Boat suggestion? +1

I feel this is so drastically needed. The DoC faction do a fantastic job of working with what they can and creating more scenarios for RP but the truth is that being prisoned is just severely lacking, to the point that I would say it really is just an OOC punishment. Frey hit it in the head when they said DOC essentially boils down to talking to people, doing menial timer mini game tasks for stamps, or fighting new players. There needs to be fair more support for being in DOC and for the faction. Yard activities, cooking, cleaning, making use of the greenhouse, and even reutilizing spaces such as the boiler room by removing the explosives are all areas that could use script support to turn DOC from an afk simulator into an actual RP experience. Ensuring the DOC faction are more supported is also key since they play a large role in the non-script RP that can actually happen at DOC. It's entirely unacceptable that it took so long for them to get the necessary commands to support their Parol program nevermind the further support they may need to inspire more RP scenarios. +1

I just noticed this suggestion! Weazel actually used to have this very thing on our IC website, and we used to advertise it in game, but it was rarely ever used, and we found that even after telling people about it several times, they would still just ask us directly rather than go check it out. It funnily also came up in some OOC discussions we had recently about reviving it since we would need to reimplement it on our website. I am all for it again if It's something people want to utilize and would find useful, but I'm just conscious of the constant upkeep it requires and that only a small handful of people could update the website, so if it was not used then it would be wasted time.

I think I was one of them who said that there has been good role-play in NCZ's without giving exact examples, so I am happy to list a few to help hopefully show my point a bit more. I know its said that we dont seem to be seeing the big picture, but it may be helpful from yourside if you could highlight what this bigger picture looks like outside of being inconvienced about your cars, and wanting to dull some unique RP moments. I know you have already disregarded it as baffling, but I am in the boat that firmly believes a lot of the RP seen from The Underground such as the AG hostage incident is actually really great scenarios of role-play that stem from IC decisions, and have IC knock-ons that further even more role-play. It's RP that was born naturally and has now given different IC considerations for a number of factions which really could not have been achieved in the same sort of way, if NCZ's were still in place. This is not the only standalone scenario, there is far more now happening, especially in places like city hall which I think has been a long time coming as there is now a feel of proper threat, given more RP opportunities and considerations to GSB. Kidnappings, trespasses, and general graffiti are just some of the instances where the lack of NCZ's are now giving criminals, as well as legal factions, different challenges that were previously locked behind the knowledge that such actions could not happen in certain areas. I am sure it would be easy to say that we could still have those considerations ICly since characters don't know about the existence of NCZ's, but if that was really true, then your cars would never have been broken into in the first place. There is now genuine IC consequences for pulling up to the very front door of a hospital and abandoning your car unlocked and running, there is now genuine IC consequences for leaving a bunch of doors unlocked in a secure building, and there's now a smorgasbord of RP opportunities that stem from the all of these IC consequences. Even silly things that add small details to people's characters that they can now do in NCZ's are just really great for adding nuances such as paranoid criminals not having to randomly disarm themselves when entering this area, even if they are outside, or a gang having to awkwardly wait outside the boundaries like there's an invisible fence if they are about to kidnap someone. I understand that some of these scenarios, you slightly hinted they wouldn't ever happen, but when we start to get into the age-old "not realistic" debate, I have no doubt every person here could write a Weazel News Special Investigation length paragraph into the various things in our server that are and aren't realistic. It boils down to; if you find something to be NRP, then submit a report, otherwise it really is about finding IC actions to retaliate/mitigate/prevent, which in turn is just more role-play for everyone. Weazel News is a 24-hour news corporation with an entirely walled off car park that has 3 CCTV cameras in it, and we have been subject to car break-ins galore. Crying out for an NCZ for the area is an easy option, but instead finding IC preventative measures, and alternate solutions is infinitely more rewarding and allows us so much more scenarios that break up the mundane daily ad request loop. That's the kind of stuff that I play this server for; varied and unique RP that is engaging and brings individuals together and creates stories. If parking my car two streets away so I can avoid the most minor of inconveniences is the price I pay for that varied RP, then charge me twice, because it's worth it!

I am sympathetic to your reasoning but I think the removal of NCZ's has been a change that had lead to some really fantastic fluid roleplay that I would hate to see stifled. I know there has been some low points surrounding the removal of NCZs but the avenues it opened up are really fantastic and it certainly won me over. It would be disappointing to have a small group of individuals ruin all that potential for other players.

OOC consent to RP as an animal / mental illness
Herrman_Wolff replied to HobGoblin's topic in Archive
This is a disapointing and non-reasoned suggestion (that oddly feels like a very poor, thinly veiled attack), I don't see a reason that an individual having a mental illness would require OOC consent (providing it's not conflicting with other gross rp/ooc rules), and would entirely stifle a large number of individuals characters. This even includes Herrman Wolff, who I try to portray as being manic obsessive, and I think this has lead to some novel and fun situations what a great deal of individuals, I hate the thought that this would be entirely strangled, especially due to a such a rule being implemented, especially if It's done off the back of a forum post that gives no reasoning for it whatsoever. A big -1 from me.- 10 replies

Who can give me some job even tho I have hella criminal past?
Herrman_Wolff replied to matdouglas's topic in Job Listings
Brother do I have some good news for you. Weazel News hires individuals with all forms of backgrounds and unlike many departments, we do not discriminate to an individual with a criminal past. We only ask that you have been two weeks free from crime and are willing to put in effort at work. We offer the ability to chose between Journalist and Advertiser roles, and offer additional bonus's for posting bulk and submitting content on top of your hourly salary. Weazel News is now the most progressive employer in the state and cements itself by giving ex-felons a second chance at life. Find out more here -
Hell yeah! Vote Herrman Wolff! Oh wait, this thread is something else. Okay. I think some of these cuts IC and OOC. It would be nice to have a little more approachable means to how the elections are done since, like you said, it's a bit buried on the GOV site, and It's maybe not the most assessable of formats for people to vote in. I do get a lot of people in game asking how they can vote, and I am genuinely not opposed to the matter of Google forms, but it's probably better to get some feedback from the individuals actually running them as they have the domain knowledge. I do like the thought of having a hyperlink to the required section when elections are running to give it more prominence to the player base. It is unfortunate Life Invader is not around anymore as it could have ended up being utilized for elections, bringing more people, back onto it! There really is a clear lack of understanding for a large number of people that the LRC can have pretty tidal wave sized changes to the server, but I debate with myself if that's something that actually should be bolstered or championed via much more OOC discussion. I think it would be awesome if elections got the server event type treatment where they are highlighted a lot more OOC but when I think about it, it's an IC conception that really only effects IC implements like the penal code, so I always come back to myself and say "It sounds IC to me". The ideas suggested on this thread sound awesome, though, and at the very least are a great start to helping the LRC and its elections along more.

I personally was dubious about the NCZ change when it first came in and thought it could open some areas up to becoming the wild west, but I am pretty pleased to say that, in my experience, I was wrong. There have been many more opportunities for RP and for criminals to RP acts in these zones now that I actually think it's a positive change for the server. I understand there was the pillbox shoot-out, but this largely was an isolated event in the first few days, just like Ash said, and it was dealt with already, so I am not entirely sure its the best marker for why we need NCZ's there. The picklock ing of cars is frustrating and its a pain I feel since Weazel, which has a gated back parking, at a busy News Network Studio, with multiple cameras focusing on the parking, which is right beside a busy construction site, in the middle of a populated city, has long been a target for multiple car picklockings a day. I certainly do not think it's justification for putting up a NCZ around a police station again, since one facet is suddenly strangling a whole host of new RP scenarios that have opened up. Reporting an individual for non-rp picklocking and the subsequent staff investigation would really only take a select few players out of RP for a short period of time, versus a NCZ which completely removed RP opportunities for players, until their removal in those zones. I am sure there are also IC actions that could be taken to mitigate the picklock issue at PD such as parking in a legion square, cycling to work, not keeping your items in a car etc. The removal of the NCZ's around the server, in retrospect, has been a great relief to potential RP blockers and looking back, their existence did not make the greatest of sense either. Its claimed these areas would be "considered populated, extremely public, and areas that would have ample security measures such as cameras, staff, and so forth" but realistically we take many liberties with how populated San Andreas is, and quite rightly so for gameplay aspects. The long term opportunities for RP and the benefits that bring, greatly outweighs short term teething problems that can be mitigated via added faction lockable doors, or mitigated via IC decisions.
