Bureacracy kills this server

[DEAD_HUNTER]

Bureaucracy is killing this server. Quite literally.

It isn't anything new that players numbers are falling due to discontent with the current launcher, however, I must address the issue of rulebreakers not facing justice because it wasn't recorded, even though there are logs proving the incident and the person admits in the text in front of an admin that he did it. I can say that around 5 regular players have had enough of this and are considering switching servers because of this, every one of them has about 60+ hours on the server and have been involved in various RDM's that they haven't recorded but all other evidence was there. Yet action wasn't taken and the rule breaker just walked away. To show the example that has been the last nail in the coffin I will post the following conversation which lasts about 15 min.

To sum up, the incident a friend of mine was rdm'ed for standing still with a gun in his hand. No warning where given and I contacted the admin as my friend was scrambling to start Shadowplay (too late now though).

The guy is admitting to RDM'ing my friend while an admin is standing next to us. Yet we are told to make a player report with footage we don't have. Its nonsense to demand people to record more than 80 hours of gameplay, resulting in memory loss on the pc and filling up your hard drive only to get 5 min of footage.

The Rage launcher has been promised for a while now and it is believed that it will also attract new players. However, after the first 5 reports that go unsolved without evidence people will start leaving again just like we are going to. It cant be that regular players who play this game for fun are supposed to be content creators and record hours on end of gameplay just to have an enjoyable time.

Play numbers are still dwindling and it's not only because of the launcher. So far us 5 who are looking to join new servers aren't the first. I have spoken with some former players on the server who are my friends and they left a few weeks ago for the same reasons.

I saw admins do their job but you need evidence. Evidence is the proof and if that player later appeals for that punishment then the admin needs some proof why the player got the punishment. Just like PD even if 50 players saw a guy kill you and you don’t have proof PD can do nothing. It’s unfair but there is noting that can be done

The admin is right next to me when the guy is admitting to RDM'ing. The server logs should also show him shooting a person without any rp reason. As said in the last part of my post, you cant run around recording all the time. The server is honestly not that good to deserve being recorded 24/7 just so you can punish RDM'ers. I have played thousands of hours on other RP servers. Both on GTA and outside, I think this is the first community that actually demands video recording when there are logs and common sense involved.

I agree with you Dead_Hunter. There is proof in the logs. That there is enough. Especially after admitting to RDM, that should of been a instant kick/ban. I too am getting tired of the launcher and what it does to the game. Kind of why I left eclipse in the first place. At least now its a lot better than what it used to be. Seriously though. Admitting to breaking server rules in front of an admin and the logs also prove that he did indeed RDM is literally proof enough. I don't even want to record at all. I too would search for a new home, but I have invested a lot of time into this community before I left the first time. Action needs to be taken against this player immediately. Cops need to be forced to not be AFK on duty. I've seen more than enough police sitting on the side of the road as I have blown past them and smacked their cars to only find them still sitting there, watching netflix. How can we count on them to protect and serve if they are sitting on their arses watching netflix and getting paid for it? It literally blows me away that crap like this is being ignored because "video evidence" isn't there. What blows me away even more is that they are limited to what they can see in the logs? Seriously!? How the hell are we supposed to get admin/mod assistance if they are restricted to view only some things in logs? Being an administrator or Mod, you should have full access to all the logs TO HELP PLAYERS IN NEED OF ACTUAL HELP

Couldn't agree more with you! I too have invested upwards of around 100 hours but this is just pissing me off way too much. Perhaps when the server switches to Rage will I consider joining back in, if the admin issues still aren't solved.

First I would like to express that this will be looked into.

Second off I would like to cover the basics of how yes, we do require Footage in a lot of instances as anyone can say anything to anyone and place blame and accusations against individuals that are untrue and it's happened time and time again, yes we do require footage evidence, I'll give you one example of why and if you would like I could give you more.

Just the other day a guy reported that someone RDMed him, and so I responded to the /report, upon doing so I noticed there were longtime players on the scene who do record, first thing I did was PM them to ask for evidence of the last 5-10 minutes, then got the guy who reported's side of the story, he claimed they came up and just shot him and didn't have video. The individuals on the scene that were not involved did have a recording, and they supplied it without any issue.

Upon review of the evidence, the individuals did roleplay, all in voice chat, (Voice is something that is not logged by the server, it is not recorded) in fact he provoked the individuals on the scene and they told him to leave, they pulled a gun, he acknowledged it and then ran around in circles, breaking FearRP, showing no fear for his life and showing Non-Compliance. which in the end got himself shot with valid Roleplay. the player who reported the RDM, had no understanding of the rules and had possibly never read them, as he committed VDM and Mass VDM his first two days on the server.

Now, if this was you in the situation, I showed up and the reporting party said you RDMed, and I look at the logs, see there are no chat logs showing roleplay in the incident, would you simply like me to ban you for 24 hours? with a log that never goes away, that stays on your record just because of what one guy said?

It is everyone's responsibility to record, even myself, and I used plays.tv, it doesn't take up much space, it takes up as much as you want, I have it set to 10gb, and when it reaches that, it overwrites the old videos, it also records as soon as I start playing, all things that are effortless, if a situation manages to arise, I can then pull up the video, and show the last session I played, go to where the rule was broken, clip it and upload it within 5 minutes and it uses minimum resources.

It is everyone's responsibility in the community to provide evidence of situations if they really want to better the community, because as Administrators/Moderators we're not going to go drop the banhammer on everyone just because someone said someone did something, and in a lot of situations that you're talking about, people have expected us to, just based off of what they said, as I said with this situation it will be looked into.

With the regard to other servers you've played on, I'm not sure if they are Text-Only servers, as this one is the only one I know of on GTMP that is a VOIP server, but VOIP makes a HUGE difference in logs as VOIP is not recorded, that's one reason we require people to have evidence of their accusations especially something as serious as RDM.

Now you also claim that we have a dwindling population when actually it's on the contrary, the population has been steadily rising, we've had numerous players who've complained about this but again I ask you, do you want me to take someone else's word, solely against yours with no evidence? I'm not talking about this situation in particular, but in other instances, various instances in my experience of being a Moderator/Administrator, people have expected me to do that, but I have no evidence to actually back it and show that a player broke the rules, only one person's word against another. That simply doesn't fly.

We also have full access to the Chat Logs, but GTMP only allows us to pull it back from a certain distance, again, VOIP is something that is not recorded, we have access to Administration logs as well and so forth, I believe there was a miscommunication on that part but we do have access to logs.

@forgonesoul I can assure you that PD members are not supposed to be AFK on duty, although some, may need to use the restroom or something if it's a continuous issue they have a Report an Officer section on the Government Forums gov.eclipse-rp.net .

Most of the time if things are in idle they might be taking care of some Forum work as well, but if it's a repeated issue you can feel free to report it on the Government Forums and they will take it into Internal Affairs.
