Only require checkups for flight school if the char has a condition

I firmly believe we should go back to the previous system of only requiring a medical examination if a character has a medical condition that requires it.  The character could sign a waiver saying "To the best of my knowledge I do not have any medical condition that would affect my ability to safely fly."

I know it's kind of an IC thing, but this reasoning is ooc so suggesting it here.

From the AMU side, so much of requests are for these exams.  The rp is uninteresting.  We are hounded on and off duty despite the procedures in place because not having the exam holds people up.  In the year these exams have been implemented I have not once had a player rp anything but normal results because it's just a roadblock for them getting through FTS.  When doing my rating for the swift my instructor could not find my profile because it was buried in his search because of all the exams.

From the patient side it's a frustrating experience.  We have a very limited number of doctors, so it can be hard to get people in quickly, which holds up their ability to progress with their training.

So realistically yes it makes sense to have these checkups, but this is a game and this rp adds no fun or value for anyone involved.

In respect and understanding monotony of doing things on repeat being frustrating. This is still very much role-playing happening and this feels massively like an IC issue to be ran from LSEMS command/ high command/AMU as well as SAAA leadership.

I understand it's annoying truly I do. But this does feel like an issue perhaps LSEMS and SAAA can work on ICly.

I can see the argument that this is an IC issue, but then again, the reasoning only makes sense OOCly so I can see the reason for suggesting it here to be valid and I think that side the argument is better.

If this went to LSEMS and SAAA icly, they would have almost no choice but to shoot it down. as a thorough medical examination would of course be required before being passed to fly IRL. OOCly however there are very good reasons to not require this or have it "done by an out of city clinic."

-LSEMS is a pretty light faction. theres only so many people working there and only so many of them qualified for this kind of thing? I totally get the frustration that must come with being hounded either when you're off duty.

-SAAA applicants will of course be frustrated when no one is on shift to do their examination as it holds back their application, resulting in them resorting to trying to track down persons when they are off duty, this is a bad look for the applicant and annoying for the MD player.

-The RP in these examinations isnt really proper RP. or fun. its a simple backing and forthing between the doctor and the applicant. the answers barely deviate. theres no creativity here, nothing that couldnt be copy pasted. and the applicant isnt going to respond with anything interesting or unusual because they need to pass to get their wings thus they will give the most cookie cutter answers they can.

overall I agree with the suggestion that they should be foregone. better yet if we were to take this IC, have the applicants fill out a questionnaire and then send them to "an out of state clinic" to have an examination done. you could justify this as MD outsourcing some of their less critical care to a private institution. If the applicant at that point wishes to actually engage in MD RP, they can indicate that by either presenting discrepancies on the questionnaire or at the clinic visit.

Has this been raised OOC with government command? I feel like this is an inter-factional ooc issue more than anything, or the kind of thing you’d raise to LFM if it’s producing boring rp and adding frustrations to the MD faction.

Hi all,

I'll be locking and archiving this thread as a member of legal faction management, as it's currently being discussed by the poster themselves and the factions command team within their discord and involving LFM in this subject.
