  1. easy solution, remove mandatory RP for mechanics, I rather sit and chat with one working on my car then we stand there for 0 interaction because if you do not get your 4 lines of RP you risk your job and a punishment/faction ban. your RPing for no one, BRING BACK THE LEDGE SYSTEM and add commission, IDK why the ledge based system was removed, Everyone just stands in a line and you go from right to left no favorites no "yo i want Jim to do my car" just go down the line. Also solved a lot of salary farming issues because if you were next in line to do a car and just were not responding you got a stern talking to, cause I've seen my fair share of on duty mechanics just sitting on a couch or dancing to music with ((Tabbed Out)) while one mechanic is busting his ass. Commission is an incentive to be like "oh its busy hell yah ima make bank and get my work in today' rather then "oh its busy good thing I still make 5k an hour flat" - proceeds to clock off and only clock on when its slow morning shift or graveyard.

The question really though @Herbo is do you treat the symptom or the root cause off the issues?

    • LSC lacks reliable leadership. It changes the owner 2-3 times a year and with it, you never really see an identity or community of people establish. Look at what Lilymay Bryd has done for DCC. Before her, the leadership kept changing hands and DCC suffered as a result
With a stable leader, you have a base to build. LSC needs not just a leader with ideas but probably a leader with friends. Make that shop into a community of people.

    • With the increase of the amount of Government Factions to join, LSC was further marginalised and being a mechanic is simply less attractive than a law enforcement, law or government job. In the context of our server, you don't really drive around, you don't get a gun. You're stuck at the same location almost all the time.

I think the bottom line also is that, the server's player base isn't big enough for two large mechanic factions, if you want to have any kind of standard of person working there. If I'm interested in Mechanic RP in this server, i'm taking my ass to Bayview.

    • The lack of development in the mechanics marginalises their role in the server. The faction is entirely dependent on, players wanting fixes or customisations for their vehicles and nothing else really, some calls to respond to but you are doing that at the cost of those visiting your shop. Beyond that, there is nothing for them to do in the server. Beyond that, it's the same couple of commands with /me and honestly, this isn't a high roleplay server. Our player base needs a different kind of stimulation and mechanics are no different.

If you said to me, Bala, oh wise one, what would you do to rectify this?

    • Give the faction to @Chrisy and friends, if they still want to do it.
All things considered, like I said, at this juncture, it's going to take either someone REALLY into mechanic roleplay or someone with enough willing friends to make it work.

    • Consider increasing the wage cap just for mechanics in the server to $10,000.
Like it or not, money talks and maybe you don't aim LSC at long time players but at people looking to get started. Mechanics are some what of an essential service but they are denied the sorts of RP that

    • Add an Emergency Starter Kit for vehicles that will start and heal a perma-stalled vehicle enough to get it running again.
This would be a similar premise to CityBees, you would only be able to use it if less than say.. 2 mechanics were on duty. You don't want to eliminate mechanics going around the map doing repairs but you don't want to inconvenience players either.

    • Add an auto-repair location at Los Santos Customs and Bayview that will repair a person's car entirely, for $1500, with that money going to the treasury of either Bayview or LSC, depending on location.
Again, this would be a similar premise to CityBees, you would only be able to use it if less than say, 2 mechanics were on duty. You don't want to eliminate mechanics doing repairs but you don't want to inconvenience players either. If you have to get a repair done either way, you will need to go to LSC or Bayview.

    • Give mechanics the ability to install car speakers for cheaper than stores.

    • Mechanics can drop off permastalled vehicles at Mors Insurance for faction $$$.

    • Spawn "Broken" un-startable civilian vehicles around the map that have different random car issues to fix.
Each broken vehicle will have different things wrong with it.
A vehicle might need a fresh oil change or it might need new spark plugs and a wheel change.
The mechanic would have to perform the action(s) on the vehicle to fix it and the faction treasury would get money from a successful fix.
The vehicle would then become an extra civilian vehicles, that can be stolen and chopped.

    • When fixing a player car at LSC or Bayview, there will be random issues the mechanic has to fix to complete the repair.
Instead of just the /me's that seem to be binded at times, the mechanics would have certain things to solve on a vehicle when doing a repair. Replacing oil, spark plugs, fan belt, battery, engine coolant. They wouldn't impact the vehicle owner in any way, but a mechanic would have to diagnose the issues and solve them to repair the car.

    • To respray a vehicle a different colour, a mechanic would have to interact with all parts of a vehicle like they are chopping it.
Instead of dismantle, it'd be respray.
Couple successful rotations of the interaction ring would colour a part. So, you'd have to do like bonnet, doors and trunk.
Something a bit more active than just /me's.

I know we're big on the /me's for our mechanic factions but if I'm honest, they're for nobody. The owner just wants their car and no one else is interacting with the mechanic while they are doing this.

homie spitting as per usual, I was a LSC mechanic for a GOOD AMOUNT of time on the OG ledge before the full LSC makeover. Only reason I did it is because the people I worked with then made it enjoyable and everyone was friends. New LSC over the past multiple leadership changes is so bland and meh. Bala is just spewing good ideas that will 100% get overlooked as per usual even tho he speaks for like 95% of the community in his exact words.

One of the biggest turn offs of being a mechanic was honestly the /me's and /do's cause as bala said "They're for nobody" whats the actual point? your allowed to use macros and keybinds anyway. I remember getting teleported to diff dim and talked to by a staff member for not doing /me's on my own vehicle in the shop. Why would I do RP with myself in the form of text?

Mirror Park Tuning would have bankrupt LSC and Bayview if it was given the time of day by staff or devs, Why? because as bala ALSO said " it's going to take either someone REALLY into mechanic roleplay or someone with enough willing friends to make it work." and MPT had MANY friends ready to try and help, but it was shut down due to only being allowed to be a "sister bayview" and fall under bay views leadership and rules. The server will not wanna see a freelance leader run a gov faction of this magnitude. The easier to control the better.

  3. Also seeing @Puzzling comment on here brings up another thing that I will NEVER let ecrp live down. Mirror Park Tuning. Now that business was top of its class and had the support of the majority of the community. Why? because it was doing something no one imagined possible, just a run of the mill mechanic shop for car enthusiasts. Now lets keep it blunt and sweet and just make it clear that ECRP and their mindset killed this faction at its peak and left A LOT of people with a nasty taste in their mouth. This faction was run by a staff member of fantastic standing in the community both legal and illegal and had the backing of the majority of the "civrp" player base. GOD FORBID criminals make 3k an hour standing at a mechanic shop with friends and doing mechanic RP instead of shooting police over minor inconveniences, but despite all the effort and struggle homie went through staff team shut that shit down so quick.

MPT was a sister bayview or at least that's what we called it. It had the im pretty sure just the bayview script on the OOC end to be able to hire people,BUT they were only allowed to do repairs  whatever shit went SWIMINGLY and a lot people even began working there and a majority of the community even took the extra time to only get repairs their even though u for some reason had to hand over cash . Well MPT got a little TOO popular and from an outside perspective seems like some people wanted to shut that down. "we do not want criminals using government tools" ok so lets do the RP of acquiring our own tools and we do not have to worry about that "no". Puzzling lowkey fought tooth and nail for his dream to come true and hit the HIGHEST peak possible and STILL tried to make it work with all the hurdles being thrown his way. Eventually shit just became to much and I am pretty sure any sane human being would have given up when Puzzling did cause it was shit HURDLE after HURDLE after HURDLE.

so seeing a member of the community at the standing @Puzzling was, not be able to do a business dream like he did, why would some random joe try to do it? I ran that meat shop SOLELY for the purpose of I knew I could do it with only me, did not need script support what so ever and it was word of mouth. I despised the high prices of burgershot and the devs update to stores with submarines, tacos, etc... so I acted on it. Not really because I wanted to do the business but really because burgershot is ass.

I do not think civ RP is dead nor do I think it is a major result of scripting. I think some scripting could be useful and 100% would be nice if implemented for salary and treasury payout, but I would like to remind you that the criminal community told many members of staff that business and IC ventures (that would fall into the realm of what you're talking about) would be much more prominent when and if guns were made cheaper - this was done and not a single thing that many people within the criminal community wanted to do has had action taken and started.

As you know about the theatre and Ally's BASH (formerly VICE) company, the want and desire is there from the community, BUT the codependency for a script to be needed in every square inch of your endeavor is simply not a realistic way to go upon your experience in this server or really any server of that matter. The church, the theatre, the music studio, the event company - all done without any script. You just need to not be boring and find a way to stop people from NonRP crashing your idea/events.

Common theme, you want and want and want but then abuse or misuse the idea at hand when its developed. Businesses often fail because people are not accountable and cant give merit to a gang banger who wants them to do XYZ service. A large part of what the community would benefit from would be consumer service but most of the community falls within a LEO or crim player, neither typically care for a "consumer service" and if they did, it most likely would be trolled on and therefore ruining any source of motivation, its happened multiple times speaking from experience.

Its hard work and that's how it should be, if it was easy, everyone would do it.

YO HE SPITTING! but to go with what Kazj has said, OTF had made a business down in Jamestown revolving around nothing but interaction and RP, we sold cooked meat for a SMALL profit right around the time all the food got taken out of stores because burgershot was SO DAMN expensive. I would spend HOURS at the hunting grounds talking to players about selling me their raw meat for the same price of the butcher but I would give cold hard untaxed cash, and it worked WONDERFULLY we ran that business to heavens gates, and it was SO much fun, but fuck it became a 2nd job on top of my real one. I put pretty much 95% of my time into running that store (making rp posters, hosting events, making connections with local shop owners for cheap water, striking a sponsorship with Atomic Auto's to give out cheap vehicles, hunting for the meat myself).

Rage as a launcher is Insanely limited to what can be made, but you just got to make do with what you got. THE NUMBER 1 KILLER to any CivRP business is EXACTLY what Kazj said - Trolling. When you are SUPER stoked to make something and you make it. only for a rag tag group of people just not here for the right reasons to come and belittle everything you created because they are bored you tend to just drop it and move on.

I was fully intending on turning my Grove street arcade building into a fully functioning arcade place with a custom website of little miniclip games to play and giving out rewards to people based on Highscores of the week/month etc..., but the majority of the active player base is just too harsh on people tryna have fun. Let us never forget the iconic "Pier Gang" because you just wanted to socialize with the community at the hub.

:nodders: Fair enough, thought more was done to it than that. I'm gonna go around trying to find more comparisons, but I don't like the "cleanup" approach to actively used properties that were bought with that exterior in mind.

ya its my biggest concern in some areas, as obviously FM like to see the location you HQ in and reside in to match the lore of the group. But if we continue to change the way the city looks the areas people RP Reside in begins to not match the lore and we run into issues and conflicts

Ok the OTF HQ one is a STRETCH as like one of those trees are scripts places, the rest I put there from the furniture store, but your point is not invalid. Some places should just stay or resemble how they looked previous. Not a complete overhaul change. We hate the way the southside looks as it went from 'The Hood" to a suburban old folks retirement place over night, but that was done awhile ago in what people called 'The Tree Update"

  7. Why don't we fix what is already in the game before we add new things that just add more problems.

So many bugs and glitches have gone untouched some pushing a year old now, some being game shattering demotivating bugs

F6 bug still exists that allows you to just walk through locked doors (Mostly abused in DOC to get out of locked cells or the cellblock)

One Tap Bug from vehicle still a thing 1 year later (more common now then before for some reason) (Love losing Armor in 1 bullet to instant injure)(Shouldn't have to refund request)

House Robberies still a little iffy on the PD trigger

One Tap Knife bug (just abused now cause what can we do? just not use knives?)

If these are STILL being worked on for a solution, why not drop a announcement like 'Still working tirelessly on fixing X bug keep sending bug reports to help mediate the issue" just so we are AWARE its acknowledged.

I like the percentage idea Pazz mentioned, back in 2019/2020 I used to request through /report that a player have their IC time adjusted if I felt they RPed well, but I think this was changed and prohibited.

Maybe a good solution would be to start the jail/prison time as soon as a charge is added. When players eventually arrive at DOC/MRPD/Paleto the time would continue. If for some reason a player was left on a scene for more time then the charge gives out, they would be instantly released as soon as /jail or /prison is used. I think this would take players minds off of jail time knowing that their jail time is already counting down even if they are sitting in the back of a cruiser for 30 mins. This would hopefully increase the level of RP after someone is caught.

To me its not about "increasing the level of rp" its about there being RP at all, because why would people RP when the time stays as is the whole time? The way it currently is puts you in a mindset of "get to DOC asap to start serving your time".

Tweaking stamps:time ratio is a good starter to see if the atmosphere changes!

I have personally been SUPER pissed off because I was held in police custody for 40 minutes while PD RP was done, I didn't get to RP but I still had to sit there while they did and then go to actually serve my 3 hours sentence. Made me DESPISE the LEO's on scene and wanna seek revenge for prolonging my sentence, but if I act on it it becomes a forum report along the lines of "How is a cop doing his job escalation for a kidnapping?"

  9. 50 minutes ago, Ash said:

    This tbh.

Another issue is if this theoretical thing was implemented people get angry or salty that someone else from a different faction (generally that they consider the enemy, ooc half the time) is judging their RP. I'd take even more ways of reducing time within the prison itself, like making the stamp:time ratio better.

Offering time off as an incentive seems good on paper but I can imagine a fair few issues come with it working the ways mentioned above.

Don't bribe people to do better RP, instead make them feel a bit less crappy about being in prison in the first place and the RP will flow from that. The changes so far have done a pretty good job at that and going further with it would improve that.

I'm not even going to talk much about MD RP because I'm gonna be honest with you guys, most of the time I've seen something beyond "/do broken leg" is when someone wants to stall to bleed out and generate continuous wounds that don't stop bleeding, I think a lot more effort needs to be given from the criminal side in this regard. (A simple "/me would require surgery for X" would prompt an AMU response if that's available and can be fun RP if someone actually cared about RPing something more serious)

Ya I feel as to kill all birds with one stone, just make stamp:time ratio better and people be chilling.

And the whole extend till bleed out, it just comes with the mindset "why go to jail at al when I can stall the 30 seconds till forced over and over till i bleed out and get NLR'd" in my opinion it should be looked at more severely punishment wise then just stalling RP.

I wish I was more extensive with my 3rd degree burn RP on scene rather then after, because I have tried to take the RP further, but was ghosted on the GOV site and just kinda gave up on it.

That's it in a nutshell though, people don't see a need to put effort in unless it benefits them to do so. You're not wrong for saying what you've said because it's something that happens across crim, cop and every other area of the community. What that tells me is that subconsciously, a lot of our players want the speedy resolution and to move onto the next situation.

I don't know sometimes why we fight that because that mentality isn't going anywhere, so why not lean into it?

Personally, I'd love to give people who go above and beyond with their RP time off but it's not that simple, particularly now. You have JB who will want to account for every charge you make if a case comes through them. You will also have the natural bias of some cops wanting to do that and others not. Some people will have differing ideas as to what good RP is. Some will do it for their friends on alts but not their enemies.

That's what it was like before.

The vibe I get from being on the other side of crim is that the time you get in prison is fine, as long as you got stuff to do. The prison updates helped shift how prison is viewed now some what and that's great for crims/doc. Prison should be an IC punishment but shouldn't be an OOC one. Maybe there's more work to be done there but it's a start.

It's the fines that go with it that seem to irk people because you're kind of railroaded into criminal systems to make money but it so often leads to getting caught that your progress gets wiped and in some cases, you lose a lot more than you gain.

That's where I'd look personally, not at the times or what charges people get but at the fines.

W reply, with the additions added to DOC I find it at least in my shoes at a point I WANT to go to jail thus causing me to be more aggressive in my crimes and such, that laundry and litter shit pays your fines in a matter of no time (especially if you a night shift player like me when there is no one at DOC).

To me its the TIME not the fines, It just comes down to I have very limited playtime Monday-Friday with IRL work and other responsibilities so at most I am able to get 2-4 Hours a day to play. Now at least before when I was still an ACTIVE crim doing banks and stores and all those shenanigans I ran the risk of losing a full day of play everytime I did it. Some days I said fuck it some days I was like "nah ill be a scout/lookout guys" because of the time I would be looking to get. I just missed out on things because the times are just so long given the right circumstances.

ALSO you said it perfectly "cop alts just gonna give their friends time off just cause and not for their enemies" I WOULD like it to be monitored in a way but then thats putting another responsibility on someone who probably already has a lot already and I feel bad.

At least for me I do not mind the fines its whatever, give me something to grind for when I get out to make back X amount of money. But those times sometimes KILL ME if I am  in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I want prolonged scenarios, I want to have story's to tell and make posts about, I wanna sit there with the PD and MD doing extensive good RP for a long period of time RP with detectives as well to help them with storys and character building. Just do not enjoy my 3 hour sentence forever gonna be a stagnant 3 hours till I am at DOC and Changed into my jumpsuit.

  11. I just feel as though a small change as being able to type in the time even if just 10-15minutes off, would impact people as to not being so salty right off the rip and instead engage in some RP like your supposed to do. 9 out of 10 reports on LEO have the same line of "and because of this I spent 3-4 hours in jail on top of it".

It is weird to bring up "REWARD" people for doing RP when you should just be doing that regardless, but its true there needs to be something if even minor to make it worth it, cause in the current state I see 0 reason to really RP fully and creatively with MD and PD or SD inside the scenario of being arrested and prisoned.

  12. I Have made a post like this before. It seems like to me there is a Lack of willingness to RP with Police as once you are charged that time is stagnant until you get to DOC and are /jailed or prisoned. Making the mindset be "get to DOC as fast as possible" to get the time started to be done with it.

Now depending on what the scenario is VARIES HEAVILY. Like I have been apart of shootouts were I get injured and am sitting on scene for 30-45 minutes sometimes RARELY its a hour doing /ldo, roleplaying GSR, and CCTV footage/ saving POV and uploading.

It just seems like because your times never moves from its original spot until jailed or prisoned it makes you wanna just speed up stuff as fast as possible to get the sentence done. If there was ANY change in that to any degree. Like I RP with police for a fat amount of time cause I want to and they knock off even 15-30 minutes. It would create more instances to actually RP on scene with MD and PD or SD instead of just /me gsw to my arm, /do it would help /me able.

  13. I make this suggestion because TOO MANY times I have missed Me's and Do's in the chat because like 6-9 weazel ads come through at the same time and its really annoying because sometimes its just breaks full immersion because the weazel ad has a pun in it or a joke of some sort during a serious RP encounter.

I have also had mods go Aduty on me because they think I am stalling or ignoreing RP but in reality I just did not see it cause of the stupid ads flooding my text chat.

Just some kind of command to disable seeing weazel ads would be a nice QOL change, If I want to purchase something ill turn them on and leave them on and If I am about to enter some possible RP I will turn them off to avoid flooding.

Also phone off should stop me from seeing ads, I am tired of getting ads while in prison low key.

  15. Did you actually look at the report you mentioned from Wolokai, it was clear as day a group of people harassed some "legals" in terms of being a joke and having a laugh, so instead of just leaving when the situation escalated to a call to police they used the rule (rule playing) to then just gun them down because they called the police for being harassed.

Like Bala said its just common sense, if someone calls the police on me for annoying them I simply just leave and evade if needed. If someone calls the cops on me cause I downed them with a pump shotgun and I got a AP on me I would really like to "silence" said person So there is no way for them to give more information on who I was.

Edit - The rule should 100% be edited to relay that just a phone call to police is not enough to die over, its the context in which the police were called.

Or you could do call outs where you go to them and bring what equipment you need which could allow for a chunk of the RP (barring like surgeries) without need of a property. Would be cool to see someone take this idea and yoink it and develop it since it doesnt make an awful lot of sense taking to MD.

true, I'm tossing this idea out IN HOPES someone yoinks it as I want to see it but do not have the time myself to fulfill it.

  17. I think because it is niche is what makes it so good, I love little slice of life RP that bring that REAL immersion. I am currently running a business right now ICly that is 100% RP and all it took was the purchase of a specific property. The biggest thing would just be purchasing the right place and furnishing it and all you got to do from there is RP and get the word out. IF no one uses this suggestion it might be something I look into in the long run when I am nearing the end of my current plans.

I would like to see this as well as PD has a K9 division and as a handler myself, I have personally tried to do medical RP with my dog and when I have gotten into a vehicle collision with my dog in the car with me, RP'd some minor injuries for the dog but had no vet to take it to. I just called MD and gave them some RP opps and they loved it.

My only concern is with as niche as it is, I am not sure people would dedicate the time and effort. Maybe the legal factions as stated would participate in this, but I feel like the business would sit around stagnant with no patients 90% of the time 😞

The time and effort would be pretty substantial as It would be cool to have like RP appointments on a google doc or something, and maybe even down the line with what you said about K-9 unit. A specific phone number to be called ontop of MD or for MD to call and have a "vet" arrive on scene to care for the K-9
