Modify Automatic Prison Release

Recommended Posts

Hello all and thank you for reading over this suggestion.

As many are aware, when you are imprisoned at Bolingbroke Penitentiary, once your jail time has expired you automatically spawn outside the gates near the front door. This can happen at any point in time and in no way takes into account any active roleplay that may be occurring. Many times if there is an active scenario happening, we may /pm the player and ask if they want to continue, at which point we OOCly get them back into the prison to continue the RP.

What I am suggesting is a change to the automatic release system from prison. Whenever there is a server restart, we are presented with the option to teleport to another area or remain stationary. I believe it would be beneficial to have something similar to this appear when your jail time is up.

Once your jail time has expired, players are presented with a popup asking if they are ready to be released from prison. From here, they have the option to click accept or deny. Should they click accept, the release would function as it normally does. Should the player deny automatic release, their clothing would return to normal and following conclusion of the roleplay, can exit the prison. Players of course would still have the option to just leave as usual but those who want to finish everything would have the chance.

All in all, this suggestion is being made primarily to counter the sudden stop of roleplay in the prison when somebody is released. As we at DOC are attempting to provide more RP in the prison, it would be nice to see these scenarios through as opposed to the sudden stop, "oh... the release team took them" and break in immersion.

Once more thank you for reading and please provide any and all feedback below!

+1 I like the idea of still allowing the auto exit when payers are not engaged in rp or guards are not present, but people should still have the option to stay in to continue rp is they desire.

Perhaps it could be added as a command you can only use when the time remaining = 0

E.g. If your sentence is complete /leaveprison would take you out with no bounce back

If your sentence has 200 seconds left /leaveprison would state "you still have 200 seconds to serve"

+1 rping the actual release of inmates through this system would be beneficial to all parties. When your time is up it, the interface can let you know how many guards there are to determine whether or not interaction is possible, and likewise notify doc when an inmate is ready to be released. Through this we could escort inmates to the evidence lockers, return their belongings, and release them from the front. It makes for a much more personal scenario which would amplify the quality of prison rp tremendously.

+1 I can just agree with the people above me. A very nice idea to give interested people the chance to keep the roleplay scenario alive  - Although I see a flaw in it: Take for example my situation from yesterday. I was in prison, missbehaved and fleed from responding personnel. About a second before they could catch me to confront me with some consequences, i was released.

Now, one could say that, in that scenario, I could just deny the auto-release and continue the play, however, this would give the personnel, in theory, the opportunity (might have butchered that word, blame it on the language barrier) to extend my sentence for up to 60 minutes (which is the maximum solitary confinement time you can get).

So, depending on the Situation, it might be a bit hard to know how to conclude the scenario, due to the fact that a lot of releases happen during situations which would require certain consequences.

We would need some rules to clarify questions like that.

Solitary confinement is never an addition to your sentence as it is internal policy and has no connection to the penal code which is what determines your jail sentence. Along with this, the solitary script is bound to the prison scripting and can only be used when a player is scriptly imprisoned. This suggestion does not keep you scriptly imprisoned, it just keeps you from teleporting out should you want to pursue more active prison RP. With any scenario the conclusion would be dependent on those involved in the active roleplay.
