Blocking one-way entry/exits

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I would love to ask about one specific rule on ECRP that stands in title... the full text of the rule is :
Non-Roleplay behavior is considered as actions that are unrealistic or promote poor quality roleplay. It's difficult to interpret or understand what good roleplay can be sometimes, and we aim to steer players in the direction we want them to go through our server rules. Players are welcome to speak to staff for guidance in regard to roleplay. Some examples (not exhaustive) of Non-RP:

  • Using a vehicle to block one-way entry/exits of e.g., banks and stores.

In this rule there is bank and store used as and example... so when I asked people to save POV for blockin one-way exit, I almost every time got the same answer: "Its not a bank or store".

So are players able to block entries to for example chili lab or a bridge that goes to sea labs, since there is no other exit?

Thanks a lot to all of you for reading this 😇

E.g. means example, it's not just those two options. Also keep in mind that even if you're not in an off-road designated vehicle, doesn't mean you have to strictly stick to marked roads. If you have no option you just make a path, as long as you're not scaling steep terrain/cliffs with non off-road vehicles.

At least thats my take on the rule.

You can't block areas where there is literally no other option, but there are many options in an out of labs, on foot, off-road, or up steep terrain if your vehicle is allowed to do so.

Hello!

The reason why this part of Non-RP only addresses doors for e.g. banks and stores is due to how doors work in GTA. In GTA, players can only walk through doors (push them open) from either side, but not pull them open. If a player would block an entry/exit point, the other player wouldn't have the option to pull the door open to actually escape due to how doors function in GTA.
Hope this clarifies some stuff!

This rule works where there is only one exit where you otherwise could realistically exit through other means (e.g. breaking a window). Primarily for stores and banks where it was an issue.

It is not intended for e.g. labs as you can still run away on foot should someone block the entrance and you have no off-road vehicle to scale the mountain. So in that sense, these areas are not "one-way entry/exit, they are multiple entries and exits but you may have to adapt to the equipment you are using.

Again, common sense rule applies when it comes to being "blocked" at a lab. every case is different.

If youre in a sportscar, ideally you would stick to roadways in and out of areas like labs, however if those roadways are blocked and youre under threat of immeadiate harm, its reasonable for your character to sacrifice what would be significant expensive damage to their car in order to offroad a little to get clear of danger.

Note that this does not give you permission to hillclimb or go over exceedingly rough terrain for an extended period of time, as this would mangle the underfloor of your car, bottom it out or otherwise make it undrivable. it should only be as a last resort, if all roads are truly blocked and for only as long as it takes you to get back onto a road.

A positive example would be the likes of driving a little offroad at say, sealab if someones trying to block you from leaving on the approach along the cliff, getting round them before returning to the road. a negative example would be blasting it over the hill behind hole in the wall because the bridge is blocked in.
