Car Despawning/Repairs

Recommended Posts

Currently as it stands if you unpark a vehicle that is not in your name, it will eventually despawn. Along with you cannot get it repaired unless it is under your name. The suggestion is to allow anyone who has /givekey ID true keys the ability to not only have the car stay spawned but also allow them to get repairs. I personally don't see any downsides to this, you can repair vehicles after someone allows you to borrow them and they wont despawn as your either RPing or doing some other activity in game and not have to worry about the car.

Also, just add more transparency with the despawn timer - when someone logs off the cars despawn after 2-3 hours, which is fine!

let’s say I am offline and someone grabs my car, and they get out of it, what is the timer?? Nobody for sure knows and it’s upsetting if I log back on and my cars are scattered around the map!!

i found out about this recently, i still need to tell my friend his shlagen is parked inside the dcc parking lot 😛

uhm, yea:

+1 to extending the time before despawn or even make it that if someone with keys takes it out, it stays out untill that person logs off or he/someone else parks it.

+1 to being able to do repairs if you have keys, dont see anything wrong with this.

-1 huuuuge -1 to anyone but the actual owner being able to do mods.

The timer doesn't start when the player is logged off, it starts if the player is logged off and from the point it was last interacted with.

From what I've been able to tell, either there's some misinformation being spread, or there's a bug with this going on. I've had multiple times where I'll pull a bike out and it'll despawn like 40 minutes later and luckily a staff member has came and spawned it back for me.

And for the repairs +1 anyone with keys should be able to repair

2 hours. We answer questions regarding this in the support channels as well as in-game /report 1s with this answer roughly several times a week.

sorry i never responded - I know that you do, I asked as a report 1 and got a "im not sure and nobody online right now knows" so I came to forums when I saw someone making a similar post - I feel like the 2 hours isnt right because there are times where im out of the car for 20 minutes and it despawns. Thats why I asked

I think that cars shouldn't despawn if someone with keys is online. This *hopefully* will either stop cars for just despawning because you are in RP for an extended amount of time, as well as making the car owners more liable for who they give keys to because the car wont just vanish after you log off in hopes of protecting it.

As for repairs, as easy as it should be to code it in to allow people repair, I'm sure the system is pretty broad in terms of allowing all mods and repairs with the /mechoffer. Though it would probably be as simple as a check to see if they are a vehicle owner for mods and a key holder for a repair, I doubt it is that easy who knows how it is coded.
