WinstonSamaj Posted November 30, 2021 Report Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) While IC I don't own a gas station bit I've heard that they're becoming less and less profitable due to competiton as to be expected ( and obviously is a real life issue). I was thinking it wold be a nice idea to offer different octane levels of fuel. For example each gas station could offer 87 91 or 95 octane fuels each of which could have a small impact on vehicles engine performance ( Eg 87 no effect, 91 5% increase in acceleration, 95 7.5% in acceleration). This means there are more categories for gas stations to compete over such as in the real world and this may offer better profitability all round while not effecting the economy too much. I can see how this idea would contain a lot of coding and might not be worth the effect but I'd love to know people's thoughts Edited November 30, 2021 by WinstonSamaj 1 Quote
IAmTurtle Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 It should be more like different cars require certain gas types. As you putting the wrong type of gas in your car engine will actually harm the life of the engine. Also I don't think this would require a lot more work to be done unless a whole ui were to be built for it. 1 Quote
Jbacon Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 Well if you want performance modifications to cars, that would require the impacts of each fuel tested across each car to ensure no bugs are present. I imagine this is a bigger task then you'd expect. As for damage to the engine this would mean that a entire system created to work on the bases of car degradation over time. (wear and tear on a car) <- something I would love to see that over time your car requires oil changes, tires, and parts in order to maintain it... the worse the "wear and tear" the more it costs... prolonged driving at high rates of speed increase tire wear... and damage to the vehicles combustion engine, and components... similarly how race cars burn through parts and tires absurdly quickly.... standard street tires are not built for the heat, pressure and forces that are generated by a car doing 200kph, it takes special tires to be able to maintain these speeds for anything more then a couple moments... Take your car to a race track and do 30minutes of driving, and check out the marbles on your tires... assuming your car will go that fast! Quote

I definitely agree with this statement as it would quite interesting to see a different variety of gas that could potentially harm your engine or make the oil level decay over time. About the original statement about octane fuels possibly enhancing the performance of your vehicle I would have to disagree as I feel it would just be to complicated and confuse players who have just started playing. Also these octane fuels as mentioned could ensure many bugs that could alter roleplay scenarios to benefit the player abusing said bugs. Quote
