Diligo Posted November 19, 2024 Report Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) Disclaimer: Please do not lock this thread admins, everything I write here is not passive aggressive. I am new here and want to learn! Hello beautiful people, I have few questions to people that are part of criminal and civilian (not government) factions. I am asking this because I am new at creating factions. 1)What does "upholding faction lore" mean to you? 2)What is a PvP / Clapper faction? Some people call some factions that way, I want to know why and if it is a real thing! 3) Is being a PvP / clapper faction bad and contributes negatively to the community or actually just the opposite? 4.1)If contributes good to community - Can I create a faction dedicated just for PvP? 4.2)If contributes bad to community - Why are they allowed to exist? Please do not take this questionaire as passive aggressive - I am new member of the community and I have heard a lot of people saying this and that about some factions. A lot of high tier factions accusing each other for ''upholding the faction lore'', so I just wanted to clear the air for me and maybe some other curious people about what that all is about! To not get this thread locked - let us not use any names of people or factions! Thank you! Edited November 19, 2024 by Nikolia Quote
astrx Posted November 19, 2024 Report Posted November 19, 2024 To have a faction, there faction needs to have some form of lore based around it, so you're being asked what this means to you. I cannot give any tips nor answers as this is for you to answer in your own words to see how you answer it. A "PvP/Clapper" faction are what players state faction are that focus on playing PvP and playing into lab culture (rolling labs, robbing people and generally holding labs all day). This term is distasteful and no faction should be referred to as this. Any and all factions play their own part in the community and should be respected for what they do. There is no answer to give for the final three questions as neither of the terms apply in their own respect. As said previously, all faction provide their own contributions to the community in their own way. There are factions that focus on roleplay and lore and then some enjoy to PvP. Everything is personal preference and you should do what you want to do on the server, but focussing solely on PvP is not a good mentality to have, as this is a roleplay server after all. Hope this helps. 1 Quote
Diligo Posted November 20, 2024 Author Report Posted November 20, 2024 (edited) Understandable, so I assume the phrase PvP/Clapper is more so used just to discredit a rival faction. How about any other way of upholding faction lore? Homes(their design and locations), clothes, vehicles, guns. The faction of course decides itself what is their faction's inherent lore and style at the current moment. But I have heard videos of people saying each other ``how can you call yourself X you dont even dress like X`` or ``how can you call yourself Z you dont even drive [specific type of vehicle appropriate to faction Z lore]`` Regardless of that, who is responsible for upholding faction lore and what would be the punishments for not upholding faction lore? If I am making a faction and I am the founder - should my faction members be punished for wearing clothes that are subjectively (not objectively) unappropriate of our faction`s lore? If I let them unpunished, will the admins punish them? And also - I assume a lot of people would not like to be forced to dress a certain way just because they joined a specific faction or even drive their vehicles, because that would take some time to get them if not already in their roster. And if that is everyone - is any faction different? Some high-tier factions just seem like same vehicles, same guns, same appartments and houses, same strategies, same crimes they commit. Maybe the colors and the faction HQ locations are different. Some times even the colors are not that different from each other. And so every beef I see in reports or hear from others about high-tier factions seems more like personal beef between 2 people and just a group of friends behind them. To not make anyone angry - I want to explore and learn, as a new player would be rather taught about roleplay rules and how every faction differs rather than immediately forum post locked. I want to learn and understand where my IC can go and relate himself to. Not join a faction because they wear my favorite color.... P.S. This is not to discredit any faction - As you see I have not named any names. I am simply observing and I know I am not alone. A lot of people are confused about this, and I just wanted to have a discussion rather than get shut down. Edited November 20, 2024 by Nikolia Quote
Victor Einhart Posted November 22, 2024 Report Posted November 22, 2024 (edited) I'll submit the "clapper mentality" is broadcast a lot in the reports section. People that do this are often reported, and you see a lot of that in that forum for good reason - often they are breaking rules or otherwise behaving badly. The decent people that are playing to their lore and not playing into that crappy mentality basically never appear in that section, so you don't really hear about them. Quietthecutie Posted November 23, 2024 Report Posted November 23, 2024 I mean if you just glance at the reports section you can easily pick up patterns on the same 4-5 factions being frequently involved there. Said factions engage heavily in PvP scenarios, so its natural this would happen, as this is where direct conflict happens, massively increasing the likelyhood of ooc conflict or alleged rulebeaks happening. This isnt to say one faction is "clapper" or bad. thats just an oversimplification. but the reports are there, this is all public knowlege so you can draw your own ooc conclusions. 1 Quote
