Allow voting on reports that cannot be decided

I like many people, find myself looking through player reports to keep myself up to date with current events.

I think it would be a cool idea to allow an upvote/downvote style addition to reports which cannot be concluded by the "judge" (Admins) and let the "Jury" non admins have a vote which can be taken into consideration by the admins when concluding the report?

Sometimes I see what seems to be some iffy RP go in the favour of the reported party, and sometimes its not necessarily about the rules in black and white, but the quality of the RP that backs it up.

A lot of us have opinions and regardless if they have 0 effect on the outcome it would be super cool to be able to show admins what the community thinks of the situation via means of reaction.

I know it's a stupid idea in reality but i just think it would be a community addition that might add value

We used to have reactions on reports a long time ago, what actually ended up happening was rival factions would mass spam downvotes on their 'ops' and it was a toxic hellhole.
It was less about showing whether people think things are valid, and more about supporting friends regardless of what they did and being negative on an ooc level to the other side.

oh, yikes, should have seen that one coming but i kinda hoped people would be more open minded than that.

Here's 2 extreme examples from a few years ago where basically all the positive reactions were from people who were affiliated with the post in question and the negative ones are who were on the "other side":

(the cat with 74 reacts used to be the old downvote button I think)

Your idea makes sense in an ideal world where people are sensible, but it was just honestly very toxic and damaging to feeding ooc tension with relationships between groups on the server. I don't know if this was the actual reason they decided to remove reactions in reports but I'd guess it was something along those lines.

If a scenario came up where a wild decision happened and the community in general didn't think it made sense, there's the avenue of decision appeals where it can be explained more, and even after that the forum discussion areas where the general topics brought up in the report can be discussed which staff would look at.

Yeah sorry this is conceptually a bad idea. whilst the occasional well meaning person might try to give an objective opinion, they would be glorified popularity contests and most people would just vote depending on who they like/dont like.

Also worth noting that ECRP isnt and has never been and honestly should never be a democracy. Admins and staff have all the power and responsibility because they are supposed to be impartial and act in the interests of the server above anyone else.

The ability for players to even see reports of other players was taken away not long ago, due to pressure some staff felt to make the "popular" decision rather than the right decision. This suggestion would hyperinflate that issue, and would overall be a significant negative to th community.

As others have said previously, the last time reactions were enabled on reports, it resulted in gangs downvoting or upvoting reports against or from their gang.
