Jett_J Posted February 14, 2022 Report Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) There should be purchasable repair kits that allow people to fixup stalled out cars. These kits could be purchased either from Bayview/LSC directly or just have them sold in any ordinary store. The kits could only be used if no mechanics are on duty. They could repair the car to ~350 health giving the person the ability to drive to the mechanics to get it fixed fully. The usage of these kits should have a timer just like many other things do in the server and they would be one time use. Too often there are broken down cars and bikes in the middle of the road or just broken down in random places and they will stay there for days on end. The current status of the mechanic factions right now aren't able to support the demand at which they are needed. At the time of this post, there are 65 players in the bayview and LSC faction combined and many of those who don't actually work the shop and do stuff to run the faction behind the scenes. I don't think this change would have any negative effects on the mechanic factions because they would only be able to be used if no mechanics are working. Some might argue that an ordinary person wouldn't have the knowledge to fix their car, but thats why I think the repair kits should only fix the car to ~350 hp because not everyone would be able to actually fully repair a car. Additional Note: RP would have to be required before using the repair kit just like /cpr command etc. This would help with immersion. If your character wouldn't know anything about fixing cars, you could RP pulling out a repair manual from your car or the repair kit itself and then RP following the instructions on the repair manual. olivern389 Posted February 15, 2022 Report Posted February 15, 2022 +/- it can be a useful implementation only if the repair kit fixes the vehicle to a certain amount of oil because an excessive amount would not make sense and not be as realistic. at the same time even though there isn't mechanics on duty at times it's the exact same thing IRL there will be points where a mechanic cannot get to you due to the time or location itself. also, the repair kit should fix the vehicle but the vehicle should only run for a certain amount of time, as it would be with any quick repair in real life such as placing a spare tyre onto a vehicle it will not run for long due to its lifespan and the speeds it can only drive at.
Kjaer Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 This topic has been posted numerous times -- a reminder to search for the topic you are suggesting before posting it. That being said I am going to paste my reply from a different thread here as well. Quote +/- What I would get behind is an "Emergency Repair Kit" or something of that flavor, where if a players car health is within 250-299 or even 275-299 it will allow players to restore their car +50 or +25 points depending on if the prior limit is 250 or 275. The logic behind this being that if you're repairing a car below those amount it is likely totaled and you shouldn't be able to repair it with a convenience kit. Even with the above withstanding a player could technically get his car down from 1000 to 275 in a single hit, where his car would be totalled and then still be able to use the kit so I think this will be abused to repair cars that shouldn't be RP'ly repaired roadside with a convenience kit. To fight this the server would have to keep track of the allotted damage for the current spawn of the vehicle (not sure if this is already done or not) and then decide if there's too much allotted damage to repair it with a kit.

I wanted to make my own post regarding it because it doesn't seem we are getting a thumbs up or down from the dev team and I wanted to make a post with the way I would want it to be implemented rather than just a reply. 1
