? Does it stop if I work a side job etc? How am I taxed (granted this is something a lot of 18-25 year old's don't know, and some never figure out) I think all of these things is knowledge which should be, and would be known by an adult, especially one living in an inner city. I am more than happy to be part of the solution, and not the problem, so I asked to make a new citizens guide. Waiting to see if admins will let me, and what information they feel should/could be added, and what they feel should be learned ICly. There really is a lot to put up with as a new citizen, and this basic info could go a long way in smoothing the transition. And maybe even encourage CivRP, and good RP in general. I know when I first joined, I acted inappropriately out of pure frustration at the new player experience. Most notably, freaking out in the PD because I had a warrant for my arrest for speeding tickets I was too poor to pay in the 3 days time limit.

Thank you! Could not have said it better if I tried. /me gets a little teary eyed.

Yes please. Would love a place to hang out by the beach. Jasmine is really sick of tequilala. The bank is worse. Just a few cool spots that are safe zones for Civ RP would make my day!

I have noticed that almost every post you make is contrary to the idea, and often you accuse the OP of wanting to play GTOA. I play a civilian full time, have never robbed or shot anyone, nor do I carry a weapon. You are also extremely dismissive, derisive, and condescending to the people you are replying to. You also use hyperbole consistently (like "everyone wants to play GTAO") then call others out for the same. (I did not say 98% of people don't know how to buy cars, I mentioned businesses, specifically business taxes, which even Chuck could not explain to me) Based on the above, this will be the last time I reply to your comments. You cant possibly disagree with every single word I say. Which leads me to believe you are just argumentative by nature, and not willing to see other peoples perspective.

I think this comes from the fact that this server was built on grinding. So going forward, all new players must grind in the same manner. Which in a way I can understand. But at the same time, the inflation that has occurred because of the latest boom has swing things wildly out of control, and the server is different now. The prices for housing, businesses, and now basic food and water has skyrocketed (ask anyone whos been here a while what they bought there house or supers for). But the system for grinding and making money hasn't adjusted. So what this leaves is a huge gap between new or newish players and the top of the chain. Add to that, the top of the chain also guide or make the decisions for the community. It would be a huge leap of faith, and a huge sacrifice of the old players to sacrifice their money and power to allow the server to grow and flourish. And provide a welcoming, RP centric experience and move away from this archaic grind. I am incredibly hopeful and excited to see what direction we move. But also discouraged by the dialogue currently happening coming from the top. It feels very dismissive, and out of touch with the bottom rungs of the player base. ::crosses fingers::

your numbers are off. Way off. You do not make 10k an hour as an ATM driver, its 6500, 7k if you happen to get lucky with a bunch of far north runs. Also have to deduct time for the robberies that will happen (for me around 1 every 2 hours, which sets you back for the cab ride, the time you lose, and if you are dumb enough to carry any cash or valuable) Also deduct the 30% tax. so it is closer to 4000 per hour. And dude, its a game, 4 hours a day of on-duty is miserable! I want to see you run the ATM truck for 4 straight hours, What are you talking about here???d But lets say you hate your life and desperately want that house, you are still talking 2 months of work for a house in a game. Oh and by the way, if it was real life we would need to be paying rent that whole time. so subtract 15k (that's cheap) per week or we have to be homeless. So that's another 120k we need to make up. I know in your head there is no problem and I am just whining and crying, and don't deserve to be heard, but there is a problem, it is real, and it is a legitimate complaint from your community, not just me. I beg you to start listening. Also, this is RP not real life. Also, no staff should ever, ever, ever use "this is real life" as the answer to any thread, as that argument can easily thrown out by watching a handful of my clips. (don't worry more to come). I even filter out the most egregious FailRP so as not to reward their behavior. So for real, please stop using "well in real life...." as a justification. In real life, there are low-income rentals that cost less than 300 a month (some are even free).

And if mining is 100k every few hours, then there is 0% chance I would get away with that as a civilian. Is the entire area a giant NCZ by chance? Or is ore not steal-able? If I cant get a load of wheat 1/4 mile down the road, no way im getting 100k in minerals out.
-
Work with me here, not against me! LOL. You get what I mean.
-
Well I don't know about you, but I also don't pay 300k for a shit ass tiny apartment. Or 20k a month for rent. Fix the prices of houses to be realistic, then we can make realistic tap water.
