Sure, I just honestly believe that 24 hours is too long and people will just avoid playing the server for a day if they get one. I feel like something along the lines of the jail script would be better, like its suspended for 4 hours of being on the server instead of 12 hours in or out of the server.

Lets edit license suspensions from 24 OOC hours to 24 IC hours. Lets discuss.

Eastside Art Collective Eastside Art Collective The Eastside Art Collective is soon to be our newest addition to our fronts, a high-end art gallery that will showcase a wide range of contemporary and modern pieces. But behind the legitimate facade, the gallery also serves as a space for private meetings, underground dealings, and secret events reserved for those in the know. This isn’t just a place to admire fine art; it’s a carefully crafted environment where business and culture collide. What can you expect? The public sees an elegant space filled with carefully curated art pieces. This is the perfect cover for anyone walking in off the street, oblivious to what’s really happening. Behind the scenes, we have private rooms where exclusive meetings and discussions will take place. These spaces are for trusted members and partners only, business that isn’t meant for public eyes. We plan to host art exhibitions, private auctions, and exclusive gatherings. Of course, some of these "gatherings" might have a bit more than just art for sale.

Example 2 happens all the time! Always have to do the gun check while in the car otherwise its a finger, you can even see in my POV that I can't even see the gun at all lol.

How far does this line go? Can I claim I'm OOCly uncomfortable in any situation where I'm at a loss and leave? There is already a huge "W mentality" surrounding the server, and the last thing we need is for people to have the option to OOCly back out of any situation they don’t want to be in, because people will misuse it to get out of situations they don’t like. A lot of people experience sexual assault and rape in their lifetimes, just look at the statistics, while I imagine most people on this server have not been enslaved in their lifetimes (this could just be me talking from my white ignorant British middle-class perspective). This is due to the fact that every person on this server has the benefits of power, internet, and a PC able to run ERCP. I really don’t think it creates a bad reputation for the server at all. Everybody has different things going on outside of Eclipse, but that doesn't mean the rest of the community should be forced to start or stop doing something for just a few people. If you are unable to separate getting humiliated ICly from your OOC feelings, that is on you. (Not referring to the whole sexual assault thing... don’t shout at me please).

These trees are wank. They load in shit and cause my PC to dick.

I disagree with the argument that "slavery RP" should be banned unless it involves racism or explicit behavior. In a criminal RP setting, power dynamics, control, and forced labor can be realistic elements of certain storylines. Criminals forcing others into work or using intimidation isn't really (and shouldn't be) Gross RP in my opinion, It just sounds like you don't want to pick plants. This has never happened to me, and I’ve never seen it, but I’m sure if you PM the people doing things that make you uncomfortable and say, "This is making me uncomfortable, can you stop?" (assuming they’re doing something genuinely bothering you), they might actually stop. A lot of players don’t communicate and rush straight to the forums, so instead of doing that, why not try talking? That way, everyone can enjoy the experience. As long as it’s not racially motivated or overly graphic, I don’t see a problem with it. Not every RP situation needs to be positive, and some players seek darker scenarios. The key is maintaining a level of respect for players OOC and ensuring that the line is drawn when it becomes offensive beyond the game.

Honestly, I don't see much wrong with the process now. If you aren't a tart while being arrested it surely doesn't take that long? This just seems like a lot of effort not just for developers but for everyone - this is change that will start a lot of /b back and forth I assume especially if its at an officers discretion. If this is created its a tad hypocritical especially due to crims also wasting LEO's time as well - are people going to report every time I keep resisting after being tased 12 times? Time wasting 100% has gone both ways. I just feel like this is going to create a lot of OOC drama, Dev work for nothing. Honestly most peoples arguments are valid - If you admit to the crime, you will save time. If you didn't do it, you shouldn't be there long? I just don't understand why you wouldn't go to a lawyer and make a big deal of this ICly since ICly it is a big deal. Like crim is harder work then doing anything else however it is a lot more rewarding since you can shape your RP kind of how you want, while if your an LEO you don't really have that choice. (you do.. I mean your just limited due to faction rules, OOC corruption etc) When Civil Court™ is a thing you might actually be able to do something not through the IA system - Just JB doesn't have the experienced manpower to pull that off right now with lack of Judges, etc. I don't know, could be wrong. Just got bored while waiting for my Dominos to get here.

I've been apart of factions that create arrests report, I've been apart of factions that suppress arrest reports. Sure, if a case is complicated then it might take a while, but most of the arrest reports are plain and simple (as it should be written). I don't really understand your point of "standing in court".

Is that arrest weport weally trwicky?

As someone who attempted to focus on criminal RP, then getting greeted with getting robbed while robbing. At the end of the day, I believe this whole avenue of RP is strange. The only reason why people rob house robbers is that it's script impossible (I think, defo exploiting though) to use a gun and have a crate in your hands. Therefore when the house robber leaves the house they instantly are put under FRP, alongside the fact that it's a door which goes into a different dimension therefore giving the (wording this, is insane) house robber robber the advantage. While I have been a victim and a culprit of robbing house robbers, I still believe it's something that needs to be defined better in the rules. I just believe there are so many different rule breaks in this common scenario such as; NRP Metagaming FearRP

I doubt anyone is going to care for "NPC cases", I might as well go play a single-player game at that point. Let me explain something again, cases do move forward however, we have 2 defence attorneys, 5 prosecuting attorneys and 2 superior court judges. So they can't all move at once. On another level, JB RP is insane. Trials are some of the only RP scenes where no one is complaining OOCly. We had a trial yesterday where we put Wolfgang on the stand. I've played this server from many different aspects and never had as serious and good RP as a trial. Trials may take a while, but it is better RP than rolling labs and shooting. I don't understand at all how this became a crim vs cop thread. It seems people are just upset about transparency, if you didn't know already, things happen behind the scenes of EVERY single faction on this server. Here are some key points; Everyone wants to RP, not just you, that's why JB takes a while. It's good RP and a lot of people like it, this is an RP server after all. PD/SD are doing things behind the scenes, they don't just cuff you and make up a reason. PD/SD have OOC rules in place that stop them from being corrupt if you are not OOCly IAing them, that is on you (in regards to it not stopping) JB also does not at all deal with things like corruption (unless regarding the rules of evidence etc etc). Did the officer beat you.. Yeah? Did you do the crimes.. Yeah? We don't have a civil court. The thing about JB is that it is amazing RP, that is open to everyone. We're not going to just give the RP to people who are like a big deal and if we did I'm sure multiple people would lose all passion in JB and leave.

I've been called to active scenes numerous times. It actually was really good fun however it still doesn't make much sense, with the way arrests work in this server (and well in every server) it doesn't make sense for a lawyer to be there. Like what are defense attorneys going to rock up to Island?

With the expansion you've given to your original statement, I see more where you're coming from. I see one problem with the current system and that is it takes a long time. I agree with some of the things you're saying in theory and I have brought up some of these things to JB in the past myself. However, I still believe the responses I got to be true or even more true; we do not have enough judges to implement a system like this. There are other problems with this idea as a whole; I don't know what the stats were but I do know that PD and SD arrest a lot of people every week. I don't see this being done in a way that JB can handle. I don't think we will ever have a system where you will stand trial before being sentenced other than indictments. No, the issue with the current system is: We don't have enough judges; We don't have enough members as a whole. We can only deal with a few cases at a time, due to a lack of members. This leads to a backlog. People who say “I wish to appeal my sentence” in the narrative are normally told to do so by someone like me, why provide information that can potentially harm your defence? It's not that they are putting in minimal effort at all; it's that they don't want to provide evidence against themselves, same with pleading the 5th in a questioning. The current system would work well if we had more judges. The problem with getting more judges is that there is no path to becoming a judge which was promised to be worked on by the leader of the branch who has since become inactive. If we had more judges, we could activate more cases and cases would go faster. Everyone knows there is a problem, in a sense, with JB. I don't understand why you are taking this suggestion and not replying with any solutions, ideas or useful information,

Okay, please do some research before stating more incorrect information. There are 3 courts that are open, the superior court, the court of appeals and the supreme court. These all have active cases within in them. In no shape or form has the defendant ever had the burden of proof put on them. Do you understand how little sense that makes, "hey you've been charged, now please prove your innocence." This is not only, how we are trained and how we train people. This is also what the constitution brings to light. Colt himself who developed the current system that we use has literally replied to your post stating how incorrect it is.

The reason why cases take a long time is because there are a lot of them. So in theory this is an amazing fix! However, you're also just disallowing John_Smith to have any actual RP with the Judicial Branch. This also will probably make people leave the Judicial Branch, most of us are in the Judicial Branch because of the courtroom RP so less of it would dishearten the branch. Cases like Andy Tyrie, Vince Williams and Mike Luigi are high-profile. However, this doesn't mean they should jump into the front of the queue; these 3 individuals can all get good RP wherever they go. John_Smith can't get good RP wherever he goes, he's stuck rolling labs, so if he wants to have a court case, have some RP and have some fun, let him.

Yes I read the previous post that you said on all these topics. I was just shedding some light for Dola.

JB are the most highest paid legal faction in the server to my knowledge.
-
This whole statement is so incorrect. The Judicial Branch works, it takes along time because it is a court system (like every other court system). I really don't believe that the Judicial Branch is making your LEO characters job "unnecessarily complicated". I am so utterly confused by this statement in everyway shape and form. Are you really upset that you can't go around searching everyone or is a writing an arrest report, which isn't very hard or long, stopping you from having the "entertaining aspects of police roleplay in Eclipse". So the prosecution sends a request for information to the arresting department, they respond with the evidence (they should already have). That is everything, you have to write a witness statement as well. I play an LEO character and I have one piece of mandatory paperwork, an arrest report, I don't see how this making my characters job "unnecessarily complicated". We don't even have a civil court yet, once we do you'll characters job will then be more complicated (by complicated I mean actually following human rights and civil liberties). Gonna say how it looks, you seem bit biased; so you want an LEO making a verdict on if someone is guilty or not guilty? Let me show you something that will extirpate that idea; https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewtopic.php?t=122136.

Thank you, I completely agree with everything you've said.

Hey! I've been apart of JB since December (with a slight break because.. you know) Now, I understand the frustration with people having their cases take a long time; trust me I see it a lot. However, this is not the solution this will just add to the problems. Creating a OOC limit on a trial will either do 2 things. Kill the Judicial Branch Make JB a get out of jail free card (as Cup said) We all want our cases to go faster, me included. So to make you understand a little more let me explain the steps of a trial for you. A person files a case A judge files a notice of receipt A judge activates that case; when they're next in line A defense attorney and a prosecuting attorney signs up to that case A judge files an order for discovery Prosecution files its discovery (within 7 days) Defense has 3 days to file any motions and discovery. Those motions will be finalized, if made. This can take the biggest chunk of time. (Back and forth with the attorneys, Judges making decisions, If any party disagrees with the decision made by the judge (pretty common) it will be taken to the court of appeals) The Judge will file a notice of scheduling The defendant, the Judge, the defense attorney and the prosecuting attorney will all have to agree on time. (This can also be difficult, we have members from all across the world) The case will go to trial A verdict will be posted Now, that's just in general. The prosecution has a lot of internal things they have to do same with the defense. The prosecution has to contact either LSSD or LSPD asking for all the evidence against the person filing against the charges. The prosecution then has to wait for those LEO's to write witness statements, hand over arrest reports and give any other evidence. The defense have to reach out to the defendant and make sure they want to carry on with their case if so then arrange a meeting. The defense then has to gather evidence also to benefit the client, statements and any other evidence. So, we are waiting on 4 people constantly (defendant, judge, prosecutor, defense), these people have IRL lives and this is a videogame. We are also waiting on any witnesses and players who were involved. This can range from 1-10 people. Now lets go over a few things said in this thread, That I personally believe don't make much sense. Sadly, we really only have 1/2 active judges who take on superior court cases (We have 76 pending cases). We have 2 defense attorneys, and the prosecution is set up really well due to good leadership. Most of delays happen because of slow replies from people (understandable, its a game). This is very close to what actually happens, now it may take 56 days in theory. However, lets take into account that there is 76 cases. We can't do them all at once, we don't have the manpower for that. Well, actually the prosecution normally does prove your guilty in a couple weeks. However, they don't provide the evidence until the case is actually going to trial. We don't take a while because we can't prove your guilt, we take a while because we have 76 people wanting to prove their innocent, 76 people who want a defense to that guilt. So, defense does have a system in place similar to the one your describing at the top. A defense attorney will reach out to the defendant asking if they want to continue with their case (a discord message is sent also, along the lines of an email emoji). The normal rule was if they don't respond OOCly or ICly within 3 days, we drop the case. However this has been since reworked up to a week, due to people already waiting a while we don't want to take valued RP from them. So what you're saying about "a list" would work in theory, yet this could be easily abused. This would mean that you could go to jail for e.g Reckless and have no chance to argue that charge. Which is totally unfair on crims and legals alike. However, something is in the works which should be released fairly soon that will focus more on getting rid of this backlog of "petty charges". Prosecution is the most efficient thing I've ever witnessed on this server. Before you say I'm tooting my own horn, I have nothing to do with prosecution and never had; they are my rival. Prosecution is the only thing that in JB that in my opinion works flawlessly, This could be due to good members in that division alongside good leadership in general. It seems your problem isn't with JB.. You're saying the Judicial Branch is "significantly disrupting players time, experience and enjoyment of the server." by not performing its faction duties, Yet then you go on about the how the reason is "law enforcement as abusing the system to stack charges, apply additional flimsy charges or just corruptly apply charges on players knowing". Now, I believe your misjudged as someone who (to my knowledge) hasn't spent time in a LEO faction. The one time I stacked charges on my SD character, A sergeant and a captain called me to the station, shouted at me and removed some of the charges. I have spent time, playing crim, playing an LEO and also playing an attorney. I'm certain that if you believe a LEO is "corruptly appling charges" and you file an OOC IA on that LEO, that he will be reprimanded. I've seen it from all angles. I've seen people get away with charges due to lack of evidence before they've spent time in prison, I've been let go before I've been sent to prison. I've been a victim and a suspect when it comes to charge stacking. I just believe your mixing up charge stacking and getting charges with crimes that you did do. They do "charge stack" in real life and also in real life you don't have a maximum of 3 hours in jail. I hope this has shed some light onto your suggestion, if you have any questions or problems about what I've feel free to reach out to me via discord (.kujima)

I was using the helicam the other day and it is cool and to my knowledge, it's pretty realistic. However there is almost nothing crims can do to counteract this, the helicopter can be far enough in the air that gunshots just won't reach guns that crims can get their hands on. I understand that it's realistic and makes sense but I do also believe it encourages Less RP and more gunfights/ambushes. Since crims cannot evade from this most of the time it makes more sense to them just to set up somewhere and shoot at LEOs. I'm pretty sure in the very clip that is being used we were being led into an ambush. A good way to make this more fair while also respecting the work put into developing this would be to remove the Lock On.

You can buy character slots in the F6 menu for 500 credits, or once your character reaches 50k xp then you can make a new one.
