Xoza
Greetings, This has been an issue for some time, brought up in other areas and vehicle discussions. Vehicle models, even asset names should not be available IC. If a player wants to know what kind of vehicle a vehicle is, they should look it up, ask an owner, friend or visit a dealership to see it. The information I'm talking about is mainly the turning on/off of the vehicle and ctrl+x+rightclick. Ctrl+X+Righclick should say "Selected Vehicle: <CLASS> [PLATE]" Ex: "Selected Vehicle: SPORT [DIR123]" Turning on/off vehicles should "/ame <Name> turns on/off the engine of the <CLASS> vehicle." at most.
IAmTurtle
+1 i like this change. It should be an easy thing to do. But my question is how often does this get used to were it is a problem?
GR_Seb
I understand your point but everyone can simply read the vehicle model at the back of every car.

The issue is that it doesn't have any range, which is what is being abused. People can find out the model of any vehicle that is very far away from them by using this feature. You are correct, and they should read the model of said vehicle, or know what model it is. There are several vehicles especially government vehicles that say models that aren't exactly what they look like, like "PoliceScout2" instead of "Scout". This suggestion is not to make understanding our vehicles more complicated, but to make them more realistic and increase RP interaction about vehicles and knowing them, with a little benefit of players not metagaming the difference between an unmarked government vehicle vs the standard model from a distance.

Xoza
Reviving again! This has impacted my own roleplay for years, as well as I'm sure many others. It should be a simple enough change.
Xoza
Still hoping for a fix for this. Please remove Ctrl+X and On/Off vehicle name information. Identifying a vehicle should be IC and knowledge of the vehicle, or reference of said vehicle. You shouldn't get a free printout of exactly what the vehicle is. This impacts RP quite a bit, especially with law enforcement.
