1. This is very small, but I think it would be nice to introduce a buzzer system similar to what you see at DOC or the impound lot, so that individuals can alert JB, PD, SD, MD, etc. that they are at the front desk waiting. If we're talking about improving basic player interactions, I think it would be good to add this simply for the fact that it would allow individuals to get a hold of individuals quicker and in person versus over the government website. 2. Allowing for individuals to be charged based off of RP, not necessarily charges (AKA custom charges). To explain what I mean, if an individual is providing RP on a scene for all individuals, but they are waiting for transport or are waiting for trial (because it's an on-the-spot) or something of that nature, it would be great to apply custom charges with custom times, that way they still show up correctly in the MDC, but we can adjust the times to account for the time the individual spent waiting or RPing with our legal factions. While I know this won't directly add to non-action RP, I do believe custom charging (to reduce time served or fines) would improve the overall player interactions as criminals would be rewarded for detailed RP interactions versus shootouts. 3. I also think free lance jobs should allow for both individuals in the car to earn the money. For example, trucking or the trash pickup job. This would encourage individuals to work together on free lance jobs. I also think that they should earn more money if more people are around, again to encourage interaction. 4. I think the salary cap for certain legal factions should increase. I don't really think I need to explain this... but I will if I do. 5. BAR LICENSES ON THE /LICENSE. This would actually allow attorneys to be identified easily, and represent their client as well as interact with law enforcement. PLEASE.

Shameless plug/ask: Bar license on /license (sorry I know this isn't the place) Tier 1 - F4 Access (much like everyone else has suggested) Tier 2 - Faction Load out (again like everyone else has suggested) Tier 3 - Faction vehicles/spawn area (no custom liveries or anything, just a choice of 3-4 cars for their fleet) Tier 4 - Admin help for an event? An additional property/warehouse (depending on need)? If they don't need any of the above it could be possible to give them special spawned items outside of their business or a higher capacity to place items outside their business Tier 5 - Custom clothes/vehicles (depending on need) Tier 6 - Monthly "Government Grant" to help out with salaries/business costs (essentially money from admins to continue to provide events for the server) Tier 7 - Large server event with admin help anywhere on the map/mlo change to reflect the longevity of the business and the mark it's left on the server (my idea is that it would be something like changing the outside of the business to look more how the owner envisioned instead of the typical businesses GTA, essentially what Balla did with the Zetas area behind the bank)

As someone who is actively working to fix this issue in the faction, and knows what happens behind the scenes, I can tell the OP and everyone who wrote an opinion after came at this with the best of intentions. However unfortunately it is clear that there is a misunderstanding of the internal workings of the judicial branch or individuals have not worked on the prosecution side of things. The judicial branch has had many things cause the significant amount of cases that you currently see in the backlog. Judicial Response times. I can go back in writing to May 2023 where my character was emailing the previous AG Roderick Marchisio to get a judge to respond after waiting MONTHS on a verdict. This is actively being worked on as we speak with different innovations, promotions, and activation's happening within the branch. However this does not negate the fact that this was and still sometimes can be the issue with the cases. Prosecution and defense can be perfectly on top of things on the docket, but they still must wait for the judge to provide a ruling on motions. Manpower. While everyone may want to sit here and say JB could be better and give suggestions, not many are willing to step up and join us in the RP to see how long and what work we are doing to make sure that everyone here has the option to enjoy the judicial branch and its services. It is in-depth and long-term RP. I know for a fact prosecution sometimes works for months on cases, which is why shortening the time we have to gather evidence would not be profitable as the level of RP would significantly reduce as well as the burden of proof on the prosecution, given that we'd get little to no IRL time to gather evidence. How would it feel to get to court as an observer or defendant and listen to the prosecutor have 0 response to the holes the defense pokes in the case other than "we only had 7 days to prepare evidence"? We try to make courtroom RP as fun and in-depth as possible for cases so that the arguments and verdicts feel realistic. Is that something we want to sacrifice? Would it really be rewarding to win a case simply because the other party was given little to no time to prepare? Would it really matter if despite all this we still had to wait for months for judges to respond with a verdict? Law enforcement's dedication to seeing the charge through. This is not a bad quality as it means that the individuals believe the charges to be RPly correct or want to defend them, but it does make it difficult for the prosecution to suggest a dismissal to LEO's. This means that at times the prosecution is forced to pursue charges and cases they may not necessarily agree with or have the evidence to prove. Overall I believe the fix with this problem comes from trust building between factions and more autonomy for the prosecution to determine the outcome of their cases. Prosecution does not work off of emails and can typically have a case concluded with evidence and everything within a month of it being submitted, this is through the diligent work of the LSPD, DOC, LSSD, LSEMS, etc. Meaning prosecution has the PROBABLE CAUSE needed to prove a charge at court A MONTH after someone has submitted. Realistically this is the system that the Judicial Branch is supposed to function. We have had cases take 9 days after activation, but that was when ALL parties were available and eager to move the case forward (meaning we had a judge that actively responded). Putting the timeline for the average case at 1-2 months after submission. As for individuals that are banned and are not active, that is something we already do as a branch when a case is activated. As for cases that are petty and the prosecution has solid evidence, we typically reach out ICly to the public defenders office to dismiss the case. If the defendant wants to pursue the charge regardless of the evidence, the defense council still has to. Prior to the judicial branch ECRP operated as a police state. LEO's could place charges and your only option for appealing was IA reports or letters to the Governor after it failed. The Judicial Branch was implemented as a check to this. The issue is that people sometimes use JB as an IA department. Overall, I believe that reducing the backlog starts at the ground level. LEO's being willing to talk to criminals about WHY they are getting all the charges they are getting (instead of just saying to appeal it with the Judicial Branch, if you disagree). Both parties being willing to accept that criminals may not be nice to LEO's and LEO's may not be nice in response, but that doesn't mean your charge isn't correctly placed or that they should be over charged. Defendants being willing to accept charges when they are clearly guilty. Law Enforcement being willing to listen to a prosecutor when they say the charge either doesn't have enough probable cause, evidence, or does not fit (sometimes it doesn't mean the person isn't guilty, it just means we don't have the evidence to prove it). And finally, judges being active and responding to cases.

@Quietthecutie I am not sure why I specifically was replied to... but you are entitled to your own opinion about JB. However I feel it is a way to achieve fairness ICly when things like IA reports and others with the same nature fail. As often times that saves the persons RP on that character that may have been previously ruined by an arrest. This has nothing to do with the RP opportunities. It really is entirely how YOU view the Judicial System, but it can be used for BOTH fairness and RP opps. Meaning... I was not incorrect... As for the second point you make... rules are as you have stated designed "so that everyone has to play by the same standards". Meaning it would be UNFAIR if we all were able to play with our own rules or to our own standards. No where in my statement did I say that LEO vs Crim was supposed to be fair. I think we should probably stick to the topic at hand...
-
I'm going to be respectfully honest with you here. I feel that is incorrect. The entire point to sever rules is to maintain fairness. The Judicial Branch as a faction is an IC way to again achieve fairness. You may remain on the sever based off these things that you have proclaimed "distinguishes Eclipse from other servers", but I believe that is a widely mischaracterized statement. Sever rules have been changed over time to maintain balance and fairness, look at the recent changes to ATM robbers for one. The list goes on and on, all in the effort of ensuring the server remains FAIR for all. Please don't make general statements like these when the facts would show that Staff and Admins do care about keeping things fair between player pools. Edit: Back to the topic at hand, I would agree in certain situations this makes sense, but in other areas it does not. When the city is on high alert as it is now, you would expect and increased police presence on every call. Context is key.

Please can we stop with the "I'm in jail for 6 years" Stuff
Buggs replied to Buggs's topic in Rules Suggestions
I want to... A. Bump this topic because I feel it STILL needs to be considered B. Mention that 60 days does not equal one month, so the logic makes 0 sense C. Mention that the system is clearly flawed and has failed due to it being around for as long as the server has and people still don't understand how to reference or use it At this point, it should be scrapped for continuity purposes. Not only that, but the penal code doesn't even support the system referenced in the Prison time. -
+1 Not only that but... while the average person would not just gun someone down at the pier, the average person would also not walk up to someone they don't know and immediately start shit for literally no reason. I have NEVER had someone IRL come up and say things to me that people feel that can say in game because the DM rule states you cannot DM someone just for shit-talking. It makes no sense and gives people the freedom to feel like they can walk up to whomever and say whatever because the DM rule protects them. How is that realistic, improving the RP of the server, or fostering a place for people to RP enjoyably?

I love you all no matter what character I'm on! Thanks for the fun RP Can't wait for more courtroom shenanigans

**I understand there is already a guide for new players, the intention behind this guide would be a quick reference tool that could be easily updated. It's been a long time since I've made a new account but I remember finding it hard to get all this information, nor did I even know it was available. I think it would be nice to link something like this guide or the IN DEPTH New citizens guide at the beginning and end of the application for ECRP as well as on discord** Welcome to ECRP! Within this server you will encounter both heavy RPer’s as well as casual RPer’s. Whatever your preference, you can find a home here. Helpful Commands When using these commands replace anything with [brackets] INCLUDING the [brackets] with the information. These definitions and examples are not the only ones that exist and are very broad. They do not cover all instances and should only be used as a basic guide. None of this has been ruled on by admins or should be quoted on for official procedure. /license [ID] - Your character shows their licenses to a desired target. Example: If you want to show your license to someone with the ID (number above their head) 35, you would /license 35. If you want to look at your own license, you would simply type /license /alias [ID] - Your character uses this to remember people's faces. You can only use this command scriptly if the target has their mask off. Example: If you want to remember someone's name, you can change the number above their head to change from reading 111 to John Doe (111) /ame - Used to describe a quick action your character is making that would be visible to the public, this is not something long form as it will NOT appear in the text box. Example: Your character waves or smiles. That would look like /ame smiles /me - Used to describe what your character is doing at the time. Example: /me looks over the scene of the crime. She observes the ground where the tire marks would be to see if there is anything noteworthy. /do - Used to describe the scene or what your character would have observed/what others would observe about your character Example: /do She would notice the tires have wider and deeper tread marks indicating off road tires. /ldo [ID] - Used to communicate with others about what they may view when observing an incident. For example: You are viewing CCTV footage that happened. Your character would interact with the computer. You’re trying to get in contact with ID 5; you are ID 13. The entire instance would go as follows… You: /me logs into the computer and goes to the security footage. She would input her credentials before searching for the incident that happened 10 mins prior. You: /ldo 5 what does she find in the CCTV footage at Bayview 10 mins ago? Them: /ldo 13 She would see ID 5 punch ID 10 at Bayview. They would not have a mask on. -1 I would agree that some rules are in place to create a fairness across the server. I think this stipulation is one of those rules. Whether or not it's petty to report just for it is up to admins, but how do you know if someone is a repeat offender for the same thing if you don't make a report? -
Since posting this suggestion I want to make a few points on whats been said: The suggestion wasn't to restrict development updates on the server, which is why after the first sentence of the post I put this "(this does not mean don't update... I just want them to make logical sense...)". Since making this suggestion, the timer for unpacking cash has been changed from 30 to 15. Meaning that there is some merit to the suggestion. Nerfing something for economic purposes makes sense, but it can also make RP sense as well. For instance, instead of doing a minigame to refill water/clean tables, have it just be a set time or randomize the time between 3-5 seconds so that it can be at different intervals if you want it do. That way people don't have to try to understand why they can fail at refilling a water bottle or cleaning a spill. Or have people unpack the cash (still have it stay the same item in their bags) THEN wash it. None of these examples stops or limits development. It simply seeks to make it more realistic, which is the point to having an RP server...

You (the royal you) don't NEED a gun license, but it is very hard to be a true civilian role player without one (this is coming from my own experience as a civilian RP'r for months, RPing as a reformed criminal without a gun license trying to just be a civilian, and all the legal roleplay I've done). As a civilian in ECRP you almost toe the lie between what is criminal and what isn't. Solely because of affiliation, prior knowledge to crimes occurring, and a general lack of reporting crimes when they're committed. (Obviously all these actions are a choice, but (it is my opinion) if you want to survive in ECRP you cannot call cops as a civilian. (Based on experience) Cops will just end up telling whoever you reported that someone called in a tip, and as there's typically a limited amount of people that would've seen the crime, the perpetrators will know who called and will then try to kill you character) Working at a legal job gives you some protection, and that's what I feel like a lot of people don't understand. A true civilian doesn't work for the government in some way shape or form, they work the normal freelance/hourly jobs and interact with both criminals and LEO's. This may be my definition of the word, but I don't believe someone that spends most of their time playing a character on duty in a legal faction as a true civilian RP'r. In summation... if you (the royal you, not directed at anyone specific) are trying to be a legal civilian it is very hard to exist without a gun license. Most of the time mine was used as a deterrent, a way to deescalate a situation that would've left people injured, or just punish rule breakers so the forums don't have to and I don't have to call an admin (AKA people that ignore fear RP/reasonable demands and run off at gunpoint after you caught them trying to picklock your car). Are any of those reasons legal by law? No, but it saved RP lives!

You missed the point where I just said remove the labs. Then why do these changes need to stay if they're removed? They don't. They don't make rp sense. But again, that was not the point of my post...
-
When changes are made in development they should make RP sense. (this does not mean don't update... I just want them to make logical sense...) For instance: It does not make sense for someone who's been cooking for years to all of a sudden start spilling their product, when they never did previously (I mean how does one even refer to that ICly? Just remove private labs already... people are grumpy about change regardless! I'm sorry I said that please don't make this another should we or shouldn't we have private labs threads.) How does one fail at cleaning a table? Or refilling a water bottle? Why do you need to unpack cleaned cash? Wouldn't you unpack the plastic wrap prior to cleaning the marked bills? Why remove the ability to refill water at the water cooler in properties when that made logical sense? (I know PRIVATE LABS, but seriously... it actually does make logical sense to have us be able to refill) These are the only ones I can think of as of right now... this is just an opinion. Not a targeted attack on any person, place, or thing.

+1 please. I cry when I have to spend so much just to find a shirt that allows an undershirt

A. There was no back tracking. I quoted myself directly. B. This is great to hear. I'm really excited. I've been hoping for some sort of reform. According to court records it's almost a 50/50 split, in JB we count a singular charge being found not guilty as a win for the defense. Now, of course, there's cases that don't make it to court (the average) because the person is so used to going to jail, that they don't think twice about charges or being wrongfully charged (meaning possibly the wrong degree of a charge. AKA giving someone a misdemeanor when it should only be a citation at first. Then if the problem continues you escalate it to a misdemeanor. This is what I would say happens most often (in terms of wrongfully being charged), but I still consider it wrong. No, it's not the same as charging a completely innocent person, but still... wrong). I know on my criminal character I've been wrongfully charged 3 out of the 5 times I've been arrested I think (no I'm not trying to over-exaggerate)? The only reason I know this is because COPS *gasp* were the ones that told my character that, but also my character doesn't complain cause she wants more jail time cause DOC is more fun now with the jobs and I like to laugh with cops by being a trolly criminal. Do I think about appealing the charges? Yes... but that's not really my characters style and I like to stick to what I feel my character would do over proving a point. I digress. I always very much respect your opinions, Bala, and I love what you have done for the sever. As well as the cool updates you made to the map.

We need a way to reference development that happens OOCly and to have it actually make sense, so we aren't breaking immersion whenever we talk about the trees that suddenly grew overnight though no one planted them. For instance, there could've been several development changes that the staff missed RP opportunities for the server: All the trees that were added in Paleto and Sandy could've been great RP opps for Los Santos to go green. Inviting the community to plant trees for a cause or something of that nature (pun intended) Prices rise for illegal shipments. Have the cartel give an actual RP reasoning for this. AKA meet with the different gangs and talk about how they had to switch suppliers. Don't just have someone log into a change and tell them it's mixing to mention it ICly. It makes no sense. Instead of leaving admin markers when you don't like someones build, have an HOA or the government come out and say hey, this is not up to code. The changes in drug labs (in regards to 2g apartments) could've been handled by LSPD or LSSD coming out with a statement about how they've cracked down and found labs that were being used. THAT's what forced the labs into businesses and standalone houses. Or just remove them all together and say it's cause of a statewide crack down. I don't really care, but I'd like to have a way to reference these things ICly. New clothes that come out can be because there's a new supplier that X person found and Weazel writes about it. Chop shops change, so lets have cartel talk to people about how they won't be doing all the work for us anymore and we will now have to take apart the cars. I could keep going with every development that's been made recently, but I digress. I think you get my point.
-
I've been a cop and have only recently started playing a criminal. I got the mentality that I have because I saw what happened to basic civilians who were forced into criminal RP due to the acts of lackluster investigation. (You essentially tried to make fun of my quote by literally ignoring the message behind it. It's about putting yourself in others shoes and understanding their point of view. Maybe... take a step back and realize it wasn't an attack on cops? Not everything has to turn into a cop vs crim fight. Especially when i am more of a middle of the road between the two type of person.) Both you and Bala unfortunately took my statements as all or none. Just cause I stated: "Cops arrest people on ECRP all the time for no reason" does not make it ALL cops and does not make it EVERY arrest. It is a fact that this happens, just like cops let people go for no reason all the time. Pleaseeeeee read through something before making assumptions. I wasn't trying to hate on cops. I am trying to improve the overall RP of the server. I think this is a really great idea, but would have to be something that's brought up ICly, which brings us back to the initial problem. This is really an IC thing, but LSPD has made it abundantly clear on multiple occasions that they will not be changing anything.

Gameplay Suggestion: Character Kill Applications
Buggs replied to Nubbsauce's topic in Game Suggestions
You seem to be very good at taking something out of context and blowing it up. You've done this other times within this same post. This is precisely why the rules are the way they are now. Because of this type of thinking. I say "in-depth character development" and you say "we don’t need more reasons/excuses for cops to solo challenge gunfights because they have better guns and armor". That literally has 0 to do with in-depth character development, which requires proof and would leave some what of a paper/evidence trail. So you're right we don't need more of that, but it has nothing to do with what you quoted. -
The problem is... that this isn't the first story of "I had my gun license removed for no reason." Cops arrest people on ECRP all the time for no reason. That is the problem. It should be about conducting an investigation and doing actual cop RP, instead of charging the person and moving on. BODYCAM IS NOT EVERYTHING Collect pictures of the crime scene ex: if there's a hit and run, you don't need bodycam proof that it happened to charge the person. You need to RP! Look at both of the cars, look at the injured person, look to see if there would be blood on the car, etc etc. ex: if someone accuses someone of stabbing them look at the wound, take pictures of the knife, of the scene, of the person, swab the knife, send the evidence to MD etc etc. If you want proof, check out different court cases where they've been found not guilty. Investigation RP doesn't exist and typical LEO's in ECRP think that that type of RP is saved for detectives or investigators. LSSD and LSPD are the judge and the jury when they're charging people, it would be nice if they created a solid case or took 5 mins + to look around before sending someone to jail for 1+ hour of their time. For instance, I had someone actually check my criminals crowbar and then say they were going to match the paint on my crowbar to that of the vending machines to prove that I was the one who committed the crime. WOW! THAT WAS FUN! I really actually enjoyed the fact that I could make up a story, and have it be good/terrible enough, that he is now doing a criminal investigation into my character to see if/prove she lied. IMAGINE IF EVERYONE DID THAT! People might feel like they were being reasonable charged.
