Mandatory Tyre Changes

Now, I expect this suggestion to get a mixed response but I personally think it could add a nice addition to roleplay.

After tyres has been changed on a vehicle, track the amount of distance travelled until a warning light comes up stating that the tyres are wearing thin and are due for a change. This warning could come up far in advance to provide plenty of time to deal with the issue.

Then, implement the ability for mechanics and other authorised dealers to order in tyres via the trucking system and when they are delivered, notify the customer and fit these tyres for them. These tyres could also be sold as spare tyres. (Could allow for independent autoshops that are currently not scriptly supported to have some purpose)

This idea definitely needs refining but it would allow autoshops to provide a service different to a simple repair, paint job or modification support.

I've always been a "more details is better" type of role-player. But my ideas normally get shutdown because "they're not fun"

such as having engine temp. so if your engine is damaged "your radiator is damaged" making the engine overheat if you run the engine on high RPMs constantly

I think this has the makings of a good idea, but also at the same time, it would have to be infrequent enough to not overly inconvenience the player.

Yeah I agree.

My thought would be that it would be after quite a long distance travelled, and then the warning light would come on really far in advance so that there was plenty of time to do something about it rather than divert all your attention to the fact you've got to get it sorted asap.

I like the idea in principle.

I like the fact it integrates with trucking.

I like that it adds another layer to car maintainence.

I dont necessarily like the idea of customers having to order tyres then getting a call when they are in stock, sounds like a little too much in-the-weeds detail, with both the mechanic and thd customer bouncing on and offline

+1 I do like the idea, and since our cars already track the miles it’s driven, it’s not too far of a leap for the tires to become worn down every x amount of miles either. While we’re on the topic we could also do actual oil changes as well too, where your car gets slower or stalls when you need an oil change, which would be a lot of fun for mechanics too.
