  1. I think this would open a lot of interesting RP scenarios. Instead of just having plain meth or LSD, now drugs can be hidden in food. When consumed, there may be a random (maybe 50% chance) /do text saying that there's something strange taste, or texture in the food, and the person consuming can choose to stop or continue. If that person choose to continue, then the effect of the drug is applied. We can have drug lord disguised as a taco truck driver. We can have large shipments of drug disguised as food truck. Player A can give player B this "drugged" food so A could sell the drugs to B when B is addicted. For PD RP, there should be an option to examine the food. Each drug should have different probability to be discovered. And examine it will take some time (IRL you can't look at a hamburger and know instantly that it is drugged). I don't think this would harm the server in anyway. Let me know your thoughts.
  2. You guys are ignorant af. If you plan to comment without reading the post first why even bother commenting on the post? This is clearly a scam. I pay extra, you receive what you want, but you don't want to do that in a legitimate way. In real life there are a lot more paperwork to do than just one or two simple commands. OP has a point. Make a contract or something like that to be signed by both people, and tax on that to ensure safety. Like trading in borderlands 2 or some other games. Fee on high end is fine, but don't tax it if the price is lower than the market value for the car. If you sell it for profit, then tax on the capital gain.
  3. +1 on mileage system. Make sport or super cars cheaper if it has mileage of 10k miles or more. And after 100k miles or more, cars will be harder to start and there will be random stalling. This could make car market really interesting. But what I like best about this idea is that it will upset super car owner aka rich people.
  4. Such dedication. By the way, did you buy all walking styles?
  5. I think Osborn's suggestion are better. You should have option upon death and RP it accordingly. Hours of grinding in game cannot simply be deleted by some kids that leave the server tomorrow. I could totally kill someone and leave the server. That's just unfair. After all, it's just a game. You come here to relax and RP with people. You don't come here to create a second Earth.
  6. +1 if you ban someone at least it should be something publicly available in the rulebook. The same things goes for real life stuff as you can use loophole to bypass the law. Reading the comments, if Eclipse staff actually banned someone because he's AFK and it's not in the rulebook, it's Eclipse's fault
  7. As usual, criminals downvote whatever is bad for them. Remember in real life, rarely any criminals wear body armor. The fact that this server allows felon to buy body armor is something that doesn't make sense. Also criminals now don't get extra charges for using body armor against the police is such a huge benefit to criminal.
  8. There are some suggestion to adjustment to body armor. One of them suggest adjustment to body armor for criminal. I don't totally agree it, since we can see that irl, rarely any criminals wear bulletproof vest. Here's US law regarding body armor. Here's my suggestion to body armor: 1) Make people who want to possess body armor to apply for the permit, just like gun permit. You can only buy body armor if you don't have recent criminal charges. You can still own it though but it's illegal and will be punishable if wearing without permit. It's also illegal when committing a crime and wearing body armor (as suggested by the law above). Make it purely self defense. 2) Lower the price of body armor (as suggested by many threads here). Price suggested would be from 2k-5k maximum. Now you solve the problem of criminal wearing body armor freely, so lowering the price makes total sense. No body armor should be more expensive than a low end sport car. 3) (Optional) Make it traceable, since criminal can obtain it illegally. If criminals get caught while wearing it, the seller will get a punishment to for illegal distribution of body armor, just like gun. More RP for the criminal, more RP for the police, safer and cheaper for law abiding citizen, closer to real life's regulation, so why not?
  9. A decent idea. Don't know how it benefits the server as a whole except for a little bit increase in RP experience. And fyi, phone irl is not waterproof, just water resistant. If you submerge phone at 1.5 meters deep and more than 30 minutes, it will become unusable. Implementation wise, what do you mean by going into the water? Is the water level above feet, belly, or head to be considered going into the water? I can put my phone over my head and it will not get wet even though im 2/3 under water. I swim IRL and can float and move around with 1 hand up in the air. Don't misunderstand me, it's a good idea, but among all other good suggestions that directly improve server quality, I can't think of any situation that would put this on top of the priority list.
  10. Leveling system is suggested here: It received a lot of +1 but idk if staffs even consider implementing it
  11. +1 I think most people do criminal activities because legal job is too boring/shitty pay. If somehow dev could add depth to each jobs, and make people grind to earn money, then I think civilian RP experience could be much better. Saw NBDY's photo in #development, I think it would be a really good idea if truckers are the one who transport cars to each vehicle dealership. And vehicle dealership won't get any cars if there are no truckers to do the job.
  12. This can be a good idea if donator's application has a really high entry point. For example if you donate 200-500$ you can jump straight on top of the queue. This greatly reduces the number of people who is in the VIP queue. Who thinks this is a bad idea just ask yourself: "Am I willing to pay 500 bucks just to be reviewed faster even though I got a 50% chance of getting denied?"
  13. Hey I didn't say the newbie channel forbids asking question. Just a separate one though, one for newcomers want to ask stuff they don't know about the server, another one for in game related stuff
  14. Title. Sometimes I want to ask stuff related to the game but usually my question is flooded with other questions like the date and time the application is at, how many apps in the queue, how long do I have to wait, etc. There should be a channel called "Introduce yourself" or something like that for applicants, and a separate one for approved member. Approved member can participate in "Introduce yourself" channel, but applicant can't participate in the support channel for approved member (They might read the chat but they can't send anything).
  15. +1 You guys talking like Eclipse RP simulates the world's economy. Inflation works in real life, not in this server. Everything happens around supply/demand. Supply is unlimited. Demand is limited. Lower the price makes sense here. Inflation will work if the server reaches another RP level, which is really hard to obtain. We need to have people who makes taco, burger, factories to make drinks to supply food. And resource for those should come from farmer, another factory. Other stuff like cars and gas needs to be imported from the dock by trucker. No trucker means no transporter. So we need everything to support each other just like in real life. Product from one industry should depend on supply from other industry. And the amount of product should reflect the demand of the people. The only one thing Eclipse RP simulates real life's economy is super car market. There's limited supply while demands are increasing. Increase salary for everyone makes money loses its value, which makes price of super car goes even higher. That's inflation, too much and it's bad for the economy. For people who gives -1, just because you know what's inflation doesn't make it work for every situation. Increasing salary, however, does not work because it makes the player becomes lazy. I made a suggestion to create job tier here: Want to make big money? Grind to earn it
  16. This. How you phrase each question is what make multiple choice super effective to expose your weakness. Doing application can make the staff busy all year round. However, if application is done as multiple choice, we can dedicate staff to change the application 3 months or 6 months each. The hardest time is to write the question at the beginning. After that you can just paraphrase to prevent googling. This process maybe takes 2-5 days maximum.
  17. Prove the current application has good quality. Like I said above, 8 out of 10 questions are from the rule book, and paraphrasing is simple stuff. The last 2 scenarios, imo, are good questions. It's not enough though. To answer 50 to 60 multiple choice questions requires a lot more comprehensive knowledge. You are expected to know almost everything. To prove my point, you can just go to report section in this forum and see how people states the wrong rule in the report. Leaked answer? Like I said we can have a bank of questions and all kind of variables we can change to prevent that. Multiple choice is not bad. Just look at how university and high school exam are testing using multiple choice questions to test your comprehensive knowledge (of course I know written exam has some benefits too). Random will get you on average 25%.

    Legal job tier

Looking at SAMP, I think it's a good idea if you provide tier for trucker or courier or other legal jobs. The longer you have been in one job, the more experience you have, which leads to special mission or rewards for people who grinds hard. Each job when reached max level can provide certain perk/benefit related to that job.
  19. And remember there's a lot of variables we can change here. Number of questions, wait time between each round, difficulty of each round, number of questions to test. If we put wait time to 1 day, is someone who's cheating willing enough to wait 1 day to see only the number of correct answer? (just saying). We can always restrict one app per IP address per day. But that will complicate the code for devs. Except for the last 2 questions on written part about scenario, first eight is straight from the rule book. Paraphrasing is high school stuff. I read some reports on here, some people playing the game don't even know the difference between meta gaming and power gaming. I don't blame the question, it's just not always effective from what I've seen.
  20. I'm aware of that. That's why we have a bank of questions, so none will take the exact same quiz each time. Trying multiple time will waste the person who write the answer a lot of time, since you have to wait between each round before knowing the score. Correct answer will not be given. To be honest. I tried to pass the test with 100%, so I tried to find answer to one multiple choice question online. There's nothing I could find. About the part where you mentioned understanding the rule with multiple choice question. It's totally doable, given that you know how to phrase the question and answer in a way such that it exposes everything you should know. Look at your physics, chemistry, or other social science test. It's multiple choice. You don't know the correct answer if you don't do the homework.
  21. (*) Skip the paragraph right after this one if you don't want to read the math. As I see it now, the application process is not effective. Just look at the concurrent number of player at anytime, it rarely goes past 400. From the time I applied for the server about 3 weeks ago until now, I checked the number of player almost everyday, and it rarely increases. Let's say one day quiz team finishes 300 apps. About 50% gets in (don't know the stat so don't quote me), which is 150 people get in. Assume 10% of those people can play everyday, which means that we should see an increase of 15 players per day. Let just assume about two thirds of those people playing for the hype and stops after a day, so we should still have 5 players increasing a day (really low for 150 people getting accepted), which is 105 players increasing in 3 weeks. So number of player should increase from 300 to 400 after 3 weeks, which (kinda) makes sense because of my math, but empirically it shows otherwise. The number of player stays the same. The system now takes around 3-4 weeks for a new player to get accepted. The wait is long, and even longer for people who waits a month just to get a denied email. In those time, people who applied might already find another server X, and starts there. Staff reviews application for nothing. Waste time for both applicants and the staff. I want to make Eclipse a great server and everyone in GTA RP community knows about it, but still preserves quality. Here's my proposal. ((Proposal starts)) Remove the part where you have to write short answers. At the same time increase the number of multiple choice question, make it last for several rounds. Here's an example. Let's say we have a bank of questions ranging from basic knowledge to RP-ready knowledge. Pick a set in the bank of question and rotates so it is not the same every time. Let's say we have a set of 60 multiple choice questions. And we want it to last 4 rounds: Round 1: First round consists of 15 easy questions about the server. You have to pass with at least 14/15 questions to advance, and you don't know the result until 4-6 hours later (to prevent people just applying to troll, or apply with different account in case of failing the quiz). Round 2: This round will have 15 questions about basic commands in game. Also have to pass with 14/15 questions. Same wait time applies here. Failing this round makes you redo the first round. Passing this round create a checkpoint, which if you fail round 3 or 4, you will start at round 3, not round 1. Round 3: Also 15 questions about the rules of the game: meta gaming, power gaming, OOC, IC rules, etc. We can be lenient here and makes it so that they can pass with 13/15. Failing this round reset you back to the checkpoint. Same wait time applies. Round 4: Last 15 questions about some real RP situation and how to behave in each. Pass with 12/15 (situation is always hard because there can be a thousand outcomes). Fail this round resets you back to the start of round 3 (learn the rule first before knowing what rules applied in each situation). Wait time can be applied here too. If they can pass all 4 rounds, they deserved to be in Eclipse. Advantages: +) Doesn't waste staff time, so they can help with in game reports or stuff in game. (Everyone wants to play ikr). +) Significantly reduce wait time for applicants. If we follow the wait time like above, there are 4 rounds, and they need to wait at least 16-24 hours to complete an application provided that they could complete all 14/15 questions correct. This means on average, the wait time is from 1 to 3 days depends on the applicant. How easy it is to get into an elite server. +) 4 rounds consist of 50-60 multiple choice questions will cover more knowledge than 10 questions straight from the rule book. It's easy to copy and paraphrase, harder to actually think and pick the correct answer. +) Increase our server size, also quality because of the point above. Disadvantages: (It will be a biased proposal if I don't list disadvantages here) +) The time it takes to make those questions. Believe me, the upfront cost is high, but in long term, you don't even have to read boring answers and such. +) Change code to adapt to this new system. Easy. I'm a software developer myself. What we need to do is remove the code for written part and copy and paste the code for multiple choice part to make it to choose from our bank of questions. And somehow figures a way to add the wait time between rounds. TL/DR: Proposal for a new system of application. Reduce wait time for applicant (from 3 weeks - 1 month to 1 - 3 days). Reducing wait time while improving the knowledge of new player. This has benefits for current players (more populated server), staff (more time to spend in game), new player (less wait time), and server quality (increasing knowledge of new player). P/s: Read TL/DR if you don't have time. Read advantages and disadvantages if you wants to know upsides and downsides of this system. Read from ((Proposal starts)) if you want to see how the system is implemented. Read everything to see why I have to write these. P/ss: Criticism is welcomed. But let it be constructive criticism. Don't just throw a -1 in here. Let us all contribute one way or another to Eclipse. Let's make Eclipse RP great again. ((/me drops mic))
  22. +1 reduce ticket fee for new player. We should have a system where ticket fee increases for each ticket given. For new player being slapped 2000$ ticket is not fun at all. We still have to learn about all the NCZ locations and get familiar with those first.
