As far as I can tell, player counts are at the lowest they've been in a long, long time. My personal opinion that this is from the perceived inattention from the two developers we have at the moment. I've said it before and I will say it again, the current developers either need to dedicate more of their time to the server or we need more developers. A consistent stream of even small updates makes people hopeful they're heard and can rely on an evergrowing, everchanging server to play on.

Just experienced this again. 50-60% Noise. While the first one was likely due to it reaching morning. It was about 1:00 on my phone and we triggered the alarm with nowhere near a filled noise meter.

That's it. That's the tweet.

[House robberies] - ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED!
AtlasOLimbo replied to Antonio_Colombo's topic in Game Suggestions
Having to kill the house owner could be an interesting mechanic, an added murder charge if caught, if non-suppressed having neighbors call instead. But it seems like a delicate thing to prevent a guaranteed win like what Ash said. -
Developer activity, communication & feedback.

I can understand this in some ways, and I understand that aesthetic/visual changes can exist but like I said. Who can afford the sunken cost to run all this infrastructure and try and rebuild a community with even a fraction of the numbers Eclipse has? There's also the cost benefit analysis at how much are you willing to inhibit your own product to keep your rather small trusted team in line? There's people like @Bala who have dedicated time to creating entire features that can easily be ported into their codebase, but to no effort from the development team in doing so seemingly. -

This. But for who knows what reason the developers are adamantly against bringing anyone else onboard, fearing leaks. If something leaks, who's going to have the infrastructure to run it? And if they do run it, it's obviously ripped from Eclipse. And Eclipse will retain its players. It's a false fear. But I digress. -

Yeah. This. The drug, gun update, etc. Have all been teased but delayed seemingly to work on another. I say this because I can understand getting tired of working on the same update, but it results in nothing getting out the door and large delays between updates. I think this is the best approach. -
While I can understand the desire to push large, significant updates with a team of non-fulltime two developers this is extremely difficult to do and has shown. Updates takes months and months and get delayed for longer. I'd much rather be drip fed smaller updates where things can be ironed out over time than months of polishing on a huge one. Just looking for thoughts from the community! Updated/merged thread here.

Character Descriptions - /Inspect ID & /SetAttributes Commands
AtlasOLimbo replied to skeletee's topic in Game Suggestions
+1 This is extremely simple to implement and yet has not been bothered with. -
I hope they can keep this pace again but I'm not confident.

When are we going to get the mall? Years down the line? I've treated every promise of updates from the development team with tempered expectations for a while and it seems to have worked out. I don't think we can rely on the development team to fix the hangout problem in the meantime.

Basically only reduce your kevlar when shot in the chest/torso and scale down damage accordingly. Apply normal damage and do not reduce kevlar anywhere else, especially for headshots. With this, the criminal price should also be reduced.

How many people are going to leave before something changes?
AtlasOLimbo replied to AtlasOLimbo's topic in Archive
There's some points here that I'd like to touch on but I think that's better suited for another thread. But as a player who quit and has tried to come back a couple times now, it's always frustrating to hear "It's coming, it's coming." e.g; The drug update. I'd much rather consistent, small bites of updates than these huge updates that are consistently delayed. -

The points of lack of communication and inconsistent development have been brought up numerous times to no avail. -
Title. People like @Bala can fight for change until the sun goes up and down 365 times over, but how many players are we going to lose staff or otherwise before we see, constant, reliable change? Or is the server just going to be left to rot?
-
I'm more than okay with small, bite sized updates continuously. But time and time again the development team have shown they cannot do this. They push a massive update, with a few bug fix updates to follow and then go silent for months on end. I'd much prefer consistent updates overtime that introduce features bit by bit. It allows for patches, hotfixes, adjustments to be made without throwing everyone for a spin. We need more communication. EDIT: Also, both legal and illegal factions are painful to start. Extremely painful. The economy is in absolute turmoil, property prices are sky high. It just sucks.

These kind of threads don't do anything good for anyone man, kind of hoping this gets removed.

Removing the parking tolls from the pier is a big one I haven't seen mention, also. Every hangout spot that isn't the bank has gone through the same issues I find. 1) Sane people gather in one place to have fun and meet people. 2) Insane people, such as 2 hour playtime crims breaking into cars, DMers and modders flood said area. 3) LEOs flood the area in response due to constant shootouts, stabbings, robberies and so on. 4) LEOs persist the area and tensions rise between both parties, as the crime still continues. 5) The sane people leave due to a mixture of LEOs and insane people. 6) The hangout spot dies off. I really don't know what the solution to this. I don't blame LEOs for doing their job. I remember reports on the pier taking hours to get looked at though.

Nothing has changed as far as I'm aware. Faction services has always struggled at communication, especially since key members go on LOA for extended and frequent periods and no decision can be made in their absence. When attempting to make AltRP requests, I was bounced around with answer to answer. "No, only officials can, unofficial can, oh eventually unofficials will be able to." And then nothing. @skeletee fights like hell for AltRP and still manages to struggle in the current system. It's what has stopped factions from thriving. If you want people to have staff RP as these "story characters". Then please make staff available for it, otherwise. People should not be blocked from continuing their story in a reasonable manner for months on end.

Hello! Ex SD here. No. There is multiple ways that we practically used as excuses to shoot at criminals. Please don't say "oh noo it's always in self defense." It wasn't. It's not. Lethal force can be used on anyone pointing a weapon, pulling out a weapon, carrying a weapon (depending on circumstance), running over or even driving towards individuals, and hell. SD and PD both use the "shoot out tires" method, even on traffic only offenses . I witnessed an entire squad of METRO light up a civilian car when I was in PD and get told off with a verbal warning for it. I have seen people (including myself) act like their cruiser has unlimited armor, or they'll go to pillbox, do a couple lines of roleplay and come back to it. "Just get good". I nearly won a 1v3 in SD because of my body armor only. I'm a decent shot. I don't care. Both sides should actually roleplay injuries, even when they're not down. You take a magazine to the vest? Yeah. You're probably not moving after the fight is done, instead people either run for the kill, arrest, or whatever. There has to be give and take from both sides for this conversation to go anywhere, but both sides are always firmly planted in their little echo chambers. Criminals always whine and moan about how their actions result in them getting sent to the swiss cheese factory, and LEOs are not willing to give any ground.

+/- 1. Vehicle's are in such a weird spot right now where everyone's supertuned to the max. Both criminals and LEO. And LEO's should not be deploying motorbikes in "response" to anything. Nor should they be shooting tires. And criminals should not be shooting because they have one .50 and no other charges. LEOs should not be literally going break neck speeds to capture someone who was driving recklessly, probably causing more damage and danger by doing so rather than attempting to note down the plate and driver, and arresting later in a more safe, controlled context. They're wearing a mask? Too bad. Note the vehicle. Use your investigative abilities. Not everyone has to win everything. And for criminals? Please stop shooting at cops. There's ways to get away without shooting.
