  1. I'm not sure people understand the gravity of the problem. Maybe they do and I just don't understand the connection with in-game assets, I don't know. An economy wipe has to happen, alongside a revamped economy. It is nearly impossible to get around this. It doesn't have to happen now, but it will have to happen to secure the future of this server. ECRP has yet to be live for 1 year, it's still in its infancy, yet people have already "completed" all content in terms of financial assets. In another 6 months when the next wave of players reaches the same financial level, it will just amplify the problems we see today. What happens when they release aircraft? They want it expensive so not everyone can have one but even making it $10 million, there's a good number of people that can come together to buy a few of those, and to new players that's so far down the road it's nearly pointless. Government pay checks were hugely inflated when I first got here, and the lack of rules restricting transferring of assets to criminal characters outside PD means the vast majority of wealth has been obtained in unrealistic terms. Adding anything to balance the economy without a wipe will be hugely unfair for new players. Potential solutions to increase spending and money sinks on the server, such as insurance based on vehicle or house price, medical insurance, criminal fees etc, will not work if 40% of the server starts these new systems with huge financial support from a backlog of government paychecks. If you want ECRP to thrive, the economy needs to change. Of course there are different ways to do this but without a wipe, I can't see it being possible. I don't understand the argument of "I've put all the hours in I don't want to lose everything I worked so hard for". You don't want to lose the hours of fun you've had so you can have more hours of fun? A reimbursement as Triple suggested isn't a bad idea but it still has a similar list of potential problems. Rich people that didn't really do anything to become super rich, will still be super rich. Police officers, mechanics, news reporters, these people should not be running around with $5 million in assets, that's insane. That level of financials should be reserved for highly successful criminal organizations, not every random dude you see on the street. For an RP server in this kind of game to last years over months, it needs a highly realistic economy. Without it, fear, risk, none of it comes into play and you end up with 80% of people pissing around in supercars baiting the police because they are bored. They no longer have to worry about money because they just switch characters. If criminals had to put in constant effort to create income, we would see a lot more criminal RP. I say this as a police officer with multiple houses, multiple cars and a $3.5 million weapon shop, I'd be gutted to lose American Arms, the forum post alone took me hours but if it's what's best for the server, that's what I'd have to lose. TL:DR Wipe the economy, rebalance the economy, sort out government pay checks. Start afresh
  2. +1 IF there was a rebalance of the economy. A wipe is a great idea but without changes to the economic systems, the same issues will occur in 6-12 months time. I don't think there is enough time between now and Rage's release to have a wipe & balance the economy, and I can't see the developers doing it after Rage due to the influx of new players. Most people that are against the wipe are too concerned over their own invested time, which is understandable, and not the overall economic health of the server. This will become a huge problem at one point or another, it's just whether it's addressed now or later :D
  3. It's no secret that there is minimal activities for criminal players at the moment. A new player joining the server has very little choice other than to run legal jobs until they have enough money to buy a couple cars and some weapons, after that the choices are even less. There are some very easy jobs that could be added using script that is already implemented, just with a couple of minor changes. All of these jobs would pay slightly higher than legal jobs because of the risk of getting caught. I would imagine the Courier job and other jobs' code could be changed just a little to make it easy and fast to implement. Drug Dealer Basically the Courier job now. You would get checkpoints at houses around the city, could even use the exact same ones that Courier uses. You drop off a new item "Illegal Package" for some money. As it's criminal activity, the cash will go into pocket - not into the bank. The item could be hidden in a car or carried on your person. Would pay more than the Courier job as there's a chance of getting arrested or robbed if not discreet enough. Meth Chef Using the old mining code. Use an interior in a barn somewhere, the Meth Lab, the person sits inside using a command until they are full of Illegal Packages. Then they must take the packages somewhere to drop off, exactly like the mining job. As before, money goes into pocket on delivery. Smuggler Identical to the trucking job except using different vehicles. You would take the job and get assigned a random vehicle from a list of realistic vehicles. You are then tasked with delivering the Illegal Package to one of the warehouses. Choices could include Gun Smuggling, Human Trafficking etc. Again, just using a variation of Illegal Package. This is just a few ideas that, from a lamens perspective, should be fairly easy to implement and be a quick way to give new players coming with Rage criminal activities to help build their characters.
  4. See it from a developers perspective. They've got a lot to work on with criminal improvements, Rage transition, economy etc etc. What I'm saying is, why would they put in the effort to script the entire thing when you could try it for a week and quit playing? If you're that passionate about the idea, flesh it out fully and then approach the developers for script support. Saying you'll do it if it's approve isn't likely going to get it the correct attention.
  5. It would take a lot of scripting work to get it functional. Don't take this personally but it may be a good idea to get the documentation and work done as a show of good will, that you're willing to put the time and effort in to run the faction.
  6. You can do that now. You don't need a government paycheck to do any of the stuff you've mentioned.
  7. Doesn't need to be a government faction. Everything you've described is possible right now. Nobody is using it so go ahead and try your thing. This server needs less government funded jobs, not more. Makes no sense that the government would openly fund a strip club. -1
  8. +1 All for more weapons and diversity. PD will be dropping the AR's soon so makes even more sense to have more lesser guns available for the criminal playerbase.
  9. Welcome :D Eclipse RP is still in its infancy so we're not without problems but it's constantly improving. The Fail RP is in the minority so hopefully you'll have some fun :D Be sure to join us on Discord if you have any questions. Plenty of helpful folk on there.
  10. My thoughts exactly. Gonna have to sit on the fence for this one :D
  11. If you haven't already, be sure to check out Discord - https://discord.gg/y2gxAjg Plenty of people more than happy to help :D
  12. This is a fantastic idea. Well constructed and thought out. I understand certain players would be upset with a wipe but it's for the betterment of the server. As it is right now, it's not sustainable. Very little balancing within the economy, very little space for competition. It will only get worse until a resolution is put in place, sooner rather than later I say :D Big +1
  13. Admittedly, I'm slightly biased here, but I wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone at the Medical Department. From upper management to the newest recruits. The level of RP has increased massively in recent weeks, which has made many a situation I've been involved in much more fun, more positive and more realistic. I've tried throwing curveballs with random injuries and ailments. Every time they are knocked out of the park. Credit where credit is due, you're all doing a fantastic job and I for one greatly appreciate the extra RP :D
  14. The PD do have access to blockades that can be damaged but there is protocol in place forcing them to use different blockades. This is mostly due to the lack of respect from many players during ID check points or other PD scenarios that require heavy blockades because people just kept driving through, running people over, and other non RP stuff. We can't use cars because of the sync and even when synced correctly, people drive through them without hesitation. Until we have an alternative option, that's pretty much what we use. Sure there would be no complaints against spike strips. Did you get an aheal on your car during a chase there? ;)
  15. If you make the prison times too lenient, people will just leave and reoffend. Police RP is about more than just chases and arrests. I like the idea of being able to do the prison time while offline but it should go back to the 10 hours if that's the case.
  16. Some people love them, others not so much. I'm not a fan of pre-arranged events myself but I thought of something that would appeal to both sides as it adds potential for exciting events, but in a dynamic and more fluid way. PD Warehouse A warehouse type deposit system would be added within the Armory/Evidence Room of the Police Department. Whenever evidence is confiscated, it is then placed inside this "warehouse". So whenever someone has a weapon, drugs or cash from a robbery taken, it is all placed into the evidence room at PD by the arresting officers. Transportation The warehouse would not have infinite space. There would be a limit to how much it holds. The Police Department would be in charge of emptying the warehouse, using crates like the criminal warehouses, and placing them into a vehicle. They would then need to reach one of several pre-determined locations to drop off and destroy the evidence. This could be done 1 crate at a time in a single cruiser, or several crates in an escorted convoy. This offers a lot of potential RP scenarios with just this simple system. This adds more RP for the Police Department, and gives officers things to do outside of just getting shot. It also gives criminals players the opportunity for some creative roleplay. Figuring out when and where the PD plans to transport the goods, intercepting them etc. It also allows for evidence to be stolen to overturn convictions and such down the line.
  17. This is not Wallace angry. On a scale of 1-10, this is a 2 :D His points are valid, there are a lot of direct and indirect attacks on individuals and PD as a whole.
  18. -1 When we're driving around for 2-3 hours and not a single call comes through, the banter and chatter on TeamSpeak is the only thing that keeps some people in the game. Metagaming is minimal. Whenever it is discovered someone is metagaming, it is dealt with. As is evident by recent situations within the PD. Admins often come in and out of channels, both on and off duty. Other people used to come on TeamSpeak but that was also stopped to avoid metagaming. The way you worded your original post did come across as an attack on the PD rather than an actual discussion on the topic, which is probably why you've been met with a bit of hostility. Not all that different from that IB email you sent out :D Changes were made to force more in-game chatter. I'll be the first to admit that old habits die hard. Often I'm talking in TAC when a situation is coming to a close and I should be doing it in-game, it's a constant work in progress. However, in-game radio is completely bugged and VOIP is as well. Not sure what you expect us to do if we can't communicate whatsoever. As is already stated in this post. TeamSpeak is allowed by server rules for the PD, is monitored by admins of all levels. Yet there are a number of criminal Discords that are not, and when push comes to shove, there's a lot more MG that side of things than PD side.

    Never mind

-1 Armored Karuma is way to over-powered to be used in 99% of RP situations.
  20. Yes but that method is nearly entirely untraceable and requires someone to be there, or restrict it to a close circle of friends. If you're purchasing the stock legitimately, which is the only choice for stores at the moment, there would be a paper trail, and the gun would obviously be missing from stock. That would go through several government agencies and it would eventually be caught if not careful. Something more readily available, that can be traced and caught if you take the risk, would work better imo.
  21. It would also be nice to give gun store owners the option of selling to people without a license. Would be a black market under the counter kinda deal. Would let the more criminally centered players charge more for guns but be able to sell them to players without licenses. Would need some things in place to make it work but I think it would help drive up the gun store sales.
  22. +1 for the gun tints and stuff, that's a fantastic idea. I like the idea of adding new ranks and such but not sure about the discounts. 35% would make some stores lose money per purchase. I think a simple Employee rank with the ability to restock would be nice. Then gun shop owner can agree on payments or w/e. I love the idea of having a clerk or someone in the stores but a salary, idk. If it was very low, maybe 2k or something, it wouldn't be so bad.
  23. A Ford Mustang GT is not your average street car. The vast majority of cars you will pass on your way to work, in an average working city, would not be able to trump a police car. For the record, the cruiser is NOT ABLE to compete with the top tier super cars. Not even close, so I'm not sure why you are making that comparison. Try to keep your suggestions to constructive in future. Bashing an entire faction does nothing but create hostility and derail the original suggestion.
  24. 1. Realistically a cop car will out perform 95% of cars on the street. They are designed to do so. If supercars ever become really realistic, as in not used in every other crime and chase, I'd be all for reducing the HSIU to something more realistic and taking the speed buff off the cruiser. Cops need to at least be able to match force, ideally top it. If criminals have AR's regularly, the police need the same. I would much rather the tazer, pistol, shotgun as you've suggested but not likely at the moment. 2,3 +1 :D
