LEO's should be utilising their resources, they have; Tazers, Melee Weapons, roleplay, Forceful Commands and of course, Firearms. Firearms should be (in my opinion) the last option to use. Afaik, the cuffing whilst stunned has been fixed to where you can now do that. Should you not be able to do that, roleplay with the suspect, it is their responsibility to respond to this roleplay realistically, if they don't then a report can be made for refusal to roleplay. I have witnessed many cops not actually using the recourses they have available to them and instead over-tazing suspects and just complaining about it. Please please please just look at this from a broader perspective and actually understand the reasoning behind this change. Oh I don't disagree with you at all. Well over a year ago I was still saying Leo uses the taser as an I win button when they removed the nonrp rule of not roleplaying the effects of a taser. From thousands of hours of experience as a crim, working all the way through to be high command of an official faction, and now 8 months in at LSSD about to become GND, I've seen just about every way a situation can go. This whole thread was started to get a discussion going about the concept of rule playing, and how fearRP works and is used my Law enforcement. I just know there is going to be more situations that this thread was started for now that the taser was heavily nerfed. Quote
DaddyShrood Posted July 22, 2025 Report Posted July 22, 2025 The taser definitely needed a rework however the new system is ultimately just going to promote people to use a firearm. IMO we should have changed the taser to mimic how the Taser X2 works irl. You have 2 shots, then you have to reload to get another 2 shots. This allows for tasers to be used where necessary but doesn't put cops in the position of forgetting to retrieve their taser again after using it twice and ultimately resorting to a firearm. Quote
CKari Posted July 22, 2025 Report Posted July 22, 2025 I've played 2 years of LEO, 3 years of crim, and a year of DOC. I think I'm good to speak on both sides here. I'm just going to say that in the beginning staff is going to be absolutely flooded with DM reports from crims and FRP/NRP reports from LEOs. In my time in PD, SD, and especially DOC I would say approximately 1/3 of criminals either ignore the first 10 tazes, do a "/me resists" at any attempt of physical RP, or just run away while you're typing. Because of this with the limit on tazers a lot of people are going to end up downed either by bullets or batons. As a crim I'm stoked that cops won't necessarily resort to immediate tazers and we might get more chances to RP. But that's just it - everyone needs to RP. I'm all for the tazer nerf but everyone needs to follow the rules and actually roleplay appropriately. The play to win mentality a lot of people have is not going to work well with the tazer nerf. I think staff is going to need to be tough on people and set precedences or else I can see things getting out of control on both sides. That's my two cents. 1 Quote
