TRIGGER WARNING: Remove Rape RP/Sexual Assault RP from the community

I have been a member of this community for a few years now and something I cannot wrap my brain around is why ANY kind of Rape or Sexual Assault RP is allowed on this server. I find this deeply troubling as I've heard about and witnessed members within a faction be a victim of this in the last month. I am horrified. Let me be very clear: sexual assault/rape serves absolutely NO purpose and is extremely harmful, especially in a community where the odds of real-life survivors are present. While consensual ERP, between adults, a mutual decision, sexual violence is a completely different situation. What I do not understand is why the use of sexual assault to further your roleplay does nothing but harm the victim in ways that can reach beyond the game. I do not give a single fuck if you are asking for consent prior to. You have NO idea what that person has gone through IRL and a group of grown men asking a woman to consent so they can rape/sexually assault and humiliate her in a video game is absolutely horrendous. 

It's appalling to me that we are asking victims of this ICly to report it and pause the roleplay when ONE IN THREE WOMEN have experienced some kind of sexual violence and literally 6% of them report. The stigma for reporting sexual assault or violence for a victim is horrendous. WHY are we putting this on our player base? WHAT purpose does this roleplay provide other than to traumatize victims and trivialize the seriousness of something so disgusting. If homophobia is not allowed, and racism is not allowed, I wholeheartedly argue that this server should remove ALL Rape/Sexual Assault roleplay (similar to other servers like GTA World). 

Before any incels hop on here telling me this is hindering their "creative freedom" of roleplay, it isn't about you. It's about creating a safe and inclusive environment for ALL players. No one should have to encounter this as part of their roleplay experience. Period.

I completely agree with this suggestion. There is absolutely no place for rape or sexual assault roleplay in any gaming community, especially one like ours where people from diverse backgrounds and experiences come together to have fun, connect, and tell stories. These topics are deeply sensitive and can cause significant harm to survivors, whether intentional or not.

Allowing this kind of roleplay does not enhance the experience—it diminishes it by creating an environment that can feel unsafe and triggering for many players. Creative freedom in roleplay should never come at the expense of someone's mental health or comfort. The potential to retraumatize someone far outweighs any so-called "narrative benefits" that might be argued.

As you mentioned, we already have rules against racism, homophobia, and other forms of harmful behavior, and it only makes sense to extend that to prohibit any form of sexual assault or rape roleplay. Removing it entirely is a step toward making our community a safer, more inclusive space for everyone.

This is a basic matter of respect and empathy. The numbers you provided speak for themselves, and we owe it to every player—particularly survivors—to prioritize their well-being over anyone's misguided notion of "creative freedom." This change is long overdue, and I hope the administration team takes it seriously.

Server management should have stepped in long ago and forbidden this sort of roleplay a long time ago. Sexual assault roleplay should have no place in a functioning community, such roleplay does not need to exist, and I cannot fathom who this could cater to by allowing it.

There have been players who have roleplayed this, as a victim, and I hope not as an accused, but, either way, in law enforcement, we have had to debate with LFM at one point in time about how allowing this sort of roleplay for those who "tolerate" it not inadvertently but directly forces outside parties to become involved and exposed to it also. Think of police detectives, medical roleplayers, and court-related roleplayers, all exposed to this even though they would not have consented but are instead forced to lay eyes upon this and be involved because they chose to partake in a certain aspect of roleplay, not one that is remotely close or relevant to sexual assault roleplay.

We have had to put out a rule on crime reports indicating that sexual assault reports will not be forced on detectives who do not consent to such roleplay, whether by involvement or exposure and that they may not be handled at all if there is no consent, because, again, this should not be forced on anyone, it should have no place on this server to begin with.

They've hit the nail on the head with this issue. A server that has a large portion of the player base that focuses on adult-themed roleplay has outright banned sexual assault roleplay because it should have no place in a community that welcomes everyone. Despite their adult themes, serious levels, and realism, they don't allow this. Why? Because it has no place in a gaming community.

I don't want to be controversial, but I think it is very concerning if anyone in their right mind would argue for this sort of roleplay or defend its place in this server.

Rape roleplay shouldn't be allowed, no form of sexual assault roleplay should be allowed, and threats or insinuations of such assaults should not be allowed, there is no reason for it to be allowed.

I believe this would make a healthier environment for the server. There is absolutely no background or “RP reason” to partake in rape RP. Consensual ERP is obviously a different story. But personally knowing people who are victims of SA and having both a mother and sister, I just don’t see any reason or benefit to allowing that type of worry into the space they spend their free time (IE for this conversation, ECRP).

 

We play on this server for fun, and we play on this server with a hugely diverse crowd with so many backgrounds and experiences. If we consider race and sexuality in our rules, we should also consider traumatizing experiences such as SA/rape.

I agree entirely. Rape and SA aren't "positive contributions of a roleplay environment" in any way shape or form whatsoever. If someone genuinely feels that performing massively perverted sexual assault rp is positive in any light then they are just sadly mistaken.

 

I guarantee everyone here in this community knows someone who's experienced this kind of action in real life as a victim or a witness or as a loved one to a victim. Whether they know about that persons story or not is another matter but everyone here knows someone who's been through something like SA or Rape or SH.

 

Like everyone said this is still a game, roleplay or not, we're here to have fun and escape reality at times. We're not here to be included into the nastiest demons in someone's twisted sense of "humor" or thoughts.

 

This kind of "roleplay" needs to just be unallowed entirely.

Rape and SA RP provide nothing to the server and therefore should not be allowed at any point, point blank period. If players think that they need to do rape/SA RP to have a good time on the server or to believe that they are providing good RP to other players, then I'm not sure what else to say.

I do not think anyone could give any genuine reason as to why RP in this context would ever be something positive in any way. Everyone at the end of the day comes here to play and have fun with their friends, no matter what type of RP they choose they should not have to worry about someone even asking about consent for this type of RP. It does not benefit anyone and should not have a place in this community. There is a massive difference between what @britbritxo is talking about compared to consentful ERP and the two should be considered as seperate, SA/Rape RP being something that shouldnt be allowed in the first place. Massive +1 for this.

I truly don’t see why anyone would willingly participate in Rape RP, it’s just cringe. Rape is a very real thing people go through and should have no place in the community personally.

 

The way I see it, people who try to initiate this type of RP need serious help.

Hey so, just to back up her statistic. I am one of them.
I’ve said this for a long time, if you feel the need to rape or sexually assault someone in a video game, it says a LOT about you as a person IRL.

just to give added context, I play a grandma for a reason, it’s so I didn't have to deal with creepy advances as I knew it was a thing going into RP, but that hasn’t stopped multiple RP rape attempts or very crude humiliation tactics on a character meant to be a grandmother… it’s not as original as you think.

but on the other end, what you don’t see is the person, slowly getting uncomfortable, shutting down and starting to have a panic attack. It makes the game really unpleasant to play and triggers a fight or flight response.

 

I will always +1 this suggestion because I am in complete agreement that it has no place here.
