Reduction rates for jail time

I have had this idea for quite a while now and with the increase of development in these past few months I think it could be implemented pretty easily. I also just want to see what people think.

The idea is that LEO's will have the ability to reduce jail time by a certain percentage depending on the situation. For example if someone was charged and had 60 minutes of jail time but they were already in police custody for over 20 minutes due to transportation delays, the police officer could reduce the time they get in jail by a percentage such as 5-10%. Having the time waiting in the back of a cruiser actually count toward a criminals sentence would really make the experience for criminals better.

In terms of the actually functionality, the MDC could have 5 different buttons with different percentages which act like a modifier. So when it is appropiate to do so, the officer/deputy will be able to apply a reduction modifier onto the criminals charges and reduce their time. Obviously there would have to be a lot of IC regulations for this eg. who can do it, when can you do it, etc, but I think if done right, this could be a really good addition to the server.

This would be a great addition for crims as there have been many situations where I've personally had to sit afk in a car while cops "wrap up" situations where i then finally get /jailed to actually start doing my jailtime, just prison before the prison, then the prison after prison is waiting at impound...

Another thing that could promote better cop and crim rp/interaction is if the person being arrested displays good rp with and towards the cop/situation they could have their sentence lowered also as another option to what Mr timsby is saying.

The glazing this would cause... There will be people who apply the reduction 100% of the time and those who it apply it 0% of the time and that will determine if you're aliased as "dickhead cop" or "good cop"

just reduce jail times. Sitting through the investigations/clean up is just part of the the game.

as a professional crim with a lot of jail time under my belt, I think the current system is pretty balanced but it could be made better by DOC collecting prisoners with the jail bus instead of Cops taking us in if they're really busy.

DOC would get to leave the building sometimes and LEOs would get back to doing what they do best.

All LEO's would have to do is Radio DOC collection, if DOC are bust the LEOs take us themselves?

could this be a better option?

Realistically this would just extend the process even further, most of the time PD cant just release you and there is a reason they keep you in the car, mainly cos they are still looking into things, so that cant be avoided. Either reducing sentence times or allowing for a decrease option seems viable

We already do this with larger situations on PD's side. If we have a large shootout or a bank robbery with 5+ people arrested for example, we contact DOC to help bring a prison transport down.

As for the general suggestion, as Thang mentioned, this is something already suggested on the QoL thread.

+1, there’s been countless times that I’ve been left in the back of an ambulance or police cruiser for upwards of a half hour to an hour (this is no exaggeration) before being taken to DOC just to start a 3 hour sentence.

- 1 if you cant do the time dont do the crime, who is going to tell him..... who is going to tell him we had people spending 48 hours prison time in jails, just for sooooo many things that had been build up, atm this is balanced, and being 30 minutes in a police cruiser could count the same as being in a prison waiting for your trail to then be officially sentenced,

they already reduced the jailtime 2 times, this is getting a bit petty to see people committing countless crimes in a reckless way, but then cry over 30 minutes extra time.
if you plan out your shit chances of getting caught are very minimal and escapes are also pretty easy if you just have strategy

+1, would be nice if there was some form of "time served" for the portion where someone is in custody while PD/SD is conducting investigations. There's plenty of situations that I've been a part of where the suspects were held for an extended period of time and then subsequently sentenced for the cap which I don't agree with.
