replace files in GTA 5 folder

run steam in offline mode

and then just start rage mp as admin

Probably just verify cache integrity on steam or it will just auto update I am guessing to get 1.44 later

Use at own risk

Social club will lose his game. Social club will ask you cd key again so that means you will need to buy game again. My brother tried this and now he cant play gta because he needs new key.

Sorry about that. Best he contacts Rockstar Support

You wont lose your game. It is only saying that it needs an activation key because you didn't download all the files and it thinks it's the hosts game still.

If this does not work, Verify GTA 5 files to get back to your save so you can play and get rid of the activation code error.

Yeah, it's one of the most huge problem of steam. Likely for users, there is a possibility to turn off updates and play at old version, sitting offline. But there are games, where the main game process is going on servers, which need time to adapt to new version, like GTA, GarysMode. So, it can be sad, when you have some free hours, which you want to spend, playing game, but it doesn't work, because you have forgotten to turn off automatically updates. People, who buy games on sites, like https://www.cdkeysforgames.com/ , meets with this problem more often, than people, who buy games on Steam, because there is no notification about updates, during instalation of the game. Maybe anybody knows how another way of fixing of this problem?

Typically when GTA is going to hit a big update someone will save the necessary files and post a link to them in the discord. This at least allowed with the Casino Heist update for anyone who might have unintentionally update to roll back. Just another good reason to be in the Eclipse RP discord.

not sure if this topic is still active, but I came across some intresting stuff when I tried to downgrade a game on steam (Beat Saber) a few weeks ago. Then I found out that pretty much every game version of Steam is still stored and downloadable using the Steam console. Here is a simple reddit post that explains how:

So this is not only usefull for GTA, but also other steam games 😉
