I agree with the idea of blocking IDs from showing with more things, like removing IDs when someone is masked, or in a vehicle with windows up. However, removing it completely would difficult unless there was a huge amount of variation between player models available.

+1 People have already mentioned that this would just make things simply more enjoyable, from the stand point that PD and SD are engaging in all sorts of RP across the city and county and all of your RP is completely halted while waiting for someone to think, "fine, I'll go". It would simply make people happier, balancing the pros and cons, the pros win. A question of RP is similar to that at the scrapyard, or Mors, even comparative to the parking system, click a button, select a vehicle and bring it out, if we are demanding people use roleplay in the form of /me's and /do's at the impound, perhaps we'd need to enforce it elsewhere.

Welcome! Starting off can be difficult, but just remember it's an RP server and is built around player interactions. Getting involved and interacting with others is the main way you'll enjoy yourself! A lot more than being a lone wolf at least! (Although that is an option too!)

+/-1 Although it would be nice to have some difference in licenses, there has been some other suggestions involving being able to show individual licenses, pehaps adding "/license ID prison" could be another one!

@alexalex303 @MrSilky Thank you both for inputting to this discussion! As I'll continue to remind all readers of this, I am not in a Legal Faction with Pagers, nor in a Criminal Faction, I am simply looking to discuss the possibility of balancing this as it uses a 3rd Party tool to increase one sides advantage, from a neutral stand point. This is loosely the example of the original post. Something to either allow criminals to be able to utilise 3rd party (Discord) to ping in a reactive way as Legal Factions are permitted to do via role-playing pagers, or disqualify both sides for doing it. As permitting one side and not the other is unbalanced. Would you agree perhaps that if a gang was to also utilise pagers themselves, RPly giving themselves them, and creating a channel such as "#call-to-arms" or something in their discord that a reactive ping, like that of SWAT, SED, CERT, etc. would be acceptable in your view?

@FatherOsborn Thank you for replying! As I've said already, I don't have a character who is in a Criminal Faction nor in a Government Factions that utilises a pager, the purpose is for discussion, so points like this are perfect! In the situation described, you mention a group of people with heavy weapons taking people hostage. We realistically can assume that this group in the scenario are experienced players due to co-ordination plus their equipment, and the group would have enough time on the server to understand how the server works. If they were attempting to create a hostage RP for PD to attend they would do so when there is adequate police presence on the streets. How would they know this? They'd simply looks outside, perhaps scout around, seeing 1 cruiser in 20 minutes in high traffic areas would clearly indicate that there is not a high police presence and an attempt to RP heavily with police wouldn't be beneficial. If this was to happen, the hostages would not be for PD to deal with, but would be apart of something else, potentially gang affiliated. This would be a potentially exciting RP scenario that would not even require police to attend. If it was witnessed by on officer and an interaction began, it wouldn't be in the Officer's favour, as it's not designed to be fair for them. It would simply be a loss. The time chosen with limited police would have been done so on purpose, and using an OOC ping to awaken people to overwhelm the situation would potentially take away from a deeper RP planned. Promoting fun and deeper RP should be considered before stomping it out with overwhelming force! @MrSilky Thank you for your addition to the thread also! As mentioned this is for a discussion on both sides, I'll just be balancing the statements as best I can! Factions are able to OOCly remind people of RP Ops. Normally in the form of "Reminder, RP 1 Ops in 1 hour!" And repeated, until "RP ops now!". There is a difference between this and what happens with the pager system. Here is a difference in the pings. Situation - A gang has attempted to take a drop, PD have discovered this and a shoot out has started. Both sides use their 'Pager'. Upon receiving a Discord ping attached to the 'Metro SWAT' pager saying "Your pager would go off", a member can look at his/her/their Discord, stop what they are doing, load up and log on to ECRP, jump on their character, grab their equipment and be out of the door at Mission Row and have hopped in their cruiser before they even know what the situation is. Upon receiving a Discord ping in the faction notice area saying "Rp Ops Now", checking their discord, a member might consider missing this 'meeting' to carry on playing Minecraft, they then decide "actually, sure I'll log on", load up ECRP, jump on their character, attempt to radio their faction by finding the right frequency from text messages, ask what's happening, run around collecting their equipment from their houses, getting a car ready, and then begin to head in the direction of the vague location. The amount of information you'd think is being restricted by not including IC information in the Discord ping is not equal. Legal factions have a much greater understanding by using their pager and the type of pager about what the situation is, "Rp Ops" gives no sense of direction due to it being so vague. How would you balance this? Additionally I'd also like to add to this my personal view on Pagers. As I mentioned in the original post, I support Pagers, and I support them 100%, but only if there is a counter balance for crims, making them something in game too promotes realism, perhaps even alternate in game recruiting tactics for factions, legal and illegal, getting members in all time zones perhaps! I'd like to ask in this thread these questions; "Should a gang vs gang fight where a ping has been used to bring members online for the fight be penalised?" And, "Should it be considered to NonRP to log out while inside a Legal Faction HQ?"

It's a shame, when I used to see a new person and stop for a chat, they'd often ask, "Where is a good place to go/meet people?" I'd always recommend the pier, regardless of the time of day, there were people there, all type, legal, illegal, cops and crims. So much life was there, so many people to meet, coupled with an easy, relaxing way to make money. It's how most of us started off, making some money, making connections. If it wasn't for the pier I would have had such a lower quality experience as a whole. Like @XeV mentioned, it's likely the only reason I played after the 2nd week of my time on the server. I just knew so many people so quickly that going off and finding something to do was so easy and enjoyable. I think an increase in prices for selling fish would actually help. ICly there hasn't been as much supply of fish, so demand is surely higher .

Background I am currently only apart of Weazel News faction and this suggestion does not effect me entirely, however it is something that I think would allow the server to be more balanced as oppose to 'Nerf PD' or whatever else. During my time in the LSEMS faction, I was told about a particular rule, "You cannot use a panic while injured, due to criminals not being able to." This meant that as a legal faction member you were not allowed to CTRL+E or type /em while your character was injured this is due to causing a call number and a blip to appear on the map, allowing other members of the legal factions (LSEMS/PD/SD) to know exactly where you are to come and help you. Obviously criminals on the server do not have something as powerful as this, and the rule was made to create a balance in the server between legal and criminal, relying on a call to 911 or texting your location. This led me to think about what areas could be improved by balancing the Crim Vs Cop aspect of the server. Issue Currently LSEMS, PD, SD and DOC all have an incredible advantage over illegal factions due to the use of 'Pagers', for those who don't know, ICly players can receive an RP 'pager', this allows them to respond to an OOC ping on Discord that there is something happening so they can log on and help in the situation. This reaction is often so quick due to faction members often not 'going home' after a shift and instead log off in a locker room. This means that as soon as the Pager is pinged, it can take a player less than 5 minutes to log on, instantly go on faction duty, get their loadout, and respond to the on-going situation. Criminals don't have this luxury and a ping in discord regardless of what it says, is classed as Metagaming, enough said. Solutions There are two main solutions I'd like to put forward to balance this for criminals. 1. Remove the Discord ping entirely, keep it in game. Use an alternative method or something, perhaps even script support for ACTUAL Pagers, that send a notification to the wearer. (Right clicking the item and selecting 'Use' attaches it to your character.) 2. Allow criminal factions to have their own 'Pager' system, either being a Pager too, or perhaps a ping "@Gang Text" Or something similar. Just something to allow Criminals to be able to enter into situations after being notified OOC through discord when they aren't in game. If you think it sounds overpowered for Criminal Factions to use this, take it away from Legal Factions too. Having a ping on Discord which permits players who aren't even online to be able to log on and join into an active roleplay is a crazy advantage. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on this matter. I'd like this thread to maintain the core theme of Pager/Discord Ping for an IC advantage. Thank you.

-/+ 1 Hi! As someone who doesn't have a 'mainstream' crim, nor an LEO character I can take a non-bias view of this. Most of the issues with Crim vs Cops comes from lack of RP between the two making the whole 'RP' scenarios negative and not fun. Both sides need to give something back to each other to avoid the negative experiences. Over-powered LEOs The LEOs in the city are meant to be able to win to prevent 'gangland' from being the norm, it's designed that they have an advantage over an average criminal. There is plenty of times where LEOs 'lose' but that is normally down to being out-gunned, out-skilled or even from not knowing what they are meant to do. To say they are over powered is fine, but they are meant to be that way, or gangs would rule their area of the cities with PD not being able to shield the civilian/legal population from this. It's been mentioned, that paying for equipment, vehicles and fuel etc should be added to "take away their advantage" but I support this simply to add more immersive RP for LEOs, this shouldn't be locked to Law Enforcement Factions either, all Official Factions with the ability to take out equipment and vehicles should be treated the same. Another key thing, which does actually push LEOs to be considered over-powered, is the reliance of Lethal Force, due to the FearRP rule as soon as an officer LEO points a gun at a suspect all RP that the person could add to a situation fades. Have fun, don't spam taze people instantly when they run, go for a parkour foot chase for a little bit, see where it goes, it opens the door for different and sometimes hilarious RP when you give people a bit of rope to play with. At an IC level I believe that aiming a potentially life ending weapon at someone who's just evaded from a ticket, as a law enforcement officer, is ridiculous. I live in Europe, and there is minimal cop shooting for this, so if that's an American realism thing, or just a server thing, I don't know. Let people have fun, and you'll be better for it. Improvements to Criminals' experience I've had the privilege to roleplay as an alternate type of criminal, and it's seriously been some of the most fun I've had on the server, and I know that LEOs also enjoyed the RP I was able to provide them with because it was designed to encourage active and fulfilling RP. I mention this for one simple reason, we are all here to RP. We joined ECRP and some of us who've been playing for a long time do so still because we really do enjoy RP. If criminals WANT to RP with Law Enforcement, give them some rope too, allow a situation to be more enjoyable for both sides. If you've just run away from a shootout where you've been shot and PD have pulled you over for speeding, utilise /do to make your scenario your own, "yes sir" "no sir" "you're a pig sir" "thank you sir" isn't fun, it's repetitive and neither side benefits from it. Using your skills as RPers you can make a simple traffic stop meatier and slightly more enjoyable for either side, that's just one example but as we know you can actually make almost anything more enjoyable with a little creativeness and effort. If your RP involves you needing to get to point one to point two, and a police stop is the last thing you want, do what @SkyeFuryy mentioned, drive normally, lower your suspicion level, that is ROLEPLAY, having a motive/mission and acting as though you want to be able to achieve that under any circumstances simply makes sense. Having an AK on your back, and being pulled over for going 120kmph past Burgershot is your fault. Use your creativity to outweigh the LEOs tactical advantage. I know @Melody Frey used RP to beat PD in many ways, and it's something that should totally be explored more, if winning scriptly doesn't work, try something else until changes are made. Improvements to Law Enforcement's experience This will also include other legal factions, DOC and MD namely. Similar to what I've been mentioned above, we're all here to enjoy the world of RP. Not mentioning individuals, as it's a long list, but in all legal factions that frequently interact with civilians and criminals alike there are robotic members. People who have their script, and stick by it, when making an application to join one of the government agencies you're required to give a background to the character you want to play, and if you are a black and white, cut and paste of a person, you'd be denied. One thing that is so often missing from interactions from faction members and non faction members is that colourful roleplay that your characters are meant to have. Law Enforcement, if you want people to stop shooting at you, if you want people to stop being 'assholes' to you, talk to people, build respect, be a character who wants to enjoy their work, just because you're not in your community relations department ICly doesn't mean you can't interact with people. Give people opportunities to RP with you, and allow yourself to enter other people's roleplay, you don't have to control the direction 100% of the time, you'll have much more fun, and so will they if you switch it up. (Within reason, don't get into a stranger's van pls). DOC, you have a pool of people in your cellblock that are bored, they've just been given 6 hours of prison time by the over-powered LEO factions (lol). Talk to them. Interact, if you think there isn't enough to do, ask for things, script might be limited but as an RP server you can ask @Chunder to add items from the furniture store, be creative. LSEMS, it doesn't matter if it's a civilian who fell off of their BMX or a gang member who's been shot during a gun fight, RP with them. That doesn't mean the robotic, copy and paste "/me looks over the person for injuries" "/do what do I see?", talk to them, elevate from ticking the boxes to drawing on the corner of the page, make people think you aren't just a means to 'not die' but a person who's trying to save their life. Closing This thread does raise concerns, and rightfully so, but learn from other people's posts. At the end of it the staff team and development team can't fix things if points aren't raised. Voicing concerns is absolutely the best way to help a community, but only when done right.

I'd like to add a suggestion for DOC, there are too many guard that passively carry firearms. In and around prisoners. In real life it is very rare to see firearms be used by prison guards without being in an active situation. In game this limits RP for prisoners, at the moment it's agreed that DOC is very limited for RP possibilities for inmates, most of the RP that people can have is with either violence or 'criminal' acts in the prison, due to most guards carrying firearms, this limits massively the extent of some RP due to the overwhelming advantage of the guards. As soon as lethal firearms are drawn, which is done by some guards more than others, all chances of escalating or developing some existing RP is removed. I'd like to see what other people think about this. Edit: This has been resolved ICly by some cool people

-1 For the same reason as AtlasOfLimbo. As it stands with DOC there is too little to do for long periods of time for people to enjoy. Also, a lot of the players on the server RP their main character as a criminal. There would be such a large amount of people who would face 'life' in prison under this, it would render a huge amount of RP loss for the rest of the server involving criminals! Playing as Sophia, I gave the detective branch something more than finger-printing guns, tracing phones, and just generic anti gang rp. I rp'd with lots of people and took many lives icly (haven't been caught for OOC ones yet teehee) and was arrested a few times for 2-3 murders at a time. It was becoming less fun due to being let out to do the same again and again, where in the real world life sentences would have been given for less! I thought it would be a great idea to intiate a long term sentence (life), in DOC. I reached out to the Faction Management and got permission to do so, I continued my RP as much as I could as an OOC 'finale' and an IC spree. My RP journey made 100% sense to go to DOC and as my character was not financially dependent, for example, didn't take part in drug cooking, or gang crimes majorly, and her only focus was/is her drive to cause pain/kill, there wasn't much of a reason not to try it. I'm trying to find ways for long term prisoners to enjoy the RP in prison, and not making it a Alt Tabbed simulator. At the moment it's a mixed culture in DOC with the RP, more on the negative side however. I could go in deeper, but there is a different place for that discussion!

Hello! I hope everyone is well! As an experienced player using RageMP and with over 12 months on ECRP, I'm familiar with over 90% of all of the server's potential for day to day rping, along with commands, anims and so on. However, of course people who are new into the server don't have the muscle memory of using commands fluently and accurately, which can cause gaps where some very interesting rp/quality of life things could be! Including not knowing information about the server that would be extremely useful to know that can help them RP, find things to do, and have an enjoyable time! The in-game help menu, accessable via /help or F5, is outdated with old commands, looks fairly messy and could do with a much needed refurbishment! Additions in the Jobs section of the new freelance jobs too! I'm sure is plenty that could be added and adjusted, and it would be great to see new players being able to understand how to 'use' the server more effectively!
