bloodymarysgirl Posted Thursday at 05:47 AM Report Posted Thursday at 05:47 AM I've noticed that a lot of people don't give others enough time to type, especially PD. For example, you might briefly stop to send a quick radio message to a friend or respond to something they said, and before you can even finish typing, PD pulls you over for "impeding traffic." Since text-based roleplay takes time, there should be a rule requiring players to give someone a reasonable amount of time to finish typing before taking enforcement action. This would help ensure text roleplayers have a fair opportunity to participate without being immediately penalized. A rule like this would also be easy for staff to enforce because both perspectives can be reviewed through body camera footage. Staff could determine whether the player was only stopped long enough to send a quick message or whether they were having an extended conversation that was genuinely blocking traffic. This wouldn't excuse sitting in the middle of the road having a full conversation unless it's appropriate for the roleplay. It would simply provide reasonable protection for players who use text-based roleplay and only need a few moments to send a quick radio transmission or response before continuing. Quote
Galaxy420 Posted Thursday at 05:56 AM Report Posted Thursday at 05:56 AM +1 PDs and SDs dont give changes for people who dont use voice which they keep ruin our rp.... Quote
AnakinB Posted Friday at 01:50 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:50 AM -1. Server needs less rules not more, get a mic or learn to type faster 1 Quote
bloodymarysgirl Posted Friday at 03:01 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 03:01 AM I don't think this is about adding unnecessary rules or forcing everyone to play a certain way. The server supports text roleplay, so players who choose that style should have a fair opportunity to participate. Not everyone wants to or can use a microphone, and "type faster" isn't a practical solution. The suggestion isn't asking for players to sit in the road indefinitely—it's asking for a few reasonable seconds to finish a radio transmission or response before enforcement begins. Staff could easily distinguish between someone briefly typing and someone genuinely blocking traffic through bodycam footage. The goal is fairness, not adding restrictions for the sake of it. Quote
Daxu Posted Friday at 03:04 AM Report Posted Friday at 03:04 AM It's already a rule that one should allow another party to finish typing their text before acting on anything. This is true whether it's a script command, a /me or /do, or a piece of dialog, to prevent potentially powergaming a situation. If you find yourself consistently getting interrupted, might be worth trying to remind them in /pm, and if there was something really egregious/something that is considered a break of that rule, you should make an in-game/forum report about it. 2 Quote
Eliza Posted Friday at 10:15 PM Report Posted Friday at 10:15 PM I think half the time people don’t realize somebody is typing because they’re not paying attention to the chat 1 Quote
padpilot Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Not a rule, but there needs to be more instruction from staff and FM (yet again). Would be way too much to try and time and manage this tbf However PD especially need to allow more time for this /me throws object over the bridge into the water /me puts gun to their own head /me attempts to turn around and tackle the chasing man I've tried each one of these since being back and every time i'm auto cuffed and they are half way through reading me my rights before i've even finished typing. Each one could have given more RP but each was shut down by eager and over zealous cops. NOTE: I did a lot of RP like this back in 2019 and "time allowed to type" was never an issue... OFC we didn't have auto scripts then and the cops had to type so it allowed both parties time to stop, slow the pace and get some good RP in before thc cuffs go on. Fear Roleplay (FRP) If an attacker lowers their weapon to type, victims who were under fear RP remain as so. 11. Powergaming (PG) Powergaming is defined as inserting unrealistic actions into a character's actions that would otherwise not be possible in real life, providing non-factual statements in /do, or not allowing other players a chance to roleplay responses and their own actions to your roleplay. There are rules for this. Only way staff can respond is via in game/forum reports and faction feedback. I heavily encourage everyone to submit them. No one should be rushing that kind of RP. Quote

I meant that the suggestions and the time aspect should "not be a rule". I know the rule exists already but if we introduce specific sets amounts of time then it will just get even harder to manage.
