How to make new players stay

Recommended Posts

My 2 cents as a new player....

I was accepted the other day after two attempts at the application. After the first one was rejected, I'll admit I was a little disheartened. However, I accepted the guidance, made the appropriate corrections, and was accepted. I figured that if the application process was this stringent, and the server was topping Google search on a different platform to most other servers, it would be top notch.

(No offence is intended here, but) the server sucked. I passed the driving test (during which I was overtaken by cops "chasing" nobody flat out down the freeway. Almost crashing into me - yes, I pulled in when I heard the sirens, although I barely had time to, they were all over the road.). I finished the test and took a rental scooter to my first job as a  cash courier. I hopped into my security van and went to my first location, an ATM. The ATM was instructing me to press "Y" to service it. I pressed "Y". Nothing happened. I turned around to find that my van had disappeared.  I was now stranded in the middle of the "city" with no transport.

I decided to take look around. I could hear traffic, and people. It sounded like a populated city, only there were no people, and no cars. It was like "28 days later" but with more noise. Completely unrealistic.

I kept looking around. There were people chatting occasionally in the chat window. I met one guy who was driving a cab after about 20 minutes of looking. He asked did I need a cab, but I had nowhere to go, so I politely declined.

Went looking for something else to do... couldn't find anything. Wasn't going to waste my time on another "job". Happened upon a cop station with 2 or 3 actual people. Was overjoyed, until one of those cops jumped into a car, drove up the street at break-neck speed, did a 180 hand brake turn, back to the station, crashed into a parked car, reversed out and carried on driving like a prat.

At this point, regretting that I hadn't taken the cab driver up on his offer, I phoned a cab. After waiting 10 minutes, I gave up an made my way to Tequil la la to find an empty building.

I logged off, uninstalled RageMP and went back to FiveM (which I finally figured out how to get running, and have been playing there since).

Good luck with the server guys (genuinely), it isn't for me though. Just thought you guys seem to be putting a lot of work in, and an actual first hand new player account may help. Is there a way of adding NPCs into certain areas to give them a bit of life (you can't possibly host enough people to make a city centre realistically populated)? This is still GTA, surely I should be able to find a car to steal? If either of those things had been there, I may have stayed on and given it a try.

I dont get what you mean by i should be able to find a car, If you drive around the city you will see cars to bobby pin ect, I really dont think you give the server enough time to play on, Ive got 190k exp and im still enjoying the server. Most taxi drivers will help you around the city, Tell them that your new and ask for advice.

extremely true i was with a player in my Washington driving around 1 car 2 bikes one guy in car says pull over in text chat. well honestly im not going to for one he did not roll down window using /me. and we are driving 100 kph. how the fuck are you going to here someone talking to you. then he began to chase us. witch i have shitty car so im ok with jumping curbs but he was all over the place. then one point a bike did a pit maneuver to the car.. like come one you guys whated to stop me that bad that a bike had to pit me, passenger said in /o that is bull and we kept the chase going. and then the payers followed down a dirt road and the player ramped my car fell off. you would think that the 2 others would make sure he ok or some shit but no left him behind and kept following. we escaped but people got to get a life. you see someone driving a shitty car or on a job leave them alone. robbing people is what you get no cash you may get a pair of pants or whats inside there inventory witch i never have anything becasue of robberies every 3 miles. its getting to be not fun. people say ohh you get robbed in real life. umm no. I have bin robbed 1 time in 28 years and it was my xgf taking my stuff. and all they do is come out with gun already drown from the car. there should be more roleplay like /me talking to driver and pull out pistal slowly. or dont expect a car doing 100 to stop. wait till he parks for gas or something. also dont shoot at a tanker full of fuel that just dumb.

If you know how people in SA-MP did roleplay and looking in here. I dont even think this is a RP server.. Yesterday some players tried to rob me in a clothing store.. Clothing store you kidding me? Right next to police station :DD For real people?? And they didnt had no guns, So i had no point of putting my hands up or anything like that, After i said Show me your weapon or i do nothing they just ran away. Server is good, But server needs a little bit more RP, Even with guns is the same, You are a gang member, you die, you just go to the same location you died take your car and drive like nothing happened.. Nobody looks at the rules, Its like gangs is all about shooting each other, Even in real life, i have never heard people robbing in a public place.. Come on people, Do some RP Atleast write this command for some players to react /me Withdraws his weapon from pocket or any other possision.. Do some roleplay.. Not like how it is done now, Withdraws a gun and yells into a microphone hands up... If it was done in the SA-MP server.. You would be instantly banned.

I am fully aggery with you on that. this is the first RP server were you can hear people going 100 kph though windows that are up. and people just saying pull over with guns actually drown with nothing said. they should be kicked for fail RP. your not going to pull over a transport going 100 kph expect him to stop shoot at him and get his shit the trucker will just drive his ass into you and kill you before anything happens. or having a motorbike do a pit maneuver on a car and disable it. I driving a Buick a motorbike should not be able to touch my car with out the biker losing a lag and the bike will be disabled after. or people trying to rob you and the guy falls off the bike. dies the guys should stop and save his freind and stop the chase. but no ohh well leave are gang member and continue chasing the guy, this server is full of non RP. I am sorry there are lots of nice people that I have met but the few nice guys are harder to find when your getting robbed every 3 miles.

I ran around 4 or 5km, with not a car in sight. No NPCs, no parked cars, just city noise and desolation (lol). I jumped on 3 or 4 other FiveM servers and was up and running in about half an hour. Even had multiple RP encounters during that time.

I probably should have taken the first cab driver up on his offer, but at that stage I was sure I would find a car to steal. The only cars I found were parked at the police station, but I'm aware of the No Crime Zone rule (thanks to the test.. lol). Although I considered breaking the rule out of frustration, but thought better of it. I didn't want to mess with someone else's game just because I was annoyed, so walked to Tequil la la and upon finding it empty, not wanting to waste time doing another possibly bugged job, waiting over 10 minutes for a cab and having nothing left to do, I  just logged off.

The lack of NPCs are a deal breaker for me personally. I'm glad you enjoy it though. I'd be extremely reluctant to give it another try. I have limited game time (particularly where I can use a mic - small kids in the house, usually sleeping when I'm playing) and wrestling with buggy scripts is not how I want to spend it. I thought the lack of NPCs was a bug until I did a bit of research and discovered it was by design. To me, it really makes the game look empty, and hard to blend in.

The server gets better once you hit 4k exp and you apply for government faction job, Mechanic, Taxi driver, Medic or Pd buddy, Good luck on what you do
