    Eclipse Community,

A hot topic throughout 2021 has been to review our progressive punishment system and to become more forgiving. Initially, we did not think a change was needed as admin staff had already been encouraged to seek a deviation from our internal punishment guidelines, to issue more lenient punishments on players who had remained clean for a relatively long time. However, we've come to understand that this isn't very efficient, as it's left entirely to the judgment of the staff member on whether they should seek deviation or not, and in many cases, it has resulted in players being banned and having to go through the appeal process only to be unbanned.

So with that being said, we'd like to welcome 2022 with our very first change.

    • Punishments that are 1+ years old will be considered as such, old, and will not by default weigh into the punishment progression that we have. While 1 year may sound like a lot, it really isn't, as you do not by default get banned until you reach e.g. 6 Non-RP or 2 DM punishments, and if you manage to get this within a year, that may be an issue of your own that needs to be solved.
    • Cheating, Bug Abusing, Ban Evading, Server Advertising, Real World Trading, Harassment, Chargebacks, OOC Racism/Homophobia, and other similar severe rule punishments will not be considered as old.
    • Admin Staff will still be able to, for extreme cases, seek a deviation from established guidelines from a member of Senior Staff, to consider old punishments in the punishment weight. This could for example apply to when a player has combat logged several times or reached an absurd amount of Non-RP punishments.

Players who are currently banned will still need to appeal their bans, and any players who have been given a date to appeal will need to wait until said date. We will however take this change into account for those who submit appeals but do take note that a very extensive admin record can still affect the outcome of your appeal, but a better focus will be put on the date of the punishments.

Additionally, we will be enforcing our 5 pillars of moderation internally within the team more extensively. Our goal as server administration is not to punish players, it's to educate players. Those who aren't cooperative, those who have a great negative impact on a situation, those who deliberately break rules, and those who are unwilling to learn, are who we seek to educate through punishments. Server administration has more options to solve a situation in which a rule violation has occurred, other than punishments, such as voiding a roleplay situation, restarting a roleplay situation, or influencing a change to a roleplay situation. We'll make sure that a greater focus is put on the latter options, including through forum reports.

On an end note, I'd like to take this time to wish our community a Happy New Year! I hope you will have a safe, but pleasant entry into the new year. This year on Eclipse started very well, but admittedly, started to slow down towards the end of it. I can however foresee great things to come for 2022 as we continue to, together, strive towards becoming as perfect as we can be.

The simple answer is that we don't want people to be able to spawn a large amount of money with no effort or risk due to the lack of any counter presence. There's nothing more to add to this or discuss, it's an objectively bad thing for the entire server economy to have large amounts of money spawned like this.

Hey, this is pretty much the answer to this. Bank Robberies have the potential to generate a lot of money, and it's intended to be done with sufficient law enforcement online to be able to respond and react to the roleplay.

  3. Hello!

We're working on a system to improve our internal punishment guidelines and the type of punishment a player receives based on how old their previous punishments are. Currently, staff can and are encouraged to seek deviation to give a lesser punishment to someone who had e.g. DM #1 a year ago, so that they don't need to ban them when they are issuing DM #2. We however recognize that this isn't always being done, and relies too much on one's individual judgement - so we're working on a system that will consider certain punishments "old" after a year, and not have them weigh in by default on punishments.

We'll make an announcement once we feel comfortable implementing this. Do note that this would not affect currently banned players, as they will need to appeal their bans as per usual and those who have been given a date on their appeals will need to wait until said date.

  4. I cannot replicate any potential bugs. I have tried putting it in and taking it out of a bag, briefcase, car, dropped it on the ground, tried interacting with food and water items with the gun in my inventory & loadout, tried switching gloves whilst having the gun equipped, and then with the gun in hand, tried loading/unloading, same results on a pistol .50

    • Black Gloves - No Prints
    • Green Gloves - No Prints
    • Leather Gloves - No Prints
    • Long Black Gloves - No Prints
    • Blue Gloves - No Prints
    • Working Gloves - No Prints
    • White Gloves - No Prints
    • Fingerless Gloves - Prints

    What I can confirm:

    • SED & METRO (SWAT) uniforms come with gloves that do not actually function like scripted gloves. It leaves their prints behind unless they go back into /fl after equipping their uniform and choosing their gloves manually. This is what may confuse some officers as they will, if they don't have this knowledge, leave their prints on an item whilst they believe they have gloves on, and thus potentially and unintentionally spread misinformation.
    • Unequipping your gloves when your gun is in your loadout will not leave prints regardless of how you interact with the gun, as long as you don't drag it back into your main inventory.

As for this bug report, I'm willing to test further if you have any ideas as to how the store-bought gloves are supposedly bugged and leave prints. I don't think "I always wear gloves" is appropriate to confirm that there is in fact a bug.

    Eclipse Community,

December is upon us! December is a wonderful time of the year because this time of the year is a special time to show others you care. Players come together and show one another love and how they value each other. We as Server Staff cherish this period, as we get to see a surge of players coming together, holiday furniture going up, and events dropping in.

Like the previous two years, the weather of San Andreas is drastically changing, our map will be covered in snow and the temperatures will be reduced significantly. Last year, the December weather change proved to be a great success - the feedback from our community, and the way they adapted to the new seasonal roleplay was fantastic. This year, we come better prepared! Like last year, we'll be implementing temporary rules revolving around the weather, you can find them here:

In addition to the snow rules,

    • All NPCs around the city have been dressed up in various holiday themed clothing.

Furthermore, we're also proud that our Event Team has expanded onto the forums https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/forum/150-event-team/ which comes in good time for this period. If you'd like to see a new or even old event take place during December, then make sure that you submit an event suggestion in this new forum section, because the Event Team plans on having a lively and exciting December with many event prizes.

Let's have a fun December together!

  6. Date and time (provide timezone): 28/NOV/2021

    Character name: Samuel Osborn

Issue/bug you are reporting: Police Stingers are not working properly. Although it initially works as intended, the spiked vehicle's tires reinflates quickly and proceeds as if nothing had happened. Police Stingers are essential to PD/SD for pursuits to avoid them having to resort to other controversial tactics to end a pursuit. This is especially an issue with vehicles that handle well for the few seconds it is spiked.

Expected behavior: When a car drives over a police stinger, their tires should remain spiked and not reinflate themselves shortly after.

Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate:

    1. Obtain a Police Stinger
    2. Place the Stinger
    3. Drive over Stinger

    Vehicle license plate number*: N/A

    Overview

These rules are in effect during the period in which Eclipse Roleplay has snow enabled on the server which is normally in December to early January. The goal with these rules is to enforce semi-realistic behavior to maximize immersion during this period. Violations of these rules will be reviewed under our Non-Roleplay general rule.

    1. General Roleplay Environment
    • Players are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the snowy weather. In the event that a player wishes to roleplay e.g. a mental condition, this will be taken into consideration should it be put under staff review.
    • During the snow period, snowballs can be gathered from the ground. When the snow period ends, players are expected to put them away or remove them from their inventories.

Each situation will be reviewed and dealt with as case by case basis by staff, the examples above are not precise and there could be realistic context to someone's actions.

PzJWQVX.png Punishment: Anything from a warning, admin jail, to an indefinite ban, punished under Non-Roleplay (NRP).

    2. Vehicle Environment
    • Non-Off Road Bikes should be stored in a garage/parking lot/mors insurance during the snow period, players that must travel to these locations must do so but should do so at a slow speed.
    • Non-Off Road Vehicles should have appropriate tires applied to them or be stored in a garage/parking lot/mors insurance during the snow period. This does not apply to faction vehicles as those tires can't be changed by mechanics.
    • Players are expected to drive according to weather conditions, which means that they should not be going around at speed cap constantly.

More clarity is needed on building rules; why not just OOC limits based on property size (1g house = x, 2g = y, small property = z, etc.)

Hey, what clarity do you seek? The announcement aims to address the way players build, not the amount of furniture that is used.

Edit: As for drug tables, I don't think it's reasonable to set a script limitation, instead, we'd rather ask that players make use of the space that is given to them, and to not utilize the furniture system to create unrealistic builds in order to maximize space.

  9. For clarifications, reference to:

    Added under 8. Metagaming

    • Players should not intentionally base their actions and/or words based on how another player sounds, as their voice may not reflect their character. For example, a male character with a female voice does not automatically mean they are a trans man or vice versa.

    Removed under 14. Deathmatching

    • Players may not kill victims who have complied with a plausible demand in reasonable time unless involved in severe hostile activity against them or an ally within 3 hours.

Changed under 15. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping

    • OLD: Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with reasonable in-character motive using secluded areas. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Desert or forest areas are considered secluded but witnesses should still be considered.

    • NEW: Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with a reasonable in-character motive. Location, time of day, and realistic population should all be considered prior to a robbery. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Players should consider the risk vs reward of the robbery and utilize secluded areas where necessary to avoid witnesses.

    • OLD:
      Quote
      • Players are allowed to kidnap or to take other players hostage for only these specific reasons:
      • You have to have a roleplay reason to attack the victim in accordance with the DM rules.
      • If you attempt to commit robbery of a property, you are allowed to hold the players within that property until you have finished the robbery. An NPC is not a valid hostage.
      • All included players may not take another hostage for 1 OOC week if police are involved.
    • NEW:

      Quote
      • Players are allowed to kidnap or to take other players hostage within the context of reasonable escalation. Your escalation and reason behind the kidnapping should be able to be easily documented and explained if required by server staff. If your intention is to harm another player (e.g. injuring or killing them), then you need to refer to our DM rules. The situation can of course naturally develop into one where the player gets harmed.
      • If you attempt to commit robbery of a property, you are allowed to hold the players within that property until you have finished the robbery. An NPC is not a valid hostage.
      • All included players may not take another hostage for 1 OOC week if police are involved.

  10. Added under 7. IC and OOC Interactions

    Preface
This is not a change but rather further clarification. Where the roleplay makes sense, and where OOC consent from all parties involved exist, we do not want to limit potential roleplay. Thus we have again, but in our rules this time, clarified that racial slurs falls under digusting roleplay.  We've also further clarified that we do not tolerate any form of racism Out of Character, and depending on the context and severity of the situation, can result in a permament ban.

    Added:

    • - Usage of racial slurs is considered disgusting roleplay and all parties involved must give prior OOC consent before it can be done.
      - Usage of ethnic and/or LGBT+ related slurs is considered disgusting roleplay and all parties involved must give prior OOC consent before it can be done.
      - In addition, it must make roleplay sense for your character to want to use any racial slurs In Character.
Racism Out of Character is strictly forbidden and can result in a permanent ban.
