The REAL reason ECRP is in it's current state. (Opinion Piece)
WoodsKW replied to Marksy's topic in Forum Suggestions
+1 to the original post. Really well put together and addresses a lot of concerns for a lot of the remaining player base. I am glad that a lot of these suggestions are being picked up "behind the scenes" but do fear that for a lot of the players that are no longer active (myself included) that it is too little, too late. Eclipse had a lot going for it and I have tried other servers since but do not enjoy them nearly the same and that's why you had so many people stick around was for the relationships that they created with other players whether it was within their faction or not. The people really made this server feel like home for so many people and it's why so many people spent many hours IC. Unfortunately the server lost it's way and I think there are many issues that attribute to this, Staff accountability, Toxicity over "winning" in a situation leading the an abused reporting system which I'm sure is a drag on the staff team dealing with the same petty reports, rule playing, lack of transparency to address voiced concerns. I hope that whatever changes are being made can return Eclipse to it's past and the people that are still committed to it, get the rewards of sticking around and can continue to enjoy the server as it was intended. -
As others have said above, auto recovery at items for most I would imagine is a must. Crims hate waiting around for it and I'm sure LEOs could be doing something far more entertaining, so +1 to get this added. The rest I do not agree with, jail time is what it is, has had many reductions and the new system and DOC means a 1 hour jail sentence is 29 mins, max you are doing in jail now is like 90 mins if you accept all charges with Diamond. -1 to the remainder of the post but appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts

I only raise this as reading through reports over recent weeks I have seen people told that certain phrasing is not valid demands and therefore they have been issued with DM punishments and PVP mentality etc but then seen other reports denied because demands were issued to the extent of "Hands or Die" i feel like in this area there needs to be some consistency, there needs to be minimum requirements that are met in order for them to be valid demands. For instance, state your gang name, give them an action and the consequences should they not comply. I have seen a report lately of someone being told to "get out" whilst entering a lab in a vehicle, this could mean leave the lab, this could mean exit the vehicle and the person died and lost their stuff due to poor demands being issued and people thinking that gives them rights to shoot at someone. There needs to be more clarity and some guidelines that must be met in order for the demands to be compliant and therefore giving permission to shoot the individual should they not comply

Totally agree, posted about it in the General channel of DC after the interaction, it was a lot of fun to see a situation unfold like that and I hope the SD department on the other side share a similar view.

And it's this kind of mentality of being stuck in your ways and refusal to change, is what will make the server die. Near enough every comment I have seen you respond to has been negative, saying if they don't like it they can fuck off or something to that extent, as someone that has been in the server for a long time, that has had such a large impact on the server, I'd expect you to want more for it. Whether it should or not, your opinion carries weight and you saying the server is fine and people need to toughen up, is very easy to say from the side with no risk. This is a suggestions channel after all, people are voicing their ideas to create a better experience because if you speak to most of the server, they say it is dead, dying or they have left. You sitting there stamping your feet saying things shouldn't change because it's not what you want, isn't really how things should work. If you want to sit and play chief of police to an empty server where your best RP will be sitting in a car chatting to your colleagues or telling civs not to litter, then hold this attitude, but for those of us that want to make changes and improve the server, let them voice their ideas and the power at be can choose what suggestions they like and implement them if they can. (side note, dragging the way somebody speaks and how they put themselves across as you did in the comment above, is not how you have a diplomatic conversation, it comes across very childish and there's no need for it)

Think you need to step out from under whatever rock you have been under mate to be honest. Firstly, Shadows is on it's arse and half the members have left cause of how it was being run and some new recruits. Secondly, the incident with OffGrid was due to months of being the only gang in the city that isnt in labs and therefore the only ones around for cops to interact with but it meant that as soon as they saw a blue car pulled over there were 10 cruisers behind you, when i thought I would be part of the change and did my cadet training, they even had the pursuit vehicle in OffGrid colours so if you want to tell me there is not a bias there then I really dunno what to tell you. GNDs job is to investigate and deal with gangs but it wasnt all GND that were the issue and at no point did I state that was the case, Most of the people in GND I have interacted with do not RP, they just act as bad as any gang member with the power of an infinite loadout and a badge to duck behind or a court system that nobody uses so they know they are sound. This evening, I have interacted with cops on 4 occasions seperately, I have been VDM'd twice, Shot in the back with no interaction what so ever and now serving a 3 hour sentence in DOC, I could forum report 3 different officers but it doesn't change anything and the best you get is a voided situation

So you think it's for the best that a gang that was offering RP to cops, wasn't shooting them on the daily and pushing for a better experience for themselves and for the cops, are better off in a FiveM server because we refuse to recognise and change the problems of the server we play? As I said in my initial post, a lot of people like ECRP and want this to be the server that they play, some, like yourself have spent 5/6 years investing time and money into this server, making connections with other people and therefore don't want to walk away until they have no other alternatives, such as the server dies due to the release of GTA 6 and you lose all progress to make way for the new experience or more likely, because this server collapses in on itself because we all want to argue about who is right and who is wrong and no progress ever gets made
-
Don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see that this had a part to play in why OffGrid left the server, they were never in labs until a week or so before their departure and therefore all crimes committed were ones that offered the cops RP opportunities and more often than not, you tap a cop car in a pursuit and they start shooting or GND force you out of a car. I recall doing a bank and having Sam Martin 240 me into bus stop as i got into my car outside life invader, instantly stalling my car and giving me no chance to evade. That is his intention, to get the win and the arrest, but is not good interaction and certainly not good roleplay. Every server you play PD are supposed to be the example of roleplay, not people that couldn't hack it as a crim so they do it as a cop and are as toxic as most gangs, with a badge, the court and a busted IA process to hide behind.
-
I'm not on the "screw LEOs into the floor" agenda but saying doing what they are supposed to do when I got pulled over, last night, for going 20 over on the highway by SD and being told to step out of my vehicle so myself, my passenger and the car could be searched for a 2nd degree speeding offence? I would love an explanation as to why they are supposed to stop and search people for speeding, that's never happened to me IRL so why should it happen here, unless it is because the cop recognised the gang colours and was just pushing to catch us out for something else which is NRP, which is what I eluded to in my original post on this thread. Exact same situation that happened maybe a week ago by PD so both sides of law enforcement are guilty of it
-
And for anybody that would like to dispute this, I think every person that is not law enforcement could list all the bad RP they have seen from officers and it would be a lot of the same names. Problem is, many of them are high ranking officers, GND, people that the cadets and newer recruits take lead from and this bad RP becomes the norm because the newer people see it as being okay. Then you have a server full of cops, who shall remain nameless, but I assure you everybody will think the same people when thinking of negative experiences, likewise with the positive.
-
There are clearly issues with the way that people interact with law enforcement, escalating situations that need not be escalated and on the other hand, law enforcement using tactics that they shouldn't to gain an unfair advantage that as a criminal you can do nothing about. I have played pretty much all my time in the server as a Criminal and there have been multiple examples I have witnessed where police break rules (power gaming & NRP most notably) to gain an upper hand and get the arrest and the standard responses are IC "take it to court" or "submit an IA" but a court date takes months just for it to get thrown out and IA reports have very similar outcomes. OOC if you report the player, with all due respect half of the staff team are Law Enforcement mains and therefore will see things more from the cops perspective because they will have similar frustrations, creating an unconscious bias towards the report. Even if the report is accepted, it doesn't change the general attitude of PD or SD and doesn't change those things happening and therefore doesn't change the players frustration when they are pulled out of their car a day later for speeding because and officer "knows" they have guns in the car. There is also a lot of "reasons" why cops were doing things they shouldn't such as scouting drug labs but there was "reports" of gun shots or they were patrolling the area and saw people with heavy weapons (this exact situation happened to me at the island lab, not sure what area you are patrolling on the other side of a mountain with no knowledge of the lab being over there) I appreciate there are frustrations from both sides but having had a conversation less than a week ago with some senior police officers in the city and being told "nobody cares if you leave" but then the entire server is crying out for more to do, more engagement, more interaction and it doesn't come around and therefore the player base is suffering, leaving less for those that remain to do, moving onto other servers and would rather start over because issues here do not seem to get addressed. I often see in the general discord channel when new people ask how many people play and the typical response is 250+, you are lucky to get that on a Saturday night these days, people need to stop burying their head in the sand and actually looking at changes that can be made that improve the quality of the server, because right no most people are only staying for the connections with certain people they have in the server, not because they like the server itself.
