Impound Payment

Recommended Posts

Currently:
Working for either mechanic company, part of our responsibility is to reposes any illegibly parked / abandoned vehicles in line with the State of San Andreas Penal Code.
However performing this service doesn't provide any payment to the mechanic.

Currently, modifying, repairing and providing visual repairs (car wash) all allow the mechanic to earn a % of 'labor costs'.
However if patrolling and impounding vehicles, no payment is received.

Suggestion:
Provide a payment to the mechanic who impounds any vehicles (both secure and normal to avoid bias)
I'm not sure how much it should be, however in my opinion, I think it should be similar to the other payments.

Pros / Cons:
(P) - Mechanics would be more inclined to enforce improper parking
(P) - The city streets and highways would therefore be cleaner
(P) - Allows mechanics who predominantly do roadside services a chance to earn money when away from their shop duties (I played 8 hours tonight and earnt a little over 10k)
(P) - (OOC) Additional RP scenarios of owners coming back to their car before it's towed. I've experienced some excellent RP with people when towing.

(C) - If the payment is too high, the impound system may be abused / overworked.
(C) - More vehicles impounded which may cause problems for new players. (Especially those who are not aware of how to retrieve an impounded car)

Please let me know what you think. It's only a suggestion. Even if it never a paid option, I'll keep impounding vehicles and patrolling when not responding to requests as it's by far my favorite part of the job 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestion.

Kind Regards,
Duncan Smith

+1

I actually think this is a good idea, something like $300 to come and impound a vehicle requested by LEO would be a nice addition. It makes sense since impounding cars would technically sit at a private lot, and not LEO lots, and LSC/Bayview are private businesses.

Something like $250-300 a vehicle that's brought to impound.

I'm glad you agree @SquirtleSquad as it would also benefit and motivate the police department.

However I've recently learnt that the mechanic role gets paid every Sunday based on hours worked. (Didn't realize at the time and thought you only got paid for servicing/working on vehicles haha)

Yeah, that's how factions pay out, however, I still see no reason to not get paid to do alternative work within LSC/Bayview.

-1 because it shouldn't be a mechanics' job to enforce parking laws unless called upon by PD/SD to do that as their job. PD also have flatbed and are able to tow, but obviously, if they are busy then that is on them for not having the resources to enforce that sort of thing.

Mechanics get paid hourly which you found out (I wish it was % labor though LOL) but knowing this server, that would just get abused and there are no checks to see if they are properly towing and no way to find out who is lying unless every single impound was documented on the mechanic's side.

I can just see this going extremely south due to a  bunch of factors like miscommunication, and people just impounding to get extra money no matter the cost because you can tow from anywhere. Honestly, it is so much better to see cars on the road so long as they are parked up normally because we have zero NPCs driving around it just gives more to look at. Also if they just get free rain to impound illegally parked cars, what stops them from accidentally taking NPC cars meant for chopping because they spawn illegally parked on the sides of roads most of the time?

If properly implemented with checks and balanced I could see it being interesting, or if there was a public works job created with scripted tows, such as if BurgerShot got scripted deliveries they could do to homes. Though to just allow it I can just see it not working well.
