Change Polling to allow long standing players to vote

This is a simple suggestion but one that i think is needed and important to the community as a whole. Basically allow players who have around 600-800k exp to vote regardless of if they have VIP or not.

No VIP? No vote. Democracy isn’t free around here, buddy.

I know in original Dev Announcement it did specifically say 'current requirements' and this seems to be a test for the polling system going forward. I think members with years worth of XP would have valuable insight to these polls, VIP or not.

i think having one chharacter to be at least 50k, or 100k xp and being able to vote only once overall you characters,
there are people now going to the vote system voting maybe 5 times over on their oppinion, in real life you go to prison for that XD thats a rigged vote, however im very hapy abouyt the vote system, great humor, and a voice to raise

I think the whole reason the vip voting was put in place is so players couldn’t just log on after not playing for months or even years and vote. I think rather than a certain amount of xp maybe make it so only players with a certain amount of played time or something within a certain amount of time can vote. If that’s to much work I think keeping vip isn’t a big deal since if you are actually playing consistently I’d say it’s worth paying the 10 bucks if you really wanna vote.

The reason for VIP is stated above: to prevent players who haven't played in a while from logging on and voting. The purpose of the voting system is to get the thoughts and opinions of our current player base.

There is also the implication by their inclusion that donating to the server allows you to have more of a say over the direction of the community than someone that does not, lol.

That you said the reasoning is that we want to prevent players that have not played in a while from logging on and voting, is to me part of a larger problem in the community.

Finding out the reasons why someone no longer plays here and through that, maybe ways that we could entice them back to the server, would be incredibly useful. It's not just about keeping what we have, it's about still trying to grow the server.

I mean this in a respectful way Timmy, you are not going anywhere. Now what I mean by that is, regardless of whether or not the server still grabs you like it used to or it doesn't, you're going to continue to put your time and effort in. It's a noble effort, one that is reflected in actually quite a lot of our player base. Eclipse still can claim it's doing reasonably well, because of the loyalty of people like yourself.

Now I don't know if my thread sparked the poll off or it was some other reason but when I heard about this course of action, I was pissed off by it. Because, while as players we're equal, our interests are not. Check any suggestion thread, any community meeting or discussion, every one has their own agendas and interests at heart.

In a community that has been absent a singular focus for the best part of maybe 3-4 years and just moving from idea to idea, rather than having a proper strategy for community development and improvement.

It was a criminal thread, that involved some cop stuff as well. If you're not someone that is or was either a full time criminal or at least a full time cop, I don't know that you should be the intended focus of that sort of a poll. This was why I made the effort to reach out specifically to the leaders of those groups for their top 5-10 ideas. Not only are they active crims but they represent the interests of their factions.

You saw the data. Prison, Impound, Knockouts, Marijuana growing, 2019 Labs and the Pacific Bank Robbery were something that at least half of all the criminal factions that declared their votes wanted. In the case of the prison improvements, it was as high as 87.5%.

With the landscape what it is (GTA 6, where ECRP is now etc..), I think we've got maybe one or two big swings left in us and I'd really hate for us to end up wasting those opportunities by prioritizing the wrong areas because we've got feedback from people that don't have a horse in that particular race.

but what would be so wrong for a player to log back on after a long while and vote ?
it means they still have some level of interest right ?
i think it would be more of an issue if someone had 3 to 5 characters, and make an individual vote on each character, manipulating their will. i dont know if this is the case btw i only have one char so,

Just to touch on this someone who hasn't logged in in a while can login and buy VIP and vote so like that's a bit of a stretch if you ask me.

What about active players who don't have VIP.

OR

Inactive players who have VIP (For a year for example to avoid losing houses). they can login and vote.

Inactive players can also login, buy VIP and vote.

I don't mind the whole thing to a degree but no need to sugarcoat it, as @Bala said "There is also the implication by their inclusion that donating to the server allows you to have more of a say over the direction of the community than someone that does not, lol."

Basically, Pay = Vote.
No Pay = doesn't matter, you don't pay the bills.

Doesn't seem like it has anything to do with activity

I believe the reason for including the need for VIP in the pre-requisite to vote is to ensure quality of votes over quantity. Not only does it ensure that only active players are allowed to vote, but more so invested players. If a player is willing to spend their own money on the server for VIP, then it shows they care about the server and want to see it succeed, and their vote is going to mean a lot more than someone who stopped playing several years ago and might not have any clue as to what is currently happening in the server and some of the updates its gotten since they last played.

In addition, there are other ways to meet the requirements without spending any money. You get free credits by completing in game achievements or just simply logging in each day for the daily login reward, as well as playing for at least an hour each day. If that was not enough, you can also show your dedication to the server by applying to join the support team and server staff members (support+) are able to vote without having to have VIP active.
