PETITION: FREE MAYORAL ELECTIONS 2019

 

INFORMATION:

On January 30th 2019, the "Board of Commissioners" of the San Andreas State Government has announced the opening of the Mayor's Office and the first round of Mayoral Elections in their first LS State Government press release, following the grand opening of City Hall.

 

The year is almost over. Taxation and mandatory licensing has increased, yet the representation by our government is non-existant. The citizen of Los Santos currently involuntarily pays into a system that does not guarantee them accountability of elected representatives and government staff, nor does it guarantee them the ability to find representation in the court of law, nor does it guarantee him the right to change legislation through democratic means.

 

DEMANDS:

We, the people of Los Santos, therefore demand free, democratic mayoral elections to appoint a leader to our government. This leader shall be equipped with the ability to structure their own independent (from the state & federal government) cabinet and government departments to facilitate all Los Santos government resources, without exception, for the improvement and proper management of our city and the whole region. The people of Los Santos and their representatives shall be equipped with the right to implement and make changes to existing legislation through democratic means and petition.

 

This free election shall take place no later than four (4) weeks after submission of this petition, shall the popular vote demand it.

Comment: The current government is doing a piss poor job of protecting its legitimate hard working citizens from criminal elements. The lack of affordable temporary housing for people who have just arrived to the city is something that needs to be addressed too.

Comment: Currently the citizens of Los Santos and the greater Blaine county have no rights.

The police are free to arrest, detain, and pass judgment without evidence in a system that is guilty until proven innocent rather then the other way around. There is no due process in this state whatsoever and it is absurd.

We need a real judicial system, one that protects the rights of citizens and a government with the ability to allocate funds to that system as well as a more robust system of civil laws to prevent the exploitation of its citizens.

One recent example would be the recent rise in firearms prices within the city from "legitimate" retailers. They all got together and negotiated that they would all raise prices together to raise profits. This group coming together to take part in this form of price fixing is called a cartel, and there are reasons why in most jurisdictions this is illegal.
