i mis the pier days.... i miss where everyone would just gather after a long day ,chilling, meeting new people, the drama with the busses and shootouts XD I miss that yes, it was so easy to make friends, everyone would try their hardest to flex their cars and personal touch on their cars

As long as the boat fishing and Deep-sea diving is done around the pier like mentioned in this suggestion then I'm all for this!
I would also like to see the fish prices increase from the current $176 a fish.

There are multiple factors that killed the pier.

  • Cop Harassment over Vehicles parked
  • The mask law at the time allowed for instant searching of civilians (before it was walked back)
  • Speeding Tickets
  • Better paying alternatives

Currently a thing of the past, due to very few people coming to the pier. tho if vehicles are parked lawfully (sensibly) and dont have outstanding charges etc i see no reason why this would continue.

  • The mask law at the time allowed for instant searching of civilians (before it was walked back)

This is wholly an IC issue. if you are masked in a public place cops do have the right to ask you to unmask. it is what it is and frankly its an essential part of the cops and robbers RP.

  • Speeding Tickets

Since dealt with. speeding tickets be no more.

  • Better paying alternatives

Not entirely sure what youre on about.

Comments above. Frankly i dont think any of these things flat out killed the pier, what killed it was fishing no longer being very viable as a moneymaker. Understand that while pier was a socialising hotspot, it was only possible as people were reliably there working, meaning people would pop down to see who is around, which generated the social aspect.

with improvements to burgershot and roadworkers fishing became inefficient and frankly boring, as it dosent offer the interaction that the other freelance jobs does.

setting that aside. I am hopeful most of these concerns have been addressed...the biggest outstanding problem seems to be getting people down to the pier, not keeping them there due to restrictions by law enforcement, which are largely no longer a thing.

With regards to fishing i know in the pipeline there are improvements with both the general function of fishing as well as prices and even RPG stats for improvement. all of this is in the works so im told so, hopefully, we will soon be in a position where people will once more have reason to flock to the pier.

Agree completely!

I remember the days the pier was popping, and cops would come down and do the whole parking ticket stuff, the masks off arrests, handing out citations, I know many people who stopped going for that alone and it became a problem of boredom and vibe killing, at the same time there were cops who'd come down and hang out too, but some took it way too seriously and pushed a lot of people away!

Yes, the speed camera put the final nail in the coffin I fear, and then as you say, better paying alternative jobs.

Good suggestion +1

I still think these are great suggestions that would help bring the pier back to life, but the main thing is that this would truly have to be a thing for players to also take the initiative to do. I’m clarifying now that I’m not undermining the suggestion or discussion.

For people that want to hang out at the pier, it would have to be a place that’s established as a hangout spot by other players, and would encourage other players to stick around, because if not many people are at the pier to fuel RP, it wouldn’t encourage those who stop by to stick around.

I still think this is a great suggestion nonetheless that would for sure help with creating more RP at the pier.

So on reflection, it feels like maybe people would prefer just the old mechanic of the fishing where you'd wait and when you were prompted, you press the button to grab the fish.

Would people prefer that, to now or a hooking minigame.

I'll update the original post as well.

just the old wil do, its great for standing there having a conversation, chilling, not something to use your brain for,
look at oil drilling, it was a great thing, now with this circle minigame it just hurts the brain. for a picklock sure but not something to do repeatedly over and over

i also agree that having the minigame on a lot of freelance jobs makes my brain tired and i dont want to work anymore after like 10 minutes

You get more tired doing that minigame than enjoying the game itself. That's why people prefer to do nothing.
