Automatic Impound

Recommended Posts

This has already been suggested probably half a dozen times before

There are good reasons its not automatic that you can see in the comments on the other post. I can assure you its not due to cops being lazy, but rather either lack of units or higher priority situations.

There are a few things that need to be adjusted and tested first to see if they help with the issue.

Right now, LEO's do not know which impound lot the bell is being rang at.

Secondly, during low times, it's hard to get LEO over there when we get multiple 911 calls of someones grandmother being lost, or heavy weapon or rapid weapon fire calls.

Other times, it's just there aren't enough LEO's on shift.

Automating it would be nice for all individuals, civs and crims, as you'd get your car on-demand, however I could see some potential development issues:

  • Is your license suspended? Nope, great next check.
  • Do you have citations that are over 7 days, or 189 hours to the dot old? Yeah? Can't release it. No, next check
  • Are you wanted? Yes, great, have a nice day. No, next check
  • How many cars do you have impounded? 1, great we can release it. More than 1? That'll be problematic as there are only so many spawn points at impound.
    • Take in account this is automated, and someone has 2 cars impounded. They can only drive 1 car at a time, most of the times people just end up leaving their car there, cuz now they have it
    • Now times this by the number of people that need their cars, and we run into a new issue, no more spots to bring a vehicle from impound
      • Next suggestion would be, allow it to be parked at X. That takes more development time now

This all seems like it's just "super easy" or "requires no real big development", but there are things that need to be done and checked which is why it's not automated. You can just suggest that "it doesn't matter if your license isn't suspended", but then you run into people saying "Well the impound released it, so I didn't know it was suspended" causing a triage of LEO interaction nightmares.

PD usually to busy rolling labs/ following random people in a heli until they do something to get arrested/ "randomly" checking phones of people they know are in garbage etc

when someone does call for the impound PD probably don't even see the call as all the cops are probably spam dropping backups getting ready to join tac-1 and push a lab and everything just gets lost in the amount of chat spam they get.

If it being fully automatic isn't going to happen at least maybe let it be automatic when there are less than a certain amount of cops on duty, like how you can't start a bank without a certain number of cops being online.

also anything like if the person has a warrant for there arrest, suspended license, outstanding tickets etc. this can all be coded in so it wouldn't be possible for a crim to get there car. And maybe even if cops got alerted when someone with a warrant tried getting there car out would be something.

Unless you have full 100% evidence on this accusation, I'd ask that you refrain from making that. This statement is 100% inaccurate, and misinformation.

Hey man! I wasn't meaning to accuse anybody. I was just saying it how I see it being in PD for a month watching it all happen. Them god darn chats do really be getting spammed

Been in PD for the past 2-3 months, never seen it happen once. Played LEO for the past 3 years, never seen it happen without a valid good enough reason. Cops don't "push labs" like crims and your view is straight up fallacious.

Don't turn this into a crim v PD thread :)))

seen everything from ESPing cops, cops with sound mods so they can hear shots from the other side of the map, cops camping labs, even cops deciding to go on a nice holiday trip on there own boat on duty and end up sat next to island lab to accidently see a "gang meeting" You'd be surprised how cops changed their changed there "patrol route" to sitting on the road above garbage with sound mods for 10 minutes
