  1. I'm not sure if banning fa**ot entirely would have necessarily changed the outcome of this situation. What you're describing here is a rulebreak in which you've asked the individuals to stop using a certain slur, and they basically tell you to shut up and continue doing it. It may be possible that a proper ban would stop some individuals from using such words, in order to prevent being banned, but this type of situation could happen regardless, and the outcome is the same - they either get reported and punished or they don't get reported. I don't know exactly what sort of punishments are received for this sort of thing currently however. What do you think is the appropriate punishment for someone's second offense of using a slur, in the case that they are blanket banned? I must say, as a woman I am not for banning "gender based" derogatory terms. And this is where it gets tricky as well, because what someone actually finds too offensive is very subjective. It's clear even in your paragraph here, where you on one hand suggest blanket banning insults based on gender, but then say that calling someone a pussy or a dick is fine. I think those fall into the gender based category, whether you think they should be exempt or not. What if someone does find either of those specific words really offensive? What about bitch, again a word that typically falls into the gender based category, but is generally uncensored and allowed in most circumstances? There may be people who don't take kindly to that word at all or have personal experience with that specific word being used to bully or otherwise hurt them. I wouldn't personally be affected if a ban was put in place, and on a personal level there are certain words I would be more than happy to go without on the server, but the main issue is where do you start, and where do you stop? It's a complex issue that could very easily turn into politics and screaming matches if certain words are banned and others aren't. I feel that this rule could be elaborated on or emphasized a bit more, urging the members to use common sense and have respect for others, and to focus on what is sensible for their characters, rather than treating ECRP as GTA Online. I am well aware that there are some people who do not care for character development and whose primary goal is to get a rise out of others OOCly - however, I again fail to see how any blanket bans are going to eliminate this problem. In my opinion the already existing rule should instead be elaborated on a bit further, made clear and emphasized. Making it known that not playing seriously and hurling vulgarities at people for no reason other than "because you can" or because you want to get under people's skin OOCly has consequences, and what those consequences are. TLDR; I simply feel we already have the tool in place, and that adding more tools doesn't change anything from a big picture perspective.
  2. I'm sorry, I can appreciate that you are trying to look out for people, but this rubbed me the wrong way. Implying that bad words or slurs are comparative to or a slippery slope to sexual assault and ped*philia, or that a person who isn't for censoring all slurs must also be okay with those things, is insane. These two issues are a million miles apart. Now as it's been mentioned, there is a rule in place to protect people from having to hear a certain slur over and over if it does affect them negatively. And in the case that the person being asked to stop doesn't or mocks them, it is considered a rulebreak and can be reported to admins. If you are a person who are sensitive to certain words (and no shade or shame in that), utilize the rule already in place. I understand that people go on the server to have a good time and that some use it as escapism from their day to day, but at the same time, both the server and GTA itself as a game contains dark themes. Crime and violence is a huge theme for example, and I don't think it's realistic to expect the server to be all cozy and family friendly. So for me, banning specific words entirely is a -1 unfortunately. Not everyone are affected by slurs (I have no issues with feminine slurs personally) and those who are have the right to ask for them not to be used. I think claiming that "if they hear the word once, the damage is already done" isn't a very healthy viewpoint.

    Salvation

Betrayal Paves The Road To Salvation The afternoon sun hangs high above Mary Wright's head as she slowly pushes herself off the ground, hands stinging against the scorching hot asphalt. Grimacing, she stands up and dusts off her suit pants. Pale blue eyes, bright and intense, stare after the black Gauntlet Hellfire speeding off into the distance. Her Gauntlet Hellfire. The theft of her car however, isn’t what most aggravates her in this moment; it's the theft of the duffle bag stashed in her trunk. It so happens that said duffle bag is stacked to the brim with money and valuables worth 12 million dollars - give or take. All the planning, all the effort she’s put into that bank heist... just gone in a flash while she's quite literally left in the dust. Solomon Davies is the man responsible for this - her beloved partner in crime. A loose cannon at times, but smart, cunning, brutal, and wildly handsome all the same. He is exactly the kind of man that someone like 'Bloody' Mary Wright adores. Simultaneously, she has always known to handle him with caution, and yet... Somewhere along the line, she seems to have let her guard down just an inch too far. Now he plans to slander her name, write her off as a traitor to the rest of their crew, and keep most of the money to himself, if not all of it. She knows this, because mere moments earlier he'd told her so himself, in the typical ‘Villain monologue’ fashion. She is going to eviscerate him. "You dickless fucking weasel! To hell with you!" She shouts the insult at the top of her lungs and lets out a furious scream for good measure. Her partner is of course long gone, her expression of rage is in vain and she knows it, but it feels good anyway. Helps her calm down. With a long angry sigh and shaky fingers, she pulls out a small wad of cash from the breast pocket of her blazer. A consolation prize Solomon so kindly awarded her before kicking her out of her own vehicle at gunpoint. She does a quick count, coming up to 7 000 dollars. Seven measly K out of 12 million. The bills crumple as she clenches her fist. A few deep breaths and muttered swears later, she relaxes her grip and stuffs the cash back into her pocket. 'Easy now... he'll get his comeuppance. Right now, you gotta get outta this goddamned heat and regroup.' Looking around, she tries to gauge where exactly she is. She must be somewhere past Blaine County, which should mean that the city of Los Santos is somewhere up ahead along the freeway. Surrounded by desert rock and sand, she begins her trek towards civilization. The heat is suffocating, and - out of all the days to be wearing heels... Further down the road, a trucker rolls by and takes pity on her. Overheated and aggravated as she is, Mary still manages to charm the man enough to go a little off route. He drives her past a gas station where she buys a new phone, before dropping her off by a diner next to some car rental place called CityBee. After refreshing herself the best she can and having a bite to eat, she has a little chat with the waitress, posing as a tourist. Which she supposes she technically is. "The pier, that's a place where people like to hang out, do some fishing. I'd be careful though, gangs like to hang around there too." With a brilliant smile and a sweet ‘thank you kindly’, she pays the waitress for her meal and leaves the diner. Fishing, now that doesn't concern her much, despite doing her fair share of it growing up. Gangs, however… See, she knows she’ll have to make some new connections, quickly. Knowing her partner, ditching her must be something that Solomon has planned for a long time. It’s unlikely that he’ll leave any bridges for her to cross when it comes to their little family and various affiliations. At least he didn’t have it in him to finish the job and actually kill her. Stupid bastard. At the rental place, all they can offer her is an obnoxiously bright yellow Faggio. Not exactly the classiest or fastest method of transportation. Mary can't help but curl her lip in contempt just looking at the thing, but beggars can't be choosers and so she makes her way to Del Perro Pier at turtle's speed. The sun is almost down by the time she gets there. She is mildly surprised at the amount of people who seem to be there just to fish. Not really something she'd expect of city folk. She strolls around, pretending to be interested in the scenery when in actuality, she's seeking out somebody who may be worth her time. A friendly man eventually gifts her a spare fishing rod and allows her to join him and his friends in their cute little fishing and chatting session. She entertains their small talk for a while, listening attentively and offering up some innocent enough questions about the city and how it operates. All she reveals about herself is that her partner - implying it was a romantic relationship - pushed her out of a moving car and subsequently left her for dead. While true, it’s a decent sob story. Some time later into the evening, she strikes gold. Charlie Bankshot. Hearing Mary's story prompts this lovely stranger to introduce her to Jacqueline Drakk; Salvation High Command. Both women seem immediately sympathetic towards her dire situation and offer to help her out. They tell her about their organization, seeming to relate their brand of vigilante justice to the injustice Mary has faced with Solomon. Mary doesn't mind the conversation. She agrees, listens, and agrees some more. She’s comfortable enough to tell them about the money in her trunk and some of her criminal activities, but keeps much of it under wraps. Need to feel people out before you go telling them all about your darkest deepest business practices, after all. How or why they extend the offer of membership to her so quickly eludes her, but Mary is not one to bail on an opportunity when in need. So she accepts to join them. Come morning, she is set up with a new car - courtesy of Miss Charlie - and some extra cash to keep her afloat. They take her to a fancy apartment complex called Eclipse Towers where she receives more information about Salvation, what they wish to accomplish, and what will be required of her as part of their family. Well, as a "hangaround" they call it, until she can prove herself. Mary and the two charitable women are later joined by more members who she's introduced to, as well as some fella named Charles Pocket; another aspiring Salvation member. As Mary sits there, all polite talk and polite smiles, she doesn't know where she's going with all this or where she will land. But there are a few things on her mind. Firstly, she does feel genuine gratitude towards Miss Charlie and Miss Jackie, which elicits some sense of loyalty from her. The rest is pure curiosity and promise of opportunity. Secondly, she adores the Salvation dress code and can't wait to get out of her old clothes. Lastly, Solomon Davies has to die.
