My boyfriend, who plays on the server, is deaf in real life. Because of this, there are situations where he may not notice things that other players would, especially if they rely on voice or audio cues. A disability tag could help other players understand this and encourage reasonable accommodations when interacting with players who choose to use it. If a tag like this were added, it would also be important to establish clear guidelines for how it should be used and what, if any, accommodations or expectations come with it. That way, everyone understands how to interact respectfully and consistently, while avoiding confusion or creating unfair advantages. The tag would be completely optional, allowing players to decide for themselves whether they want to identify as having a disability. Its purpose would simply be to improve communication, awareness, and the overall experience for those who may need it. Or just dont play a sound based game while deaf and expect special treatment Edited Thursday at 06:37 AM by Larentki 1 1 1 1 Quote
penguinkibble Posted Thursday at 08:44 AM Report Posted Thursday at 08:44 AM -1 There’s a lot of text based servers, this server is very clear that it’s VOIP preferred, which is a big reason a lot of people joined it to begin with. I don’t mind switching to text to accommodate someone in a 1 on 1 conversation, but having “DISABLED” over someone’s head and expecting all players to accommodate it during RP scenarios will be borderline impossible and extremely hard to enforce. if I’m in a fight and I see someone with the word “DISABLED” over their head, I’m not going to stop my voip communications and start typing to my teammates. We’ve seen something similar with people who don’t speak in LEO factions, they’re unable to give proper or quick communications which just results in uselessly poor or unproductive role-play. If you choose to play a VOIP RP server while deaf, that’s your choice and it may be a bit harder. Forcing everyone to change their RP around your disability seems unrealistic Quote

I myself use text more than voip by a huge margin because that's how I want to play and it doesn't impact those around me that much. Quote

If you want to be the kind of person that chooses to not interact with someone properly because of their need for accommodation, that’s fully your decision as a human being. The tag would just serve as an easier indicator for those who *do* want to be a bit more compassionate, instead of forcing people to hot key every time they encounter a player on the server. 1 Quote
