Have scripted consequences for Offical Illegal factions who cause Public Labs to get shut down

  • Who is the suggestion for?
    - T2+ illegal factions
  • Why is the suggestion being made?
    - A way to incentivize discretion for illegal factions using labs by having some form of scripted punishment for causing public labs to get shut down by law enforcement

  • What are the pros and/or cons of the suggestion?
    - Pros:
    - Scriptly enforced punishment against illegal factions who cause Public labs to get shut down by Law Enforcement
    - New way to damage competing illegal factions reputation outside of selling to their turfs or PVP mentality fighting
    - new ways for official factions to itneract with non official factions or solos, paying them or forcing them to work the lab to avoid the gang getting punished if the lab gets burnt.

    - Cons:
    - would have no negative effect on non official or T1 factions, which could be abused?
    - people complain about another crim nerf?
    - dev work?
    - people script abusing leaving F4 to cook and rejoining to not lose faction rep

So, certain labs stay up for a long time, while others are only up for mere hours or even less. a significant amount of the new city labs are very quickly shut down due to lack of discretion by the gang members using it. It's painfully obvious when there's 5-6 cars parked right out front of one, and Law Enforcement quickly catch on and investigate. So, it would make logical sense that there should be some form of punishment via scripted dealers reputation or potentially IC reputation with the Cartel.

I'm not sure on the exact system on how this would work, but it could be based on who last used the tables, and for whatever faction they are in, if that table at that lab is shut down by law enforcement, there would be a scripted negative effect on your dealer reputation in your turfs. There could also be some form of notification that the IC cartel receives, telling them who's getting the labs shut down over and over. RPly someone is setting up these public labs for players to use, and there should be some system that keeps tracks of who's causing them to get burned by law enforcement.

Any ideas? what do you guys think?

I can see the logic in the suggestion, but the execution is an entirely different matter.

Setting aside how the consequences would be enforced (and i cant see any decent way that dosent involve case by case admin involvement) it would immediately get metagamed. suddenly people would be causing a ruckus at labs not to try and push and take them over but to simply get them shut down because the last people to cook on them were from a gang they dont like, and a cartel consequence would be a bigger kick in the balls than any single druglab L.

The server already has a problem with crims calling 911 to rat on other organisations activities and this would exasperate that further as well.

In summary i think the result would not be what you want. crims would just start to flat out avoid certain labs altogether because they are simply too risky to sack cartel favour for trying to run.

I think this is impossible to enforce, I believe that the only way to solve this issue is to make every lab equal in the ways they can be utilized, should a lab then be shut down it wouldn't hurt criminals as much as it does at the current time, I believe the developers are working actively on it.

i get the idea but the fact that when a lab gets shut down its already a massive kick in the throat to crims for reasons stated above. most people utilise coke, marijuana and lsd tables as other drugs at the moment are just not deemed worth your money/time to cook even with all the different consumption effects or taking boosting sale prices into account. things need to be balanced a bit more first.

police are not allowed to just "investigate" a lab, they need a reason to go in there like hearing gun shots.

in SD we see people drive into hole in the wall constantly and we just ignore them because are aren't allowed to remember it. if a police officer is routinely catching you in a lab, report them because it's against the rules to just randomly investigate people coming in and out of a Lab.

Personally I feel like having the lab shut down and rotated is enough consequence in of in itself, let’s say a lab with lots of tables gets shut down, and a new lab is opened with very little tables, that already is a negative consequence from getting caught slipping from LEO players.
