  2. The main problem right now is that it is easier to take your opposition out in a forum report as opposed to taking your opposition out over an RP scenario over time. If someone is malicious and wants to take out their opposing gang, all they have to do is continue posting forum reports until one of them gets accepted. Literally find a weak point in the armor and then boom. They're going to be severely crippled.

Our current rules do NOT support conflict. Which is not how things should be. Conflict can be insanely good for a server/community. If you continue spamming DM reports on an opposing member, eventually one will go through and two possible scenarios will happen:

    1. They get banned for their second DM punishment.

    2. They get their first DM punishment which will lead them to playing the game completely different for the rest of their time on the server.

Conflict should be natural and should flow naturally. A couple of days ago, Almost an entire gang was punished for opening fire at someone that ran their leader over. Accident or not, it should never have gone to the forums. The person reporting was apart of the opposing gang and knew that an active chase/ambush was happening. They accidentally ran over the leader of an opposing force and got shot. Thats completely IC and his own fault ICly. Yet it was taken to the forums and got accepted and an entire gang has been deleted from the server just like that.

I personally have forum reported people like 3 times total over the course of my entire tenure on this server. Anything can be solved IC. The whole report-to-win mentality is ridiculous.

"Playing to win" always carries such a bad reputation. Yet everyone wants their character to succeed no? Yeah some people have their niche personality-type characters which involve them just having fun. Other people though, get their fun from their character succeeding. In the end EVERYONE wants to have fun no?

Sure, play to win, play a hardcore gangster etc. Just don't complain when you eventually get caught or get killed and lose everything.

When the community stops relying so much on forum reports to take their opposition out, then the community will be in a stable place.

With current DM rules, someone screaming slurs isn't enough to sock them in the mouth as far as I can tell.

    • Deathmatching is the act of attacking a player without a proper IC motive and interaction.

    1. Motive: He's insulting you screaming derogatory words at you. Interaction: Berating you and chatting shit

    • Players may not kill victims who have complied with a plausible demand in reasonable time unless involved in severe hostile activity against them or an ally within 3 hours.

    2. Demands: Tell him to shut up or get checked up. If he fails to listen he is not complying with demands.

    • Players must be able to explain their reason and provide proof of prior reasoning if requested.

    3. Explanation: "He was insulting me and berating me. I told him to shut up and he didnt."

This entire post is extremely confusing and flip floppy. Most of this forum discusses how screaming slurs at randoms in public places isn't realistic what so ever and is someone's "OOC behavior". I hate the "waah snowflakes" argument, just because we let everyone scream slurs at eachother in Xbox Live doesn't mean we have to here.

Why not? We're trying to emulate realism to an extent? I can go out and scream slurs. You know what will happen? Someone's gonna g-check my ass and punch me in the mouth.

If someones screaming slurs in game in public, Someone can walk up and handle their shit ICly.

    Separate IC and OOC.

At the end of the day, we're playing an 18+ game, so you can control what you say to other people or at least be held accountable for it.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm seeing some really ignorant opinions on this. Just because it doesn't personally effect you, doesn't mean that it's right. By all means, disagree with restricting the use of these slurs but the "its the internet" point of view doesn't really wash in 2021.

Yes, we are playing an 18+ game. Regardless of what age is playing the video game designed to be 18+, It is their responsibility to accept that. It is not up to the majority to provide a safe environment for people that are overly sensitive to comments or behaviors. So yes, hold people accountable. Hold them accountable for their OOC behavior not their IC behavior.

I find a lot of things people do or say to be ignorant. The thing is, it is their choice to act like that and their choice to behave the way they do. Maybe they were not raised correctly, maybe they have some internal struggles going on. Regardless, at the end of the day. Its the internet as you said, the timeline is irrelevant, whether its 2021 or 2008. Its still a cesspool of races, gender, people, backgrounds.

I by no means consider myself sensitive or soft. Yet sometimes I'll stumble upon things that I find disgusting or offensive. If I'm exploring the internet and I see something that I dislike or disgusting then I click out. Simple as that. If people cant distinguish the fact they're playing a video game then we have issues. It's the same type of people that cannot distinguish someones IC character v. Their OOC character. (Which is another huge issue on its own).

Growing up playing xbox live throughout my youth and playing these same 18+ mature rated games. My parents were aware of what they were signing me up for when it came to buying me these games. I did too and honestly, words don't even affect me at this point.

We tailor things to the people with no backbone or spine, we tailor things to people that are soft and can't hold their own. Nobody is responsible for making someone else feel "comfortable". Yes we're a gaming community and yes we have OOC regulations on OOC behavior. Sure, rules are rules.

If we're talking about /characters/ that people are playing. Yes CHARACTERS. Let them act like a dickhead if they want to ICly, they will suffer the IC repercussions that come with it.

+1 I have never used derogatory slurs or even felt the need so I wouldn’t mind the implementation of this rule. I think it’s important to accommodate all types of players to just generally be kind, and that does mean being mindful of what you say when interacting with others. If two people have interacted before and know they are comfortable with its use, then go ahead! If not, there are loads of different ways to have hostile interactions without the use of derogatory slurs.. 🙂

  7. The main problem is that the only realistic outcomes that are possible are:

    1. The cops give free passage, IF the hostage takers all leave at once. Ending the threat on the hostage.

    2. The cops rush in and kill the hostage takers because the hostage takers don't understand the concept of how preserving the life of a hostage works in their favor.

In no realistic scenario would a law enforcement officer, public official, military personnel, allow half of the hostage takers to leave yet to allow the rest of the hostage takers maintain an active threat on the hostage. The same way as no logically thinking criminal would want to remain in the bank while their friends escape.

The main goal of both sides is to successfully prevent ANY loss of life. The hostage takers would never actually risk shooting the hostage as that allows the cops to just run in and arrest them or worse, kill them. The police will never allow anyone to stay behind with the hostage as they have no way of confirming the safety OF the hostage because the suspect is crazy enough to stay behind.

A hostage will NEVER secure you a free escape. What a hostage CAN do is provide you leverage and put you at an advantage to escape the bank without instantly being shot. Your best chances are giving up the hostage in exchange for free passage away from the bank and then planning a pursuit escape path. Bank robberies should be planned with steps in advance. Like XQC on his streams, having boats ready, other cars in stashed locations, etc. The problem is that people just want to go in, get free cash and leave. They don't actually want to plan a real escape. Its lazy and just provides nothing but a smash and grab or a hostage situation that turns into a bloodbath.

You are incorrect. The drop that was comped this morning Irish also got the message at the same time. Since you don't seem to understand I'll give you a timeline of events this morning.

ClankH. It's not only you but a lot of people here are acting like they know exactly how everything works and they developed the script that controls this. I'm just asking to be a little more humble and not act like your word/opinion is fact...

Thats ironic considering SD and PD interrogated an NPC and didn't use a message?

    5.  We watch PD taunt us and "thank us" for the drop. I don't understand how they enjoy rolling up, setting up and then just driving to SD to store it. No RP interaction at all besides picking up a crate and taunting.

We were setup there for literally an hour. Plenty of time for retaliation, plenty of time to gather up forces and try to take your drop back. The fact is you guys did nothing but circle us, Drive up to our units say slick comments and then continue circling us.

You knew it was compromised, you saw us there for an HOUR sitting there.

I don't understand what more of an interaction you would like from us? Would you like us to sit there and jerk off inspecting the contents of the crate? We took the shit and left. You guys had an hour to do something and you chose not to.

When we did it to Irish, They set up, attacked PD and SD, grabbed the crates and moved on. We had over 30 SD/PD waiting in that situation with irish and they won because they hit it quick, they hit it hard and then they left just as fast before PD could regroup.

After seeing 6+ compromised drops in the past 3 weeks alone, 1 compromised not even an hour after the other. I believe it should be changed, why should all crim factions get a notification if a single officer interrogates the NPC likewise with PD being notified if a crim interrogates the NPC

When an illegal faction compromises the drop of another illegal faction, PD does not get notified and vice versa.

I believe you should learn about the system before you speak. PD was informed of a drop this morning, I can guarantee you that no other criminal organization did.

    • I believe the current system works like this. Someone interrogates the black market dealer. If successful the dealer frequently tells ALL the official illegal factions along with PD and SD. This doesn't make sense. It should only tell the faction that is interrogating the dealer. I also heard that the Irish shipment NPC leaked THEIR OWN drop to their own gang. I believe there may be some bugs in the system and it's negatively affecting the server.
    • As far as I know there is also a chance that PD will get notified of the drops separate of the other illegal factions. This I believe is okay, but I do not think they should get the info when an illegal faction member interrogates a shipment dealer. It makes no RP sense that they would get the info out of thin air. I believe it should be changed so that only the gang that interrogates the dealer gets the information.

Interrogating an NPC from PD/SDs side is a 2.5% chance of success. We rarely get drop information.

The chances of us being INFORMED by the server of a drop without us having to interrogate is an even lesser chance.

We had a 3 month dry streak if not longer of going to a single compromised drop location.

There are some things which need changing. When PD gets notified for a drop there is no way of stopping them unless you have a lot of numbers causing you to lose whatever you ordered which can sometimes be 300k+. Some people will say criminals are not meant to win against PD which is correct and Criminals have a win mentality  but on the other hand this is the type of people who say that. https://streamable.com/7h6hor

I just feel like criminals should have at least a chance with the police because at the moment when our drop gets comped 20+ officers show up all with full body armour, carbines, insurgents giving criminals 0% chance of getting the drop. Just feels more like an OOC punishment than an IC one.

i dont know if you know this but the chance of pd or sd being informed of a drop is 2.5%

I do want to say that Revelt when you were in FSO you always gave the best of RP that you could to every situation so you are right in saying that. When I say what I say it is broad strokes over the whole of the criminal community and not aimed at any single individual or group.

I also want to say I understand what you are saying Bobby. I just think there is a fundamental misunderstanding as to how criminal rp is supposed to work (from pretty much everyone) and its either a willful misunderstanding or just misinformed.

The video that you share - yes that would fly in Mexico. That would never ever ever EVER fly in the United States. We may have seedy areas and places the cops know not to go (or are bribed to leave alone) ((there should be more availability for that sort of bribery and corruption rp imo - IRL criminals who which cops are a little more weak for the cash versus the cops that would just knock em out and drag em in for trying)) If any group or cartel tried to pull that on American soil they would all be dead or imprisoned very quick. We understand that Los Santos is not Los Angeles but it certainly is intended to be an American city. A group trying to operate like that in America would not last very long. That is why our largest gangs here either are street gangs or operate off the radar or primarily in prison systems.

Again I use FSO & Triads as examples because its my experience it is not to paint them as some sort of moral champion or anything. I don't use factions that I have not been a part of because its simple - I don't know them. We had plenty of issues with cops at the beginning and then we adjusted. We worked on a system that we found worked IRL for the Yakuza which included a lot of community work and playing towards an attitude of 'see all the good that we do now turn a blind eye to the bad, better we handle the bad then you risk your cop lives' this was intentional rp that slowed down our PD interactions GREATLY. The only intentional RP that I saw other groups do like this was for example Rooks going under the radar, LFM towards the end dropping colors and going under the radar. Going under the radar isn't a permanent solution but it gives you the time to think up how you can rply get to where you want to be. FSO couldn't just put up a huge sign outside the noodle house and be like 'We are a chinese syndicate and the cops let us be because we are rply stronger than them and we take care of the criminals for them' Our goal was to be left alone by cops so we strategized how to get there and rply worked our way towards that goal. Did I still get pulled over by Steel a lot? Yes, till I stopped letting him catch me lacking. We had a meeting EVERY single week at the same time where we had most of our members packing. And our meeting got raided once maybe two times. A criminal organization is never going to reach 0 conflict with PD but it can be greatly mitigated through RP action.

Anyway's that was long winded and as I get to the end of it I see that my main point is this: PD are an IC problem that have IC methods to address that are successful when used.

What PD is not: the reason criminal rp is in such a tumultuous state.

What is? The crackdown and over management of the types of RP that criminals can engage in. Why is there such a crackdown though? because historically and up until present criminals cannot be trusted to manage themselves to play in a way that is fair to other players (other criminals included).

Until gangs can operate without this OOC toxicity, this ridiculous NEED to win and push any rival out of the city, and this mindset that you have to be the biggest, the baddest, the top gang in the city it wont change. (again that is not pointed at any one gang but at us all)

    • Why is there such a toxic report mentality every time there is a war? Don't pretend its righteous anger - its because reporting the other side and them getting punished feeds into the ridiculous need to win. There is this ridiculous pride I see some people tout when they go "haha look I got so and so banned"
    • Why is there always a huge war after someone gets official? we always say that its "rp led us here" - no, its because another gang on top threatens our ability to be the biggest, baddest, top gang and that threatens our ability to win. Doesn't matter if we've been allies for the past X amount of time, or that they helped us in the last war - now they are a threat! So the only answer is that they have to be pushed out of the city so that we can loudly say 'SEE! X gang won and X gang LOST"

Sometimes we just need to take a look in a mirror and remind ourselves 'its a freaking game' and move on. If this is how you enjoy playing games with toxicity like this let me recommend RUST. This is supposed to be roleplay - storytelling that is accessible for everyone. How is it in the best interest of the server to lose a whole gang work of criminal rpers because we felt some need to push them out? We are all on the same boat here trying to help create a server that is fun for us all but our actions actively damage the diversity of role players, the quality of immersion and stories that can be told, and our leeway to work with staff to improve things. We are simple too focused on winning. Well I have bad news - in roleplay games there are no winners. The story takes first seat to us all.

No one wants to confront that tho - its easier to go on and on about PD v Crim.

    ---

    Actual Suggestions:

    • (y'all gon hate this one) I personally think that an answer to this is smaller gangs but more gangs. Most servers cap criminal activities at less than 10 people involved. Imagine if we did 20. Imagine how many different groups there would be. Imagine dynamic RP that would flow from all those groups and relations and such.
    • Limit the amount of large cartels/syndicates. Street gangs needed. The official gangs already work under a 'cartel' no city needs 5+ cartels/syndicates. Its also very weird to reconcile ICly. For example why is FSO working for a Hispanic cartel but has ties to a huge Chinese syndicate. Would they not just use those closer connections? I think that either all criminal organizations should have to be rply "smaller" than LFB OR  allow groups to RP "cartel connections" with a group of their choosing. [ex. Irish w/ the IRA, FSO w/ the Triads, LFM/Aztecas w/ Mexican Cartel] to make more RP sense. Any city with 5 cartels is going to have national guard levels of policing that's just ridiculous.

The most well written and most true response to any of these kind of threads. Impressive work and honestly preaching the truth. Hopefully people look and read through your reply and see some kind of mindset change.

and Is these characters Randoms? or in a well established gang that is getting hunted by PD for being a felon? the discussion we talking about here is the performance of a super bike that you turned it into "Win/Lose" and "Escape from Jail free card" if that doesn't scream Win mentality I don't know what is.
Bike is already nerfed from the new gas tank and handling is way bad as of now.
the drag can be tweaked to have the handling a little bit better or to be faster as some people suggested. leave these forums for actual good suggestions.

The thread got derailed when people started complaining that the bike they saved up for and worked hard to achieve their "Dream" of escaping police. I was addressing this.

Nice try with the fallacy though.

And yes, my criminal characters ARE felons. Literally got a stockpile of heavies on multiple alts. The whole point is to remain incognito and NOT attract police attention but I know that can be hard to comprehend sometimes.

fact is they've nerfed crims into the ground. They've given PD all the tools to succeed and crims still pull through. But im glad you enjoy teasing people who actually worked for their shit. How's the spawned in gas station going btw?

You and I both know that playing this game to win is not the end-all-be-all goal. Well, it shouldn't be. Its about having fun. Every single time I log onto my multiple criminal accounts I mentally prepare myself to be ready to face a possible 4+ hour sentence. You should not play the game expecting not to get caught. Always be ready to get caught, the goal is not to win, its to have a fun time. There's a reason I've only posted like 3 forum reports in total.

You're supposed to play to have good times with the boys, play a role or character that is fun for you. If you're not having fun playing a criminal character, I think its time to lean towards the civilian or government faction RP. "Success" is relative. I have IRL friends that play this game once in a blue moon just to have fun and laugh meeting people etc. If you're working hard for something, make it something you will enjoy regardless of its status in the "meta".

I enjoy the PVP aspect of the server, its fun and it gets the adrenaline pumping but that does not mean I don't enjoy the simple cop RP. Not everything can be a big situation, cops do not always win.

The only time where losing should leave a sour taste is when rules are broken.
