  1. That would require an approved transfer request. https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/forum/70-refund-and-transfer-requests/

Don't show this to Coral LaFleur!

  3. My opinion clearly doesn't matter but I have to -1 this. I fully understand and acknowledge that the impound process is a pain in the ass for criminals. When I was with SD, I made an effort to prioritize impound over everything with the exception of Code-1's or the transportation of 10-15's. I would also never hesitate to take out a flatbed and dispatch to damaged vehicles when LSC or Bayview were unable to retrieve them. With that said, the majority of officers avoid any impound related duties because it's boring and requires paperwork. Someone will always eventually show up, but having to harass and buzz for 30+ minutes to get their attention isn't fair to those waiting. Compounding the problem is the way PD/SD handles Cadets/Trainees. For instance--there's a PAPA unit at the station on desk duty, more than capable of assisting you. But wait! Protocol does not allow him to unless he has completed FTS 2, and even then, trainees at that point of progression are usually coupled up in a SIERRA unit, under the supervision of another Deputy. It seems a lot easier to address this problem by either incorporating Bayview/LSC more in the impound release process, or designating a division in PD/SD to prioritize impounds. It doesn't make sense to have divisions for recruitment, Highway Enforcement, Special Enforcement, Investigations, etc. but neglect what I consider to be a crucial part of the job, which is impounds. If that isn't possible, then allow automation of the process so players aren't stuck waiting forever during dead times. Even if you only allowed this automation in certain situations, like when there's a low number of officers on duty, it would do wonders in fixing this issue. Executing this idea would take way more resources and development than just fixing it with what we have--which is possible. I'm all for more legal job opportunities but implementing this would create more problems than it would correct I feel. With that said, I fully support any idea or change that would help to remedy this problem.
  4. I thought it's inclusion within the picture was adequate, but I get you. I didn't mean to lessen that factor, but I do remember the video as well before it was pulled, and your memory of it is essentially the same as mine. Again I don't want to fuel debate over the report, that should be reserved for Decision Appeals. With that said, the rule reads as absolute but it isn't enforced as such. That's all I'm trying to highlight. Yeah that's true, although the line of where it becomes worthy of deathmatching is still sort of subjective, no?
  5. Hello Eclipsians, today I'd like to talk about the ambiguous and often contradictory portion of the deathmatching rule. The rule reads: It is interesting that despite specific mention of this being a justified reason to kill another player, we still see reports that disregard it as enough to warrant deathmatching. Of course context is important in any RP, but a call to the cops is quite literally worse than individual retaliation. By calling the police you are effectively weaponizing an entire faction against another player, a faction that is more than capable of injuring, and/or arresting you. That is why I believe the rule specifies this action as escalation, due to the severity of the consequences it brings. In this report, we see Senior Moderator @SirQubed deny deathmatching because the reporting party called the police: However, in this report we see Senior Moderator @Wolokai142 issue deathmatching punishments despite the reporting party calling the cops on the reported: This thread is not to encourage criticism, debate, or dialogue on the reports or moderators cited. Please be respectful of all parties involved. My intention is only to illuminate the confusion that can be created when rulings contradict each other. A lot of players rely on these rulings as examples of what not to do, and as it stands, you cannot confidently kill someone if they call the cops on you, even though the rule specifically states that it is sufficient. Obviously it's not black and white, and Moderator discretion exists for a reason. I really think both verdicts have merit to them. My concern is that this confusion potentially sets players up for failure, as what is considered absolute in the rules is not really reflected in the precedent set by staff. So what does everyone else think? Does a call to the cops always grant DM rights?
  6. -1. I understand the frustration of miss clicks affecting RP, but this would pretty much guarantee that cops will compromise your frequency when you are evading. I've seen action timers be activated from a driver, but I've never seen it while the vehicle was moving, so I'm not sure how that would even work. By that time it's too late because you would immediately be mobbed by the police. Perhaps it's possible to implement it appropriately where it can be done without any effect on your ability to drive, but I also believe it's unrealistic for other reasons. Changing frequencies on a modern radio doesn't take 3-5 seconds IRL. In fact, it probably takes longer to change with text chat than the real world counterpart. This would effectively be a buff for police and could cause major problems for factions, both official and unofficial.
  7. A similar situation to this happened at Lost MC headquarters a while back, where someone intentionally zero'd out all the vehicles parked there by hitting them repeatedly. It's obviously against the rules but it'd be awesome if a hotfix could nerf damage dealt to vehicles from player punches. Even if you get a refund request approved you still have to pay the 25k up front to keep your car operational, which is a pain in the ass. So if you're suggesting that, +1!
  8. That's a fair point, but I think Eclipse is designed to preclude portions of the player pool out of concerns for quality control. One thing I've noticed with servers that aren't whitelisted or have an easier learning curve is that despite having significantly higher player counts, they are an absolute nightmare to navigate. Rule breaks are the norm, with no real accountability for offenders. IC it's even worse, with unrealistic economies so inflated that you need a calculator to purchase anything. The strategy of strict rules with administrative oversight on both reports and appeals will naturally weed out repeat offenders, but because this protects other players in the process, it's an excellent investment in retaining them. A server's player base can tolerate a lot of neglect in certain areas of development or management, but they will not tolerate being the victim of repetitive rule breaks every time they log in. That's why so many people, even those currently banned like myself, continue to appeal to come back--Eclipse provides an environment where players are free to explore the depths of role play without being RDM'd or otherwise griefed. Sure, rule breaks occur but between /report 4 or the forums, there's an option to demand accountability, and/or compensation from any loss deriving from it. Regarding @Bala, I'll never understand what motivates him to go so hard in the paint for criminal QoL and awareness of the issues affecting Eclipse. His reasoning makes sense--what's good for crims is ultimately good for cops. However he seems to also be heavily interested in improving other aspects, like clothing, faction uniforms, etc. so it's unfair to assume he's only advocating for crim content. I'm not sure on the communications or involvement he has with development, but from my understanding there's been a disconnect in the implementation of his ideas. I can't remember specifically what he wrote, but it was something along the lines of his contributions being altered or not fully introduced the way it was intended. Maybe he can shed some light on this? I'm beginning to rant so I'll finish up by addressing the real inhibitor Eclipse has: new player accommodations. For first timers the script and mechanics of the game can be overwhelming. The tutorial helps a bit, and @Osborn even recently outlined plans to overhaul the tutorial to be more encompassing and helpful. So if that sees implementation we should commend the staff team for uplifting less knowledgeable players because it will do wonders for retention.
  9. Speaking from experience in copyright infringement, there is a lot of the script that we don't see as players. The value isn't so much in the way it's optimized, but in the way it works. A potential rogue developer could easily steal the code, make aesthetic or stylistic changes, and present itself as original. Even an Eclipse knockoff would be better than any RAGE based competing server, and its existence would be an inherent threat to ECRP's interests. The concern is justified in this sense, sure it seems so simple to say it's paranoid but it's not wrong for the devs to be protective. It's intelligent property with intrinsic value. I think the only option that addresses this issue is the idea of an investor developer. An agreement that compensates the developers for the code upfront, and in return allows the third party investor an interest in the project. The current devs would retain rights as 1/3 interest, with options to buy out one or more of the other parties if desired. There would be people interested in doing that deal, but they are probably content with current profits.
  10. That's ok. Just type "/do would not have much experence..." repeatedly and persistently throughout any RP. The main message however is that you are here to RP.
  11. Outside of special drop items only approved factions can request, I think PD/SD has the advantage. However when we're talking about Machine Pistols or other rare weapons, it begins to tilt towards criminals having a slight advantage. So it really depends on the availability or access of these special item drops, how often they are being accepted, etc. The Machine Pistol with the drum mag beats the hell out of any PD/SD sidearm. credit to @ImDrew
  12. One thing I would say in defense of the developers is that with updates of this magnitude, it's important to do it right. We shouldn't rush the developers because this might motivate them to release an update too early with not enough testing or trials to support compatibility. I hope that these delays are simply a result of extra precautions in the testing phase. Patience is a virtue !
  13. I thought headshots bypassed AP? I've seen clips where officers have went down with AP still intact. Here it looks like (especially with the pump) that AP absorbs even point blank headshot damage, which is absurdly unrealistic. Of course it is possible that Coral is just built different...
  14. It'd be one thing if SAJB was operational enough to support a 100% realistic reflection of this. Anyone and everyone who is charged with a crime ends up doing the time. Any appeals after only serve to receive restitution or accountability from the arresting officers, nothing can change the fact you did time for it. I think a system similar to what @Jett_Jmentioned regarding "ransacking" is an effective approach in leveling the playing field for criminals. As the severity of crimes increase, the less petty, inconsequential charges should be dropped. It's very easy to accumulate charges with the way MDC is displayed. Those bright, blue buttons are just so alluring and satisfying to press. In all seriousness, I hope @Osborn can convince PD to implement a similar policy. re:armor Why do people have loads of depleted AP vests in their safe lol, is everyone expecting an update to introduce plate carriers, or some secondary component? Y'all gone be rich if that's the case, fresh off those gun attachment refunds just in time for tax season LMAO fr tho. I hope maybe the new gun update includes new changes for armor, if even just a slight improvement. It'd be cool if AP was also available to buy for Legal Firearm Licensed citizens at Ammunation. I think they're overpriced but legal firearm buyers already pay more than black market counterparts, so there's precedent to pay a premium. For the record I am not in support of requiring police to pay for equipment, but I do think the equipment they are provided through faction loadout should be unlocked able to loot. I understand the concerns on cops being targeted for their weapons, but aren't there OOC rules against this anyway? Currently criminals avoid RP with police because there's nothing to gain. If you win, congrats, you don't go to prison. No financial incentive whatsoever. I'll say this: if LEO factions handled their own equipment like they handled evidence, there would be a much better balance, and more accountability over issued equipment. Criminals have to manage their weapons at physical locations in actual safes that are susceptible to being stolen. The server is grindy and I get why for the most part, but there's an attachment of time to every valuable weapon you have or don't have. Cooking requires a massive investment to do effectively and the only other alternative is holding labs long enough to use the tables there. That requires firepower and numbers typically. Honestly if you spend no money on guns or armor as a criminal, you're dumb. You'll be under FearRP by every swingin' dick at Labs. Chop shop would even be worse. Here's a 200k investment that I'm not gonna guard with guns. Real solid strategy Jett. I'm gonna need you to go ahead and leave your obligatory confused.
  15. I think you're good, although I've heard AMD core output is lower than its rated for. At 4.2 GHz though I don't see that being a big problem.
  16. Fair enough, but many general stores are conveniently very close to the pumps scriptly enabled. I see what you're saying though, that they're not owned by the same person so it's not intentional market manipulation. With that said I really think inactive property owners should be held accountable if their absence is reducing the realism of player experience. I remember specifically Bayview Gas was out for weeks straight, and it negatively affected the depth of RP that could occur with a functional gas station so close to the mechanic shop. Not even LSC has that. Thank you for the insight @jason
  17. We are dependent on the script because RP outside of it requires alt RP consent. Plain and simple. If we don't have the freedom to imaginatively role play outside script support, then the script should be updated to reflect that. Or we could just remove the red tape from alt RP!
  18. One easy way to improve the gas consumption process: stop tolerating gas stations being out of gas for weeks straight. Seriously, gas stations selling jerry cans but not actual gas is price gouging by way of OOC mechanisms. If the server repossesses property from house owners then they should repossess these properties if their owners are incapable of managing them. Logging in once a week to order more fuel isn't hard. If they can't do that, let someone else buy it.
  19. You don't need a toolbox to chop those parts now, no? Likely due to dealer price decline due to an oversupply from other players. Honestly man, chopping really isn't worth it. I can kind of see why the Rooks lore preaches against it. The old system wasn't any more profitable, but the RP that came from it was more interesting, and the start-up was non-existent. I thoroughly enjoy the increased engagement with the mechanics of using tools like a consaw, and being able to bring realism into the process is a nice plus. I also support the hotwiring and lockpicking changes, because it was obviously annoying not being able to park your car anywhere without fear of it being stolen. But I feel the pendulum is now on the polar opposite end, where player owned Grand Theft Auto rarely, if ever, occurs. People might break into them for valuables, but they don't waste their time stealing them anymore. The best aspect of the old chop system was the RP you received from players protecting their car, or tracking you to stop the chop. You just don't have that with chops now, and instead you fear being mobbed by a huge gang, effectively losing your investment, and profit potential. I've said before that there's more money in stealing chop shops than actually running one. And there's also less risk--you can't call the cops because your illegal business got raided. Simply put, the price is low due to IC reasons, but the system is flawed for OOC reasons.
  20. I definitely agree. I'm not against the suggestion as an idea, but there's a lot of existing manpower that would have to be in place already at the proposed expansion area. In addition, SAAA is not fully optimized yet and I think pilot RP is important to the enjoyment of Liberty City. I would have to see Cayo Perico integrated more effectively with the server before I could support the idea of Liberty City being feasible. To my knowledge most if not all of the suggestions on the Cayo Perico thread received no real implementation. RP there is limited due to aircraft access being either insanely expensive, or non-existing. Aren't there concerns on server compatibility with planes due to desync and risk of Code 0's? So Liberty City would suffer from the same circumstances afflicting Cayo Perico currently. With that said, Sebastian...
  21. What about police presence? Would there be a department of LSPD to patrol Liberty City? Or a separate faction? Lot of questions to answer before an expansion of this magnitude is implemented. I also fear the same factors preventing Cayo Perico's access to the majority of the playerbase would be present, and that's problematic.

Anakin Bringer is here to RP. Let's remember that shoot-outs are legitimate roleplay when not violating any server rules. He makes surprisingly pretty funny content, (video of you getting the bus stuck was hilarious) and positively contributes to the criminal community. He has been a staple in some of the best Faction related roleplay in my opinion during his time at BSB. Despite being unofficial, BSB produced a lot of good RP and it sucks how that same RP has become so risky with petty reports so common. I'm not saying Anakin got banned over a petty report, I'm sure staff had their reasons. But I hope he gets another chance, even if conditional. The community is sorely missing him.
  23. They were at one point but that was before my time, so I'm not sure on why they were removed. Likely due to issues with desync, or lag spiking. It kind of sucks owning a Phantom because there's no trailer attached. The Pounder at least gives some semblance of trailer immersion but still lacking in realism. I will say from experience that the game mechanics for hitched trailers is very buggy. This is based solely on how the tractor interacts with the cultivator at Osvaldon's or Paul's Farm, so take that with a grain of salt.
