PSX OX Posted August 29, 2024 Report Posted August 29, 2024 +1 There is no reason not to have both as an option Quote
Yourmomshamster Posted August 30, 2024 Report Posted August 30, 2024 This will never be implemented, but huge +1 anyways. Quote
Lynn Foster Posted August 30, 2024 Report Posted August 30, 2024 Please put commands back, I dislike having to navigate menus. I can type a command without having to think or look, I can't do that with a menu. Quote
Daxu Posted August 31, 2024 Report Posted August 31, 2024 This U menu will clearly continue being updated. I’m all for, as it will help new/occasional players who feel daunted to remember 700 different commands just to get around. With that, I can see the appeal/need for some commands to remain off so that the player base is nudged into using the new menu. I think /phone and related commands like /drop(store)body are great example, because they correspond to actions/things your character is interacting with. By all means I’d prefer UI stuff like the WI menu for picking people up and the U menu for dropping tbh, it feels a bit more realistic for me than feeling like Neo by prepping a bunch of slash commands… I think they should not be the essential commands that hundreds/thousands of players have grown accustomed to. The basic things like /stats, /salary, /vol should be kept alongside their addition to the U menu. This is because when I type stats, it’s not entirely expected that my character is “doing” anything, it’s more so a meta-action (not OOC of course). TLDR I’m in favor of keeping commands that don’t imply in-game action/interaction, while purging others that have the ability to have richer engagement with in-game by using different UI elements. Bala Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 There are certain times where a menu-like system is beneficial as we've seen with the old CTRL+X or the right click menu in the Inventory. When needing to do different things with an object, person or vehicle, it's extremely useful. However, there are times where it's really not necessary and we seem to have this habit of, when a new thing gets designed like this or the lockpicking minigame, we put it into as much as we possibly can regardless of whether or not it serves that particular aspect of the script. The faction locker menu is a great example of this working as it should but it works because it groups together all the same bits and pieces in a way that would be too cumbersome through commands or other systems. But frankly, things like /stats and /salary don't belong in this menu. The only thing that needed changing about /salary is the amount of clutter in it and that hasn't even been changed. There are six lines PER faction in /salary, if you are in three factions, that's 18 lines. You could literally include all pertinent information, for all three factions, in like four lines in the text box for example. SALARY - $000,000 Duty - F1: YES | F2: NO | F3: NO Hours - F1: 5.2 | F2: 4.1 | F3: 1.5 AFK: YES Jailed?: NO If you're going to change stuff for user convenience, don't keep the things that make it inconvenient! 4 Quote
